I dunno like -- tax minimising? I just choose 'not of expected quality' and I get a free return on everything I don't like, no questions asked. Feels alright.

I bought one of these very recently when I needed a dongle for my Linux computer. Advantage - it works out of the box for Linux. My computer recognised it immediately. Disadvantage - it's completely useless. Despite the fact that my computer was a mere one room above the router, I was getting max speeds of 6Mbps. Most of the time it was much lower. Even simply browsing websites was a pain. Eventually, I decided to try again with previous Netgear dongle and make it work. Thankfully I succeeded and now enjoy 50Mbps speed. Waste of £8.

We all pay for it one way or another. Do we not?

These are good in a pinch. My ethernet cable was flaking out the other week and it functioned when i got it placed correctly, was very temperamental before that. Definitely consider something a bit more robust if you can afford it though.

I bought this as a backup in case i was forced to use wifi on a trip and knew my only options would be ripoff retail whilst away. I was correct and cat5 cable wasn't an option so opened my shiny edimax dongle, only to find that despite being super easy to install, it is also super unstable, as others have said, I placed it in the same room as the access point and it still couldn't maintain a constant connection. Ended up buying retail replacement for £30

I guess it depends what you are using it for, I was mainly frustrated by it when playing a game online and it would drop out at least once an hour, before reconnecting. This could happen a few times an hour though
