I have been looking for a reliable external hard drive and I want something that is about 2-3TB what else besides storage capacity do I need to consider when purchasing a hard drive? What is the main cost driving factor(what feature causes the price to go up)?

Most Toshiba's like this have been fine for me. As Twe + Beljim says try another cable, try ordering a 3.0 splitter cable in case it's not getting enough juice or adjust the sleep settings :smiley:

Oh I see, totally misread that lol! I know on the XB1 it works perfectly through USB and heard it did the same for PS4 externally :P

it may also be going to sleep. see if you can change the sleep policy.

My toshiba portable drive seems to eject itself from my mac every few minutes. Anyone got a solution? Don't want to replace it with another toshiba if it's just gonna happen again.

When benchmarking, we saw CrystalDiskMark sequential read/write speeds of 143MBps/136MBps, and in PCMark 8 the drive achieved a storage score of 2038.

can anyone tell me what is the read / write speed please?

I think regarding PS4, they're wondering if they can crack open the enclosure and install the 3TB drive as the PS4's internal storage, as it's not super useful over USB.
