This is old monitor. This has 5ms response rate. New monitors in ebuyer and amazon have only 1ms response rate

Not quite - 5ms is pretty typical for an IPS screen, only TN panels will have 1 or 2ms response times, but then you're getting worse colour accuracy and viewing angles

It won't suffer from flicker, pretty much all LCD/LED screens are flicker free at 60Hz refresh rate is fine for an LCD monitor, they don't suffer from flicker like old CRT monitors did at 60Hz

I have a dead pixel on my AOC which was purchased for £300. They do not replace panels with anything under 5 pixels, just a little heads up.

Unfortunately that's quite common with all LCD manufacturers, if it's a problem you have a 3 year guarantee with AOC so your monitor might have to suffer another 'fault' to get it swapped out (but you'll probably get a refurbished replacement so could still get pixel fault on the replacement)
Have you tried any of the pixel fixing methods? - gently rubbing the screen (very gently!) or running a pixel unblocker program (unlikely to cure but worth a try)

I see, yeah I was secretly hoping it had another fault so i could do the RMA. It's new so it's still a bit a distraction. Have tried what u mentioned with also running the programme over an hour with no luck!.. cheers

Perhaps the retailer has a 30 day return policy or something like that?
Otherwise it might have to have a very intermittent 'fault' where it goes dead but as it's so totally random it might not always do it if you get my drift. wink wink.
