Yes, you do need to be a member. I know a few people who pay for the membership purely for the fuel, it is very good fuel

Great price-waiting for a fuel station at Leeds...

I think if a brand new installation you would get sediments which would be transferred to your tank and fuel pump which wouldn't be good idea.....Best wait a few weeks for it to be flushed out.

I don't think I'll ever fill up with crap/cheap/watered-down fuel again after getting my EGR Valve cleaned (management light came on) and looking at the thick black deposits.
The mechanic advised me to put Shell V-Power Nitro+ Diesel in at least once a week, but I've been putting it in more regularly since it's only a few pence more than standard diesel. Hopefully, there should not be many deposits clogging up my EGR Valve.

The fuels are pretty much standardised there is only a small variation, and costco generally always have the best fuel. Used to be they didn't even sell regular unleaded just premium as they still do for diesel which is functionally identical to your premium shell and BP petrols(because they are). At this price it's a good 20p per litre off some of the BP and Shell garages for premium diesel.

You do realize that with diesel engines you have to do 20k+ miles a year min to prevent issues with egr? Also short journeys don't warm up engine enough to burn all this soot.. If you don't do mileage then go for petrol car, more spend on petrol but no spending on expensive repairs like egr, turbo, constant oil changes etc.... Cheap supermarket fuel is a bit dodgy but not that much although as example I would get 100 miles less out of tesco diesel comparing to texaco or morrisons ?! Shell standard petrol goes more that tesco, asda better than tesco but shell wins clearly.

Just got a leaflet through the post. Says they are doing regular unleaded, premium unleaded and premium diesel. No mention of regular diesel. I will go later and have look.
Shell nitro and BP Ultimate diesel are 20p / litre more than regular diesel near me.

Only a shame they don't do RON99 Unleaded!
I have made many savings in my recent DERV. But can't say I noticed any differences between regular fuel from elsewhere. I do believe the advantages of Premium Diesel over regular compared to Premium Unleaded vs Regular is not that great.

Ive been using costco diesel for about 2 years & had no problems with it but i cant say i get any more miles out of it than i did with Asda. Saying that, my enigine might be alot healthier?

As an Airport Taxi Driver, value & quality are key when choosing where to fill my tank.
Yes there are differences between fuel brands but the major factor is how well it is stored. Tanks need to be kept watertight & pump filters regularly changed. Similar to how the quality of a pint can vary from pub to pub!
Been using Costco for fuel in Liverpool since they opened & swear by their diesel. A great product at an even better price!

So FWIW a member of staff in Liverpool Costco told me yesterday its Shell fuel they use...

...Which is strange, as Shell don't do 97 RON fuel. Warehouse staff will have no idea who really supplies it, especially if it's delivered in a Costco branded tanker. More likely they're supplied by a distributor like Greenergy (who supply most supermarkets etc).
