3 people I know have this tablet and all 3 have issues of varying sorts. Looking at posts here you might be ok, but if you're going to do anything with it, stick an SD card in FIRST before you do anything else, then let a plethora of firmware updates apply - THEN do a factory reset, THEN start installing your apps.
I have to continually wipe the cache on one of them to keep it working, the others just decide not to play ball on occasion meaning either a factory reset or a wipe of the app and re-install.

Root this tablet and turn off wifi while sleeping to stop battery drain and you have a good 10" tablet with a bright screen. If you are a gamer perhaps this is not for you as 8gb will cause problems but everyday apps can be installed/backed up to your heart's content with a bit of nouse.
Recommend and hot at this price!

I have had good tablets and **** tablets. The kids have had their Fire 5th gen since Christmas and they have been immense.
My missus had the tab 4 in a deal with a phone and I have to say that is the best tablet we have had so far.
The kids had a 10 in Lifetab (kitkat) before that. Decent screen but you couldn't do anything on it. Freezing all the time. No updates to iron it out and we were left with a glorified youtube viewer.
What's my point? You can have a tablet that has all the bells and whistles, but if their coding of android is atrocious then the tablet will reflect that.
Stick with companies you know will give updates / can root

I had this tab and sold it on recently as the internal storage issue was winding me up given about 3.5 GB available for all apps and downloads, wasn't enough for me. picked up the lenovo tab2 a10 on eBay (used) for about £90 which is superior in every way (16gb storage, 2 GB ram, full hd screen).

Yes there are loads of tablets better than this for the money..
For £5 more you can have an Alba generic tablet with 16gb of onboard storage and Android 5.1 pre-installed.
Personally I'd get a second hand Nexus 7, even though it is 7 inch, because its still going to get updates until next year.
I dont want to be ungracious, but the Asus tablet is some dead old stock that you won't be able to give away soon.

Can you not install SD swap on these? I used it on my last phone and it set my 64gb card as internal storage.
Oh shut up lol, kodi is not badly written its the poor addons that some people release that are spoiling it, there is tons of well presented addons out there if you look do some research ya muppet lol,

Blah blah Kodi, on every single tech deal we here about the badly written open source crap that is Kodi. If you could install Kodi on a kettle someone would do it.
Oh hey yah I've just like bought this Firestick and...
Yeah yeah you've installed Kodi on it we know, your Grandma has even installed it on her zimmer frame and my mum has it on her Dyson.

Thanks OP, ordered one for my tech illiterate dad who just wants to browse the internet / watch catchup TV / check email. Has been pestering me for a tablet for around £100 that is 10.1" so this fits the bill perfectly.

This is a solid if not chunky tablet that ive been using for about 2 years without a problem. Its a far better buy than the Archos 90 thats now topping 734 in the ratings. In fact thats a dreadful tablet by comparison. The ram and storage might be a problem for some but I haven't found them an issue as I am not doing anything overly demanding with mine.

I could only vote this hot if you want a large screen to watch movies. As a tablet, 1GB ram, 8GB internal memory and still on Kit Kat gives me no option but to vote cold unless your going to root and put on a custom rom.
