OK. So it's finally here. Red Dead Redemption has been announced for the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program and you know what happened to the price of Black OPS. Well I would fully expect this to be a worse case, or I am just panicking.
And let's face it, £4 alone is a deal in it's own sense.
It's currently £6.24 digitally on the Xbox Store. This news has just gone live in the last 18 minutes, so I would expect a rise soon.
Obviously some won't appreciate the heads up, but see it as a nice little heads up and a great price (I feel).
Edit 20:12: Removed Grainger Games as they have bumped the price to £17.99 (standard) and £24.99 (GOTY).

Even at £6.24 digital it is a great price for a great game.
Today we're happy to announce that Red Dead Redemption will be released as part of Microsoft’s Xbox One Backward Compatibility program this coming Friday, July 8th.
Starting on Friday, every Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 owner will be able to play the game directly on their Xbox One, regardless of which version of the game they own (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare and Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition)[/i]. And for those who have yet to experience it, the game will be available to purchase on Friday from the Games Store on Xbox One.
Red Dead Undead Nightmare Collection is currently £3.99 delivered at Game.

As for the game, absolutely loved it, cant go back though, already got 100% with all online golden guns etc. Great times
I'd imagine so to be honest. There's going to be a fair few people milking that cash cow all of a sudden. Probably best to get them orders in over night if possible for physical copies before the staff clock on in the morning and adjust.
That said, as already mention, £6.24 from Xbox.com is a great price too.

Flying out of CeX already. Was on 2023. Now 2005. Considering their stock does not always go down straight away, I could imagine by morning they will have hardly many left and they will rise the price to £8.00 like they did with Black Ops!

There are a few premium dlc's which are included with the GOTY. They are £7 each to buy on the store

oh right so they are doing the same as borderlands 1, if this is the case there's no point getting the goty version.
voyager123

thanks. well looking online for those wanting both it looks like its cheaper to get them separate than buy the GOTY edition
The Undead Nightmare Collection combines the Undead Nightmare Pack, Liars and Cheats Pack & Legends and Killers Pack. Undead Nightmare Pack: An entirely new single-player campaign following John Marston as he tries to find a cure for the highly-infectious undead plague. Liars and Cheats Pack: Multiplayer Poker, Liar’s Dice, Horse Racing, Stronghold competitive mode and Explosive Rifle. Legends and Killers Pack: Nine new map areas, Multiplayer Characters from Red Dead Revolver and Tomahawk weapon.

If base game owners get free access to the undead nightmare then the digital version is a complete steal at a tad over £6. Right now on CEX it is £4, but just like black op which was £5 the day before it went BC, this will also rise in price, but not in trade in value, you might have a chance before it dawns on CEX tomorrow to grab it cheap.

Im going to post a few links of cheap copies of read dead redemption - theres only one of each. - fastest fingers first
Price already around £12+ for boxed copies on the Bay. My guess is there is 1500 in stock at CeX if their stock figure is accurate. I reckon that CeX will look at the massive amounts of orders and with the BWC news rise the price to £8.00. I reckon all the copies on CeX will be gone by tomorrow at around midday. Then we will see copies selling for £20-25 on eBay once all the cheaper places have sold out. Inevitable. So grab a copy while you can or pay the premium if you must get it.

6 Jul 16#118
I already own the Undead Nightmare expansion, but sold my disc based copy in order to get it on the PS3 instead (XBOX 360 is in the loft).
If I buy the digital copy of RDR on it's own, will my existing undead nightmare work on the XBOX one? Sorry I've read through the initial posts, and hopefully I'm just missing something obvious.
Also wondering whether it's even worth rebuying it or just playing it on the PS3 - the XBOX frame rate was better at the time, but not sure how badly backwards compatibility mode will affect that.
I hasten to add it's one of the best games I ever played. I'm fairly sure I keep the same horse throughout the game as well (had a couple of quits and restarts when he perished).

