I'd be very suspicious. Side-loading apps is a good way to get malware... Not that the Play store is totally impermeable, but it's far safer than random apks.

It isn't so obvious. There's still big demand for Miband and shops are despatching orders with big delays. For Miband with dispatch within few days you need to pay around 50$ on aliexpress.
Miband will be available in international open sale from October but price will rise a bit probably.
Got it for £21 from Aliexpress seller at release time, didnt count steps initially but started the next day and been fine ever since, seller said to not use the playstore mi app as it wouldnt update but gave me a link to a mi app which did.
was cheaper, but since brexit the pound has got a pounding and the price have gone up!

Agreed. That's not even the Xiaomi website. I got mine from gearbest, and there was no such recommendations.
I would recommend Mi Band Tools as an additional app, it's a couple of quid but it has a few extra things.

It's xiaomi website and seller was right, updated app is only available at xiaomi app store.

That version of the app is 2.1.5 ... the play store version is 2.1.4 - not sure it would make that much difference?

Have band 1st gen one and sleep tracking doesn't work with iPhone despite them releasing 4 updates in space of 5 weeks.
Money wasted really as only good for step counting and alarm/ call notifications really.
Not sure if 2 would be any good to sync sleep data.

I'm looking for a simple fitness tracker, perhaps like this but 1 thing which it needs to have is a manual counter? I want to count my swim lengths as I can't seem to do this by memory. I don't need anything that does it automatically - I'm happy just to tap something at the end of each length. This is good because its waterproof but I can't see any kind of counter functionality. I could get some kind of clicker, but I'd prefer some kind of fitness tracker. Is anyone aware of anything? thanks

I have the 1s (light sensitive version) and the sleep tracker works fine on it. maybe upgrade to that one if you don't want to risk it with this version.

oh dear, ive just ordered and the code worked fine :-/
Do I really need this? I suspect not. Will I buy it? Almost certainly!

It's not waterproof, it's water resistant. IP67 rating should be fine for washing hands and showering, but it's only limited immersion for a short period of time. I wouldn't trust it would continue working after a few swimming trips.

Do you mean upgrade the app. If so how to or do you mean get 1s band?

this was supposed to be a $16 band... I guess the sellers are still buying it at $16 and selling for more than double that because of the high demand.

Mi Band 2 was never $16, the announcement was ~$23. Given the usual £ translation that means £23 so £28 isn't far off..

I have the MiBand1s and I have just purchased the Mi Band 2 just now and will let you know. I currently use the app called bind mi band with the 1s band. The developer for the windows app has a website http://www.bindmiband.com/ I am hoping he will post something soon about the new release of MiBand 2!

does anyone here has an issue with Pairing Miband 2 with their phone?
My does not pair at all. I can see it sometimes in the list of bluetooth devices but Mi app is not working.
I tried newer (2.1.6 ) version - still nothing.

Loving the MiBand2. Ordered from banggood.com on 9/7/2016 and received 20/7/2016 make sure you use the coupon code it shows in the product description on their site, to reduce the price further. (Runs out on 31st July). I use windows phone so I am still waiting for developer to update his app to support MiBand2. I do however use Hudl2 and the Mi Fit app works great. I charged the Band as soon as I received on 20/7/2016, it was at about 40% battery life is now at 93% and that was 6 days ago. After linking with the MiFit app it popped up installing firmware to the Band and that happened automatically. Options you have available to turn on and off in the Mi Fit app, Steps, Distance, Calories, Heart rate, Remaining battery. I have > steps, heart rate, remaining battery turned on. I didn't see the point it showing distance as its not GPS linked, calories well everyone burns different rates so not useful to me. Also you CAN disable the lift wrist to browse info, which I am very pleased about. I was worried, I would keep activating the screen every time I moved my arm up during work.

Ordered 17/07 received 27/07. Not bad for snail mail from China. Worked out at £26.77 using my clarity card. App downloaded and band set up in 5 mins. So far so good seem pretty accurate
