What is the difference between an OTG cable and a normal one apart from length?

​one end is MicroUSB male, the other is normal USB female. these let you connect USB accessories and peripherals to e.g. a smartphone or tablet with a MicroUSB data port

The thing that distinguishes an OTG cable is that at the host end the fifth pin (mini or micro connector) is connected to ground, to tell the OTG-capable device (phone or tablet) to switch to host mode. Without that, it won't work, regardless of the combinations of connectors.

Great price, but I once ordered a cheapo OTG cable and the larger end was sliding back and forth, had desoldered itself...junk. Bought a Sony branded one months ago a from another ebay seller for £1.49, and its rock solid, even the plastic feels better, keep a look out