Actually BC on the XB1 does offer some improvments, frame rates for one are somewhat improved over some games as well as no screen tearing in games, Black op and Fallout 3 being two games that actually improve in FPS, yes it is not every game, but as they work on this it should get better, and remember, the Scorpio will also have full BC with all your xb1 AND 360 games, so i cannot imagine what all that extra power will do for xbox bc games, i mean talk about a win win.

and thats why it pays
A: not to get rid of last gens console
B: have both consoles
Well the irony is, if MS had not botched the XB1 launch and Sony had not ran with the ball and scored the winning goals, we would not be sitting with all these features, same thing happened last gen with the 360/PS3, MS ran away with it and Sony had to bring in all these features to win consumers, now Sony are the ones getting complacent with and MS are the ones fighting for customer. lol

The message is clear. People still like Red Dead Redemption and I ain't surprised, easily my favourite game last gen. So much so that John Marsden's gun-slinging adventures have rocketed to the top of the Amazon Movers and Shakers list after it was announced that its coming to Xbox One backwards compatibility on Friday.
Sales are up a staggering 5652% on the Xbox 360 version as of posting and it's now 19 on Amazon's sales rank. It was previously 1,093. The number two game, up 2057% is the game of the year edition that includes the Undead Nightmare DLC.
Hope this is more than enough evidence that people want a sequel, the rumours and leaks are all promising but would love R* to confirm!

I predicted correct with the CeX rise to £8.00. I however am wrong and thought the remaining stock would be gone by dinnertime. Still 740 odd in stock so grab them quick!

Posting on the off chance this info is useful to somebody. I logged into Xbox.com and saw that I had £10.00 credit in my Microsoft account, although I really don't know how it got there. Anyway, the site wouldn't let me use the credit to buy this game, or many others, for some strange reason. As a last resort, I powered up my old 360, navigated to the store and was then miraculously able to use the credit to buy this awesome game.

Will purchasing this on Xbox store right now, still work on Friday?
I always hold onto old consoles & their games. Never saw the point in trading in vs new consoles, that have limited titles on launch and you're getting pennies for your favourite games.
Only system I've ever sold was a DS lite, and that was against a 3DS which could play all my old DS games and I still have my old silver original DS. I upgraded my 360 a couple of times, from; 120GB elite -> 250GB slim -> 320GB Halo4 slim. Justified that as I was getting better hardware with slim, and then a game, custom controllers and custom shell with halo4 console (and new warranties on both).
As for the XB1, the Scorpio is interesting but basically now any of the XB1 exclusives will be coming to PC (and I just updated my gaming PC to w10, for DX12), so I'll probably not get an XB1 at all now. Unless I picked up a 4K TV and wanted a UHD blu-ray drive, the slim XB1 is a great value proposition for that.
But the PS4 Neo will probably have a UHD drive too, will likely come sooner and still has exclusives I can't get on PC. So I'll probably get the Neo at some point.
The Nintendo "NX" is the only one I'm unsure of. I loved my Gamecube (probably one of my all time favourite consoles), but after buying Wii on launch it left me cold with all those game droughts. So I held off on WiiU until there was a decent library of games I wanted to play. Still waiting...
Hopefully the NX will do better, and get wider third party support, but after the Wii I'll never buy another of their consoles on launch.

6 Jul 16#184
have to say i have little or no interest in the NX jsut looks like its going to be another Nintendo console with a gimmick, i would of buy at launch if it turns out to be just a pure gaming console and i think others would,

Wow this is strange, I was in Game on Monday and went to buy Red Dead Redemption with hope that it would be on backwards compatibility soon... The price on Monday was £19.99 in store, pre owned! I couldn't believe it, for reference it was £7.99 for the PS3.
I guess they knew it was going to be announced and wacked the price up before hand.

cex prices gone up to £8 fir regular and £15 for GOTY
Spidersmudge

i do find it funny some of those complaining about the price hike are some of the same people that said it wasn't coming or insulted people months ago who posted deals when it could be gotten for a couple of quid, hell i manged to get mine from game for 99p!

