Winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards, The Last of Us has been rebuilt for the PlayStation 4 system. Now featuring full 1080p, higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, in addition to several other gameplay improvements.
20 years after a pandemic has radically changed known civilization, infected humans run wild and survivors are killing each other for food, weapons; whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a violent survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal journey across the U.S.

Fair comment. I'll never be on board the 'This is the best game ever' train but for what it was, a linear story driven game I enjoyed it enough to finish it. I just wish it was a bit more open and had some consequences to your actions and/or choices, but then again as you could probably tell from my last post I'm a sucker for RPG's, and TLOU isn't an RPG obviously. If TLOU 2 (it's inevitable!) adds a bit of exploration to go with the tight story and good atmosphere the game created then sign me up for it! Resident Evil 1 and 2, along with Nemesis, will always be by far my favourite zombie games but after that there isn't much I've enjoyed, so in fairness TLOU would definitely be 2nd. I do play a lot of DayZ on my PC but despite the few zombies here and there it's much more of a player vs player survival game!
My bad in regards to my earlier comments, and I hope you find something that will interest you soon buddy.

Zombie was free on PS+ recently - have you tried that - it's not bad.

Thanks. As you point out LOU isn't the same genre as role-playing. Personally I'm much more into shooters/action/survival. In this respect I found LOU very entertaining. Not sure I'd call it the best game ever, but it certainly was one of the best in this particular genre. But our exchange/preferences aside, I am genuinely looking for something that is as good as LOU....or better. Some Resident Evil(s) have come close, but I'm really quite bored with all the COD's, Battlefields, etc. I'm looking for something with atmosphere and perhaps a new gameplay mechanism. I thought Alien Isolation was reasonable on this front. I'm open to suggestions.

Ok, suit yourself. But you are clearly afraid of naming anything you consider better than LOU and go straight to name calling instead. Not exactly a way to debate anything outside the playground.

For a start I don't compare them to my favourite games such as The Witcher 3, The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Dragon Age: Origins and both Shenmue games. They're completely different types of games.
But, in my opinion, TLOU is repetitive, relatively short due to a lack of content and the story, for me, is massively over-rated and doesn't really offer anything new whatsoever. Whenever I've asked people to justify why they believe it's 'the best game ever' the answer I usually get is just because of the story and/or characters.

Really absurd answer, when someone is asking you to validate your opinion. So just stick to the point, what are these better games?

Why would I feel like I need to validate my opinion for you in any shape or form? I'm not about to get into a debate with what is clearly a fanboy, as it's absolutely pointless.

No you're not. You're being a bit of a numpty and throwing your toys out the pram.

You are deflecting away from my question, name some better games?
I'm genuinely interested and will start reading reviews for them and may even buy some of them. So what are they?

Ok, for those who think this is just average, what do you think is better?

Pretty much any game that doesn't have a run of the mill storyline full of cliches and repetitive gameplay inside extremely linear maps. From what I remember it was also a pretty short game too, especially if you take the cutscenes away. It's a game that so desperately wanted to be a movie, in my opinion.
Not saying it's a poor game by any means as it wasn't. It had some lovely graphics (if you're a console only user which I'm not) and both Joel and Ellie were relatively well written characters, although nothing that hasn't been done a million times before. For me the Multiplayer was the best thing about the game, spoiled by some truly terrible players and angry Russians.

The online was alright but the rest of it was an utter chore to get through if you ask me. Massively overrated but if it appeals to you then I suppose this isnt a bad price.

Enjoyed the game overall but it's massively over-rated in my opinion. Average story (though main characters are well developed) and very linear and repetitive gameplay. The Multiplayer can be a lot of fun, but also equally frustrating with the amount of bad players that rage quit games time after time. Very rarely will you finish a game 4vs4.

Still my best story game ever so far. Still waiting for a game that will top this, but doesn't look that's going to happen anytime soon. PS4 version is so detailed over the PS3 version. Multiplayer is also really good fun, addictive and well made (brutal and pretty realistic). I think Walking Dead got a lot of ideas from this

A great game. A really great game.
Worth buying it even if you have played/owned the PS3 original.
