simplehuman's slim pedal bin has a space-efficient shape that fits perfectly in tight spots, like between cabinets. It has an oversised rim designed to grip and hold bin liners in place so they don't slip. Its minimal unibody construction requires no additional inner bucket, making it lightweight and easy to clean. The strong steel pedal is built to last, and lid shox technology ensures a smooth, silent close every time.
HWD: 60 x 54.5 x 26cm

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on mine and maybe reserve the pedal use for when my hands are actually full, it's just as easy to lift the lid if you've got a free hand.

the plastic parts where the screws hold the lid section at the back failed one by one. the lid could still be opened by hand.
the bin was a moving in present so we had no idea where to go. Simplehuman said the bin was discontinued so said they could replace up to £59.99... there are only plastic bins available for that, so we ended up with one worth about £40.

Just picked one up and the lid opening mechanism seems quite sturdy, how did yours fail?
Also if it was within a few months why did you invoke the manufacturers warranty, surely the retailer would still be liable under the 'Supply of Goods and Services Act' to fix or replace like for like (or better).

is there a plastic insert in this? Bought a simple human one before without and got sick of cleaning bin juice from the internal components. Had to to return it.

Problem with the bin is the dimensions, would not fit anywhere in our kitchen as it's really suited for a gap in between units as it's more narrow and quite deep, also if you then put it under a unit you cannot open it fully due to the large lid which they have now sorted on the newer model. But at £30 I suppose you could put up with it poking out a little.

I have the plastic squarer style and I think it's designed for going alongside fridges and on the outside of units with no worktop above. I have mine under a 'breakfast bar' (well, two, back to back) and it does whack on the worktop, but I can live with that.
