Thanks for posting! This is a great deal and the code works with the full live services update too - which includes speed cameras. I had the live services free for first 3 years but that ran out last month. It was £80 to renew in June, but now with their sale and this code it works out at £21.97. I'm no deliberate speeder but I've missed the average speed-camera function and the way it re-routes me to avoid heavy traffic.

The TomTom usually has a SD card slot to allow storage of additional maps, and/or backing up of maps. So if you back-up the old map onto the SD card, remove the card, delete the map from the device and download the new map that should do you.

What I'm saying is if people actually looked and assessed the road they were driving on and NOT on their phones at traffic lights or eating a kebab or worrying about whatever the elderly people worry about)
Then we'd all get to our destinations a little faster. If that means driving 29mph in a 30 the. Yea.
Gozer

I believe that the police have to make the information publicly available 7 days in advance, with regards to the location that a mobile speed camera van will be parked montoring traffic. That information is then input by third parties and shared across various sat nav devices.
WBRacing
5 Jul 164#131
The rules changed and so mobile units can only park in road safety assessed locations. No more parking on verges, behind hedges, behind bus shelters etc..
Too many of them were parked in places that could have caused the very accidents they were claiming to try and prevent.
But lets not confuse their purpose. It is all about $AFETY. :man:

A 450 mile, 7 hour drive uses ~15mb of data on Waze for me. It's simplistic graphics amongst other things make it incredibly efficient. It's traffic and route handling is nothing short of brilliant. Over the last two years I cannot begin to comprehend how many hours of traffic jams (and thus fuel costs) it has saved me from.

I'm sure there are instances where they have caused accidents. This is no doubt caused by the driver slamming on the anchors in the wet when they see the Police car - no doubt worrying it's a speed camera, and they end up losing control https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6wCwR5F35o

That might have been true if the only thing on the line was driving penalty points.
However, since these things are happily used to dispense monetary fines, that's not as true as we'd like it to be.
It's not as bad as in the states where authorities have been caught reducing the amber light times in order to make more money from red light cameras, at the direct expense of the safety they are intended to promote.
But you better believe speed cameras are being factored into budgets up and down the country, and they're not always placed where people are unsafe to speed, sometimes they're placed where they are likely to speed by accident.
jonni2bad
5 Jul 16#115
Highway Code failure right there...
There is NO provision in the highway code for you to move forward through red lights to let an emergency vehicle pass by you. You can, if directed by a uniformed officer, cross the white line - but that's a rare example.
If the red light in question was covered by a camera device, you would be liable to prosecution (as recently reported in the national media).

I enjoy slowing to 45mph on dual carriageways where it's marked 40mph when approaching roundabouts in the right lane, then sticking at 45mph up to the 30mph just before the roundabout and "inadvertently" blocking those who want to turn right but think it's a smart idea to try undertake. Funny how those in their Audis and BMWs who just want to be in front of everyone else can't understand those speed limits are there to help the traffic flow better. I've never once had a speeding ticket in 8 years of driving.
It does. However I think Red Light Alert should be removed! Different to the speed cameras, if you get caught by traffic light camera, you really deserved it! Under no circumstances should one ignore traffic light unless there was an emergency vehicle with flashing lights behind you.
I disagree with your views about the 70 mph limit. Our small country can not be compared with Germany. Britain is also leading the emission reduction initiative making our air healthier to breathe.

As for France I don't think tom tom will give you speed cameras. What you get are 'danger zones' which are allowed and will give a warning of an area where there may be some cameras or other hazard, the difference is the cameras are not pinpointed, just a general area on the road.

I thought that sat nav/apps with speed/safety camera detection were illegal in most parts of Europe? I'm all for speed cameras in built up areas especially near schools and hospitals. No reason to go over 20/30 mph whatsoever. Red light cameras definitely worth having too.
However 70mph on motorways like the M1 and M6 are ridiculous. Modern cars can accelerate to that in few seconds and have quicker stopping distance than decades ago. It really needs to change. German autobahns are wonderful.

Then ur a d1ck
Now go back to mumsnet.
Same with speed limit. And also you must never go through a red light, even with an emergency vehicle behind you. Loads of stories like this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1204944/Driver-gets-60-fine-moving-yard-red-light-let-police-van-999-pass.html

Have you applied the code in the description

I can tell by the reaction in my rear view mirror that my going 20 in a 20 or 30 in a 30 pees certain people off but screw 'em, I'm saving fuel and reducing the chances of anything too bad happening if something unexpected happened on the road in front of me.
Thanks in advance
But they now change £20 per year unless you submit a uniqe camera
Used to be free back in the day
Anyway, it is less than £4 to buy ... if it isn't for you, it probably isn't worth your time worrying about, let alone typing about!
A13 London near isle of dog the speed drop from 50mph to 30 than increase to 40 than drop to 30.
WTF
why not make it constant??
These cameras are mostly in places where people are of guard and councils can rip them.
Thanks!
heat added +4
voucher code should work on live and maps too
only 1 time use only though
brings live from £30 to £22 which includes premium maps according to page
However 70mph on motorways like the M1 and M6 are ridiculous. Modern cars can accelerate to that in few seconds and have quicker stopping distance than decades ago. It really needs to change. German autobahns are wonderful.
It's a safety camera, you know to make sure your driving safe, strange it only measures speed though. In built up areas if you speed then you're a d1ck!
I bow down to you, it must be great to be perfect