Was going to grab this after work. Can't believe they doubled the price! I bought £20 credit for xbox sales and then realised you can't actually use it via xbox.com or xbone for backwards compatible games! What a joke!
johnwillowlfc
6 Jul 16#200
it is a joke, thought they would update so you could buy 360 games on x1 dashboard or xbox.com, you can only use credit to buy X360 games on a X360 console!
Spidersmudge
6 Jul 162#201
I think I might do that haha. I'm so shocked by the hype this has created but it would be worth buying on Xbox One purely to play the well populated multiplayer that will now arise as a result of this happening. The multiplayer is so fun
mudstuff
6 Jul 161#202
Agreed. Though to clarify your point "you can only use credit on a x360 console", you can of course use it on xbone - just not to buy 360 games. Thought it was worth spelling out so someone doesn't get their knickers in a twist lol.
I was going to buy South Park and Red Dead which will now cost me to buy separately lol. That's what happens when I try to be clever and convert Game trade in credit to xbox credit rather than spending real money

No, if you have the base game only the multiplayer DLC is free, the Undead is a separate purchase unless you have the GOTY edition.

It could be time to get the xb1 s when the 500gb comes out. My TV is 4k and hdr and the xb1 s player uhd bluray. The price of £250 is a bargain. I'll wait for the review of the bluray player and of good them I'll buy and can play my all time favourite game again. RDR is absolutely superb

If it helps, no I don't think it is. I purchased it via the website, and my Undead DLC that I purchased years ago (the add-on, not the standalone game or pack) was available to download after I got the main game. I can't see how you'd use the XBOX one to get the DLC if you've not got the game itself in your list of available downloads.
For less than two pints, it seemed daft not to get it again anyway, and no need to fanny on with swapping disks.
Thanks, seems like I got everything for a decent price, I too bought the Add on on day one year's ago (when I owned the disc). Never even got into Undead Nightmare back then so it'll be nice to discover it!
I forgot how good every little thing about this game is!
Opening post
And let's face it, £4 alone is a deal in it's own sense.
It's currently £6.24 digitally on the Xbox Store. This news has just gone live in the last 18 minutes, so I would expect a rise soon.
Obviously some won't appreciate the heads up, but see it as a nice little heads up and a great price (I feel).
Edit 20:12: Removed Grainger Games as they have bumped the price to £17.99 (standard) and £24.99 (GOTY).

Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360 download) - £6.24
Starting on Friday, every Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 owner will be able to play the game directly on their Xbox One, regardless of which version of the game they own (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare and Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition)[/i]. And for those who have yet to experience it, the game will be available to purchase on Friday from the Games Store on Xbox One.
Red Dead Undead Nightmare Collection is currently £3.99 delivered at Game.
Gonna watch some unforgiven or open range tonight to get me in the mood!
As for the game, absolutely loved it, cant go back though, already got 100% with all online golden guns etc. Great times

That said, as already mention, £6.24 from Xbox.com is a great price too.

I own it physically, but I am seriously tempted to pick it up as a freebie with that £7 Microsoft gave me for the Fallout 4 misprice.
I managed to buy sleeping dogs and tomb raider with no problems.
Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack
Outlaws to the End Co-op Mission Pack
Hunting and Trading Pack
Hopefully we get all the DLC for free but have the disc to fall back on.
Right now on CEX it is £4, but just like black op which was £5 the day before it went BC, this will also rise in price, but not in trade in value, you might have a chance before it dawns on CEX tomorrow to grab it cheap.

But at under £7 on the Xbox marketplace at least you can still grab it at a low price.
So the cheevies are all there for the taking.

Black ops 1 I bought for £3, sold for 20 after it went backwards compatible
Best possible option now is from Xbox.com for £6.24. CEX have upped the Game of the Year Edition from £10 to £15.
£6.24 from MS is a no brainer at the moment
A: not to get rid of last gens console
B: have both consoles
Few copies still available
Or do I need to put my DVDs in and Download the content because only the DL version will play on the Xbox One?
