Surely must be very close to a release of 4k hdr version. I would hold off for a little while if you have an 4k Hdr tv.
Still heat added though as good price.

My LG 4k TV has native apps for YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime which all support 4k UHD and I've confirmed the Netflix app also supports HDR - not found any HDR content on Amazon Prime yet.
I bought the Fire TV 4K as, at the time, the built-in apps didn't include YouTube and I had some lipsync issues. All fixed since though and I don't have much need for the 4k Fire TV, other than Kodi, but that isn't 4k anyway I don't think.
Does Kodi on FireTV 4k support 4k UHD?

Kodi max at 1080p as Amazon 4K is only support for a handful of official apps. Side loaded apps cannot support 4k

I don't get Amazon TV. You need to pay £80+ for Prime but still have to pay to watch the best shows like Game of Thrones. Fack that!

Worth looking in CEX ,just checked grade A selling for £58 and you get a two year guarentee with all there stuff.I bought from there months back and mine was in new condition still had wrapping on box and remote.Only thing missing was hdmi cable which i was told they dont come with one.Strange ! .So if you have cex vouchers to use like i did the box will be even cheape,r theoretically.

If your TV is HDR then this box works in HDR. Some Amazon and Netflix stuff are already supported  Problem for me the content is limited to stuff like Mozart in the Jungle and that Nazi show.

If you've got a stick and your thinking should I upgrade the answer is yes. The box is so much faster and better in everyway I feel.
Kodi runs fine on both stick and box, but if your a sports person the processor on the stick doesn't cut it even when changing acceleration settings you get ghosting effects in certain links/streams, box though no issues.
And with having USB or Sd slot put kodi on a stick or card and install it that way

He is correct but so far the selection is very limited, same goes for netflix UHD section although at least they have most of their originals in 4k like daredevil, stranger things, house of cards etc

Do smart TV's with the Amazon Video app have 4K capability or do you need to by the Fire?

If you have a smart tv that is 4k then the amazon video app will have a dedicated section for 4k videos

I upgraded from FireTV to FireTV 4k on Prime day. Pretty much the same device, albeit without an optical audio port.
Works very well and 4k looks good, although there is no HDR support.
Add the cost of an HDMI 2.0 cable to the price above.

For this price you're probably better off looking at an Android box, the new S912 boxes are due out anytime now and are packing some serious power (for a cheap box)

I have both the FireStick and FireTV. The FireTV is a lot faster and its WIFI is better than the FireStick.
The FireTV costs £20 more, but does have USB and MicroSD slot, which allows data transfer.
Kodi and Mobdro both work on FireTV and FireStick.

While true, last time I looked decent 4k bluray players will run you around £300 minimum. It's almost like when the PS3 came out and it was cheaper to buy one of those than a dedicated bluray player at the time. If you're after a 4k bluray player its still probably the best value.
I feel the main reason they chose not to support 4k was the lack of blurays and how very few people have the bandwidth to stream 4k when the consoles were released.

All the content providers (Netflix, Amazon, Sky, BT) have so far required HDCP 2.2 support.
Even if you have a 4K HDMI 2.0 TV, if you don't have a HDCP 2.2 complaint socket you'll be stuck at 1080p.

Sure I know it's coming, it's been coming for ages now as 4K sets starting coming out as far back as 2013, possibly further, just a bit frustrating that the devices and content seems to be appearing at a snails pace in comparison. I realise the base PS4/Xbox One specs put 4k gaming far out of the question but I'm sure they could play back 4k video, which by comparison is FAR less demanding, even the low spec processors in the average smart TV can do it. I suspect part of the issue is HDMI 1.4 but used to it's max capacity you can get 30fps at 4k, enough for the vast majority of video. Hence it's a tad annoying asking those who bought the base models to buy new consoles even just for basic 4k video playback, I'm sure the base models could do with a little software tweaking...

The new xbox one slim now has a UHD bluray player. The New Ps4 Neo is going to be 4k capable (not really powerful enough to play AAA games at 4k though)
Xbox one Scorpio will be an ultra powerful console capable of full 4k games (but won't be on sale untill about a year)
So 4k is coming.

Think September 17th was previous announcement date, with early October release. And Amazon seem to be able to announce these things with little build up.

I wouldn't worry about the storage, but I suspect more deals may appear soon, as Amazon have a habit of announcing then releasing new products in September. Heat added, but if you can afford to wait past mid September, you may get even better deals.

This seems a decent price for this considering many retailers seem to stick close to the £80 RRP. I've been thinking of getting one after recently getting a 4K TV and then realising how few of my devices, even current gen consoles, can make use of the resolution. I know PS4/Xbox One were never going to do 4K gaming but I'm sure they could have patched support for video in :disappointed:
So tempting and heated though I think £50-£55 is about the most I'd pay considering, apart from the 4K the specs aren't all that generous (8GB storage) but undoubtedly one of the better streaming boxes out...
