The RRP on this is £619 and this also includes a John Lewis extended warranty for 3 years. Space Grey is £579 and Silver is £589. Seems an excellent deal with the additional warranty currently included!
Please note that this is for the 128GB model with Wi-Fi only (no cellular).

I do agree that people can be too quick to jump to conclusions about deals but I think it's ok to think something is overpriced even if you can't find it cheaper elsewhere. What makes this iPad "pro"? It's a joke, just an excuse to charge twice the price. There are so many devices that cost similar or less and are actually worthy of the pro tag.

Tesco only offer a 1 year warranty. I personally would say that £20 for an additional two years is worth the cost, plus the quality of John Lewis' customer service.
Manufacturer Warranty Period Telephone support for the first 90 days and a one-year limited warranty.

100% agree with that! Total no brainer.. If your paying £579 for something an extra £20 for 2 years extended warranty by a reputable company is money well invested weather it turns out you needed it or not  this is a perhaps the best tablet money can buy at the minute.. In the eyes of some buyers, these are worth the price premium. For some, a £50 no-brand tablet will suffice (and there is no issue with that). For others, they would rather pay more for (what they and a number of others believe) is a higher quality product.

Whether you have an issue or not, there aren't any rules on voting Hot or Cold, and people will vote cold for logical and illogical reasons and there's simply nothing you can or will be able to do about it. They'll vote cold just because you expressed your opinion now, that's how it is here. Also it won't go down well if you expect people to tell you why they voted cold, they won't and possibly will force more cold voting.

MarkT1967 to Prepel
23 Aug 161#26
its not twice as much chap, £429 Air 2 with 64gb, compared to normal price of Pro 9.7" with 128Gb as no 64Gb option is £619, for the difference, you get a better screen, sound and its faster! Let alone the rest of the stuff like writing etc, I know its best with the pen and thats extra, but we're talking like for like iPad's

iPad Pro 9.7 + Pencil + Notability app = Best note taking system available today.
The writing experience is far better than the Surface Pro series ( I also own the Surface Pro 3 with the latest pen )
I don't own the iPad Pro keyboard, which I would think is nowhere near as good as the Surface Pro 4 keyboard (Which I do own)
xeroc to ceebs
23 Aug 16#25
Have to agree with this. Apple Pencil used with Notability works incredibly well in my workflow. I do a lot of research (legal) and have entirely eliminated actual paper. Even items that I can't access digitally, I tend to use TinyScan Pro to scan everything in to PDF, then import to notability for annotation etc.
I also have the keyboard, and I think it's good for what it is (I'm typing on it now), particularly when used in conjunction with MS Word. I wouldn't want to be writing 1000s of words on it - fatigue will set in rather quickly if you have large hands like I do. With that said, the experience on the larger iPad Pro may be better as the keys are more spaced out.
Both accessories I find are pretty excellent, if not expensive. I'm pretty sure the Surface keyboard is better for note taking/long haul typing sessions. I think the Pencil is pretty unmatched however. If you're an artist (I'm not), then reviews of both, by artists, would indicate it is more or less a 'no brainer'

If you do any travelling in Europe, then do what I do...
Buy a 12GB data sim from Three for £23, stick it in a mifi, and you can then have fast data throughout much of Europe on ALL your devices.
(The problem with 4G in the iPad itself is that you can't share that connection when abroad).
If you only intend to use the iPad in the UK, then the 4G option would certainly be useful

The only area the iPad Pro beats the surface pro is in note taking. The iPad Pro is not a computer replacement. Not by any means. What it does it does extremely well, in a compact size. The camera is far superior to the surface pro camera.

Hot price for this- and with excellent JL customer service. It's an awful lot of cash for a tablet- are you not as well adding to this (if you can) and getting a MacBook? The Very deal had these coming in around £680. Can do a lot more on one of those.

For note taking a laptop/macbook is nowhere near the experience of this tablet and the same goes for artists for drawing.

is there a point to some premium products. I'm fairly sure we could say whats the point in paying £60k for a car when you will get the same function from a £50k car. Not sure there is a point, probably some people have a higher disposable income than other people and some people like the look, feel and operation of this product so decide its worth putting their disposable income towards.
All in all, not sure we can answer "whats the point" questions on luxury consumer items.

It's a good price undoubtedly but who else is fed up of Apple's 'planned obsolescence' dressed up with marketing (e.g. bricking perfectly good ipad 2/3/4/Airs with rubbish iOS updates that add nothing other than slow things down to the point of frustration with no way to revert)? I use an iPad regularly but I can't be the only one who is sick of spending a fortune on Apple products to be dictated to what I can and can't run - and there are good and cheaper alternatives out there, for example Sony Z3 Tablet Compact, Z4, Samsung Tab S2.
