I had to send it back because GPS was useless and the fixes they suggest didn't work/were nonsense.

That'll be because of the useless mediatek CPU - you'll find the same with every model using that chip. Newer models are supposed to be better, but after a side by side comparison with a mate's dodgy samsing suny s8 or whatever it's called and my 5x I'm not convinced. They released sources yet? Insta-cold from me.

I've been looking at phones recently and just to point out: I own a Galaxy S5 which is two generations out of date and it has almost double the processing power of this phone at 2.5GHz.
Obviously it's a budget phone, but just to give people a bit of context

1. MTK6580 was quite doggy with poor GPS performance.
2. Lack of 4G is a real pain this days.
Don't invest on such phone..

Doogee X5Pro & X6Pro with MTK 6735P is very poor with GPS as well. Fast performer in general but a few other issues with camera/video functions within apps too.... I'm off Chinese phones for a while I think, unless it's a decent spec ZTE or Huawei....

Great price with that size of battery it's just a touch too big, the maximum I will go to nowadays is 5" it's just difficult to find one with a 4000mah+ battery

That's the exact phone I've got, the pro one  However it's faulty! People can't hear me talking sometimes, the call comes and goes, and play store won't function correctly it gets stuck on "installing" all the time when installing apps, tried a factory reset and removing and reinstalling the play store etc
The phone if working correctly would be perfect!

any chance this phones got what it needs to play pokemon go or even support google cardboard !
Try install different rom, most likely software causes the problem, not hardware. Good starting point : http://en.miui.com/forum-90-1.html

Thanks I'll take a look, not sure if I can do it without an unlocked bootloader which I've tried to do but it won't, not had too much look with these phones, I have the standard redmi 3 which worked fine for a week, until I broke the screen at work

I've got the next one up, the Cubot Dinosaur (awful name) - got it for £109 off Amazon. Marshmallow, 4G, dual sim, 3gb RAM, separate sd slot, battery like a substation. I'm sure that you can get better for more but for around a ton it's hard to beat.

This is really HOT! I bought it as a present and been playing around with it and it feels solid and not laggy. For some people 4G is an issue (fair enough) but for the money this is one of the few android phones that has 16 GB of onboard storage as well as 2GB Ram.
What other Android phone can you get for the same price with better features? It's £65 and it doesn't have all the bells and whistles because of its price.

brexit ruined the price of this, was under £50 when i bought it 3/4 months ago

Not brexit.
Just vendors making a nice little extra profit and hiding behind the brexit reasoning.

Well, basically both phones have a poor camera, poor wifi and GPS really, ithey are 60 quid phones and use the same chipset
However, the Bluboo Maya is better than the Cubot Note S, the battery is probably not as good but the size of the Cubot battery is huge and is lithium ion, the Bluboo battery is the much lighter Lithium Polymer
i have both here in front of me, the GPS, Camera and build quality are both better on the Maya and the wifi is the same on both for me. The GPS isn;t great on either, but i was able to tweak the Maya to give a pretty quick and accurate GPS lock
The Cubot doesn't do anything better than the Maya other than a bit of battery life, and feels plastic cheap and tacky in comparison. I can't get used to the charge port being at the top either.
The Maya also ships with android 6.0, the Cubot update to Marshmallow is still a beta, and still has some issues

3G is plenty fast for browsing, tweeting, etc. Some piggyback networks don't even do 4G yet. 4G is hardly a necessity. It is a piece of crap though.

Go back to 19th century or to an underdeveloped country where they still don't have 4g.

Ive got one use it as a back up phone.I only get 3G at home but download speeds are faster on 3G than they are on 4G when out and about.3G is more than quick enough.
