Step by Step guide created in another thread, credit to MrGamer123
Step 1 : Buy phone as above with the above listed plan.
Step 2: Wait for phone to arrive. Once it has arrived put the O2 sim into the phone and make a 10-20 second phone call to activate the phones IMEI on O2's system (You need to do this if you want to unlock the phone to use any sim card)
Step 4: Once unlock request is done it takes 1-7 days to unlock. I would recommend you wait until the phone is unlocked before doing the next step.
*update* It seems you don't need to wait for the unlock to complete before cancelling. You must however request the unlock and confirm with o2 on the phone that unlock is processing before cancelling airtime contract just to be on the safe side.
Step 5: Once the phone is unlocked successfully ring 02 and tell them you want to pay off the device plan which should be £5 x 24 = £120 and you want to also at the same time cancel the airtime. Now o2 customers services representatives are known to be a bit slow so you might need to speak to someone who is on the ball. They should then cancel the airtime and you would have paid off the phone so you have a fully unlocked iPhone 6 for only £189.99.
PS: Some people have stated that o2 sometimes do not cancel the airtime contract part and they get sent bills afterwards, to avoid this I would recommend after you have cancelled the airtime after a few hours or days contact o2 support again and confirm that they have cancelled the airtime plan and get them to confirm in writing.
I know its a bit of a long winded way to get the phone but if all goes well should be worth it

I got one for myself, the phone was like new but there was no Apple warranty left. Cancelled O2 airtime contract so not sure if the 12 month O2 warranty is valid

16GB is a bit poor in 2016. Entry level is now 32GB. But, it is a great price.
Beware o2 may refuse further sales. I purchased 2 Samsung S6 deals last December and my wife purchased one, suddenly we failed further o2 credit ratings due to undisclosed business reasons. They knew we played the system by paying off phones and cancelling contracts. Buy as may as you want then cancel after delivery.

£539 brand new from Apple. So I'd say not a bad price, but as mentioned 16gb is not all that good, plus the OS takes up a few Gb

This is £29.99 upfront and £41/month for 24 months. £293.99 is just what you pay for the phone. Can you get the phone at this price on it's own?

I think this is an 02 Refresh deal. So you get the phone & cancel the contract

Yep, I got a 5s for my daughter on o2 refresh on Monday. I tried to order a second one for daughter number 2 and was refused. I then tried to order one with my wife's details but that was knocked back too, presumably because of the same address. Does anyone know if there is a certain time you need to wait until it will work again?

Looks like the price has increased to £393.99 or am I doing it wrong? I have entered 20GB data plan and its for £29.99 down payment and £41 per month on iPhone 6 S 16GB :disappointed:

What is? I was kind of hoping someone would explain this better. Is it a case of ordering the phone and then calling to cancel the contract? Again, will this work if I'm already with o2? I could do with an inexpensive iPhone of this size.
Where is the 239 price coming from?

Have fun with your 4 apps as you won't get much more on this

5 Aug 16#23
it depends on what you use your phone for, if its massive game apps, loads of music then this isn't for you, but if you don't then you can manage without any issues. I have 60 apps on mine and the music I need, email, photos and no issues. Have kids the same and 16GB ipads as well which if you manage them correctly you wont have issues.
Not everyone needs massive memory, would be good to have more but pay the extra its not always worth it.

5 Aug 16#20
Yes you order the phone. when it arrives you then cancel the airtime element and pay off the phone amount of 239. Or you can keep either side of it depending on what you want!
If you go onto o2 and try it and add to basket it breaks it all down into phone cost etc.
It does work, I got one a few months ago for my son

Oh and it should work exactly the same if you're with o2. again log into your account and try and add the deal, best way to find out.

I haven't seen an o2 refresh deal with an iPhone storage higher than 16gb. is this just an easy way for them to sell more 16gb iphones?
timhill3 to h4music
5 Aug 161#27
I just placed one in my basket. Similar deal to this but changed the storage to 64GB this obviously changed the price but it was a good deal and worked out £19.99 upfront and £16 per month for the phone. Throw in a decent SIM only plan after cancellation for around £10 a month and that's a decent phone deal. Tempted

Is this deal only for existing O2 customers?
Thanks
Crossbow to secretmick
5 Aug 16#35
No, you don't need to be an existing customer.
When you purchase an O2 refresh offer, you become a new O2 customer. But once you pay off your device plan, cancel airtime & get your unlock code, the phone is yours completely to do as you please - in other words, you are free of O2 & can pop in any other network's SIM (including your present one) & continue with them.

Just a warning, after you canceled the airtime and paid the phone price, you'd better not change your mind and return the phone.
Coz no one from O2 knows how to do this.
I've ended up with losing about 300 in my credit score, following the suggestion given by O2 employee to cancel the direct debit first.
Think people need to start adding that to the bottom of all Refresh posts, or Mods could add it. Would save the tiresome recurrent questions.

it is worth checking your credit file after this that's for sure and making copies of all of the webchats, we did it recently and had no issues at all but there are other reports of the issues you mentioned arising but equally there are plenty who didn't have an issue. Some would say its not worth it but like anything massive savings can come with a little work to correct later :disappointed:

5 Aug 16#36
Actually, the solution is rather simple, just don't cancel your direct debit.
I am just saying that my specific case shows how much the O2 employees know what they are doing.

Even common social media apps cache all the pics and this eats up your storage space ( not memory). Also the effective size isn't even 16gb,,its about 11 with all the bundles crapware which you can't get rid off. If you can manage with that you are doing well but most normal users would struggle

I don't recommend this phone, I've had it for the past 20 months, it has bent slightly, apple refusing to honour warranty, I have to go through network provider. Either get the normal 6, 6s or 6s plus, don't get the 6 plus.

hard to recommend as it's a 2 year old device, the new iphone is a month away and we all know what happens to iOS devices older than 2 years when they get updated they get suspiciously sluggish ,, as well as not being new and potentially no warranty

Apple say categorically that they don't deliberately hamper older devices with updates. Just seen a couple of pigs flying past my window.
