I think this is a steal at the price. Says there are currently 4 left. I see all these comments about the 1070. You can't get anything with better performance than this for £345. If you can, please show me.

Given the 980Ti doesn't do so we'll with DX12 and that's the future for games in years to come I would much rather a 1070

980 ti is comparable to the 1070.. isn't it I think his should be under 300

It is and a decent 1070 will set to back around £430. That's why I think this is good value.

great card and price but makes no sense with the 1070 around which is 8k ready, better performance, 8gb vram, hdmi 2.0b which is necessary for future proper hdr games

8K Ready
That's so irrelevant. By the time 8K panels are affordable/under £2K you will certainly have upgraded the GPU by then. Anyone jumping to 8K this decade will not still have a 1070.

7680x4320 on dp1.4
and do not forget guys, hdmi2.0b does not define any type of new cable at all, your very old high speed one should be more than enough

lol, does it matter?? it is there and ready. Can be used for a 5k monitor anyway

I just found it funny that 8K was mentioned.
5K. Fair point. Forgot about the current limitation as 5K has been done but over 2 DP cables.
I agree 980ti's should be cheaper. For this money a 1070 is the best option.
Drop to £300 and it'll be a hard choice.

No point doing it; 980ti sli is far superior however it's the issue of sli that may give better performance but comes with a lot of drawbacks that you get with any dual gpu config.

this ain't a 4k card, though it is a bloody good 1440p card

don't understand people that want the 1080.
Trust me it's worth waiting for the next gen or for the impatient ones, the 1080 TI

True although there are no 4K cards. Let's see what the 1080ti can bring.
Unless money really isn't an issue, wait for the 1080ti.

finally it took since 2007 to run crisis at no less than 60fps, not really sure as I do not own the gtx1080 yet but I am sure and hopefully it should not deep that much in to the 50's, that all at 1080p. Would need 3xgtx1080 sli at least and provided the third card will scale well to run crisys 3 at 4k and msaa x8 to get in to the 60's, so expect 50's at all times. LOL

Since we're moving towards low-level API's developers aren't bottlenecked by the CPU and submissions and driver bottlenecks. It should technically give is more progress in GPU improvements, unless they continue to milk us.

I find it good enough playing 1080p on ti. Had a 2560x1440 monitor but now gone 21:9 which is 2560x1080 which is less stress on the psu and gpu. You'll get better experience on 21:9 than 4k
Best way and cheaper and better experience is reached on large 4k tv screens. You can make up any resolutions you want in a non scaled mode 3840x1600,3840x1440 just anything you like, any smaller screen in to the screen will still result bigger than a monitor on a lets say 48" 4k. Not just that, the quality will be far better than an expensive monitor. About lag I do not even know what it is on my vestel 43", cannot spot any difference against my best monitor and despite the fact that it about 40mls slower.

The low-level API features/benefits and newer engines are working highly towards AMD's hardware. And not only that, it just shows how poor AMD is in OpenGL compared. NVIDIA hardware is sort of working to the "max" in the older API's (DX11 included).

Maybe it's about time we saw some comparisons between 4K tv's versus 4k monitors.

The 1080GTX is a large leap above the previous generation, which is the first time this has happened in a while. And they've also completely outrun AMD and aren't facing any competition for the near future. I don't think nVidia will even be in a hurry to get a Ti version out the door, they'll milk this one for a bit. Get a 1080GTX now and you'll probably have a top tier card for quite a while.
The only reason I'm waiting is for them to become a bit more common so the prices are slightly less scalpy. I don't expect a massive drop though.

at the same resolutions results are the same, quality does not make it any different than the way it works

i'd definitely play pc games on monitors than TVs. Plus i sit closer and use keybard and mouse. used to have 27 inch 1080p monitors, then moved to 32" QHD monitor but too much looking up and down during gaming so the 27" height was perfect hence why I upgraded to 21:9 2560x1080 monitor. Witcher 3 looks awesome in 21:9

Really?
I suppose if you only play single player/non twitch response games you'll be fine.
I used to game on my LG TV which had around 45ms input lag and playing COD was a nightmare. Enemies would see me before I saw them which lead to sheer frustration.
Switched to a monitor with 10ms input lag and had zero issues. The faster response time on the monitor could also contribute to the better experience so monitors are certainly the way to go in fast paced twitch games.
