"EA has announced the next three games that it will be adding to its EA Access vault. Subscribers on Xbox One will get two more titles on July 12. Another will be added on August 30.
Next week, Coldwood’s Unravel and Ghost Games’ Need for Speed will be free with an EA Access membership. On August 30, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 joins the party.
Additionally, EA has announced early play time windows for three sports games. The Madden NFL 17 first play trial begins on August 18. On September 8, members can take to the ice early with NHL 17. Finally, on September 22, FIFA 17 opens up for EA Access subscribers.
For those looking ahead to Battlefield 1, early play starts on October 13."
That's a ridiculously stupid upcoming line-up for EA Access, if not absolutely brilliant.
I nearly picked up PvsZ2 yesterday (before being denied at checkout) on the PlayStation 4. Great news for all the titles, cheers cra1gy123, heated

I'm not sure us as PlayStation owners can really complain. I mean EA Access is definitely amazing value and it's one of the two reasons I own an Xbox One, along with Games with Gold.
But let's face it, it doesn't really even come close to the amazingly valued £12.99 a month PlayStation Now with it's 230 classic PlayStation 3 games, does it? :smirk:

Can you sign up to EA access and have all the past games in your account OR is it like GWG and PS Plus, where you join and your game addition to your account starts from that day?

Maybe it would be good if they would allow people who own a ps3 game digitally to stream it for free like how ps now works. All this bull about the ps4 can't do backwards capability when they have the technology already set up.
prynolfc

They should have just made the PS4 bacwards compatible like xbox though, I am a Sony fan too mate, but charging ua for games we've bought once before is a con, they're soo greedy!!

NFS is very meh
Also its nice of them to add something that isn't a sports game or 360 game. Been a long time since October.

It's not
Streaming costs Sony money... No business is going to willingly hemorrhage money like that.
Jase87
6 Jul 16#55
The PS4 isn't powerful enough to emulate a PS3..
I don't think people truly appreciate how complex the PS3's architecture was/is.. Sony gambled big time on the cell processor and they ended up creating a machine so complex that devs were only just starting to understand as the generation was dying.
The PS4 on the other hand is a standard x86-64 architecture that is completely different.. games would need to be redeveloped and ported over for them to work.
The only way the PS4 could have had native backwards compatibility would have been for Sony to put the PS3 inside the PS4.. Which would have significantly increased manufacturing costs and added many complications.
prynolfc
6 Jul 16#56
they should just make the old games free to download then, and ps now offers ps3 games doesn't it?

Being able to download PS3 games on a PS4 would be useless as it can't run them! PS Now essentially works by Sony running the game on an actual PS3 and then you stream the output to your PS4 (or other device). With Microsoft they can emulate a 360 on a Xbox One so no 360 is needed, with PS3 games an actual physical PS3 is needed to run the game still as the architecture is so different.
So on Xbox One you can download 360 games and run them on your X1, on PS4 you stream games running on a PS3 somewhere else, which is a lot more expensive so Sony charge for it.

7 Jul 16#77
No it's not possible! PS3 is so radically different that is incredibly difficult to emulate even with a powerful PC, certainly not to a state of running at even half decent frame rate.
The PS3 design is VERY hard to emulate. Effectively, its a 7 core processor, with a high speed data cache the CPU's get "fed" instructions from. Very hard to emulate this type of system, even if you had infinite processing power. And we don't by the way; the software locks you would need to prevent corruption (remember: You need to maintain the states to SEVEN CPU units, while keeping the memory state sane. NOT easy to do; one CPU gets too far ahead, bam, you corrupted memory.) kill performance.
360 is easier to do, as its architecture is more sane
dave859
7 Jul 16#78
Never knew Sony said its was possible, that just makes the whole situation even worse. If they can do it then get it done & stop all this ps now crap. Same with their ea access boycott. I'm sick of all this For the players rubbish.

Good to see some none sports games being added! I've let my Xbox Live Gold & EA Access have expire while I catch up with a few games in my backlog.

i think both Microsoft & Sony should of gone full hardware backwards compatable from the word go. when a new console comes out they seem to think collections of last gens games become obsolete but people still want to play them. Give people choice even if it means releasing a bigger sized & more expensive premium ps4/xboxone.
