Asda in store Colchester (should be nationwide) had an Alcatel one touch 1016G for £6. Includes a SIM card with £10 credit I believe if you text to activate it!
Also comes with a wall plug to USB charger and micro USB cable! Winner !
Great phone for the price does the job for festivals.
Much cheaper than anywhere else!

Why do you need a special phone for a festival ?

Don't really want to risk getting a £500 phone wet
Will probably still work if it gets wet.
Battery life.
You want a really bad phone.
You don't have to bring it home with you.
You can give it to an old relative afterwards.

Because I don't like walking around drunk in wet fields and 100,000 strangers with an expensive device that's easy to lose, break or have stolen. On top of that it's literally cheaper to buy this phone than pay the outrageous charging prices at festivals.

I suppose you'll be using it in all major cities as all of the above apply, apart from the wet fields.

A portable battery charger will keep your phone going for days, and keeping it in a zipped money belt is more secure than loose in your pocket. A bit of preparation saves all the faffing around.

But a half decent money belt costs more than six quid, surely??

Whilst I agree he's being a bit silly, he did say he'd be drunk and everyone knows that's a pretty easy wao to lose your phone, regardless of how many precautions you take.

And people get drunk outside of festivals. Would they then take the Alcatel out every weekend to the pub? What's the point of having the expensive phone at all? :P
My iPhone 6S with battery case lasted 3 days solid at belladrum festival recently and I made good use of its bright torch, camera for photos and videos and played hours of deezer music via an external speaker at the tent. The Alcatel multitasking could maybe extend to hammering in a peg or two.
Good deal for the charger and credit, don't get the festival argument tho

I am usually over cautious in unfamiliar areas and while I wouldn't take a cheap phone to London I also wouldn't expect to spend upwards of an hour in a confined space of closely packed people while I jiggle and jump about inebriated.
True, but that's another potential item to get damaged, lost or stolen. If your tent floods from heavy rain everything is ruined. A money belt is OK but I prefer to be as unburdened as possible. So a cheap small lightweight phone for emergency friend finding does the job.
I prefer to learn from experience and I have had a phone lost/stolen at a festival.

Would this run on 3's network? I bought an alcatel 2012 and it won't recognise the 3 payg sim

Doubt it - when looking for a cheap phone for a Three network SIM (or one of the MVNOs that use Three) you need to be looking for 2100 MHz frequency (3G) - I don't see that in the specs here: http://www.gsmarena.com/alcatel_10_16g-7652.php

Cheers. I keep a spare phone for gigs and festivals - aside from losing it, having it stolen, the rain and mud - I'm not convinced a large screen phone in my jeans pocket would stand up to the crush of the crowd. Not worth risking anyway.

OP posts a mobile phone for £6 with £10 worth of credit and you vote it cold because he described it as a 'festival' phone.
You're the only ridiculous thing around here!
And for the record, people who actually go to festivals find phones like these a god send!
I've stewarded at a few festivals and people are always losing their friends, saying that their phones are out of battery, or they think there's was lost/stolen.
A cheap phone that will last you the entire time you're there, that you don't worry about being damaged/stolen/lost AND that gives you more phone credit than what the bloody thing costs, is a great deal, you tit!
