On the halfords one, somewhere on the label it will tell you an ACEA specification, your car manual will tell you what specification you need in that vehicle.

there are many -

A/B: gasoline and diesel engine oils = ACEA A1/B1, ACEA A3/B3, ACEA A3/B4, ACEA A5/B5
C: Catalyst compatibility oils = ACEA C1, ACEA C2, ACEA C3, ACEA C4.
E: Heavy Duty Diesel engine oils = ACEA E4, ACEA E6, ACEA E7, ACEA E9

This Shell Ultra AF oil is: ACEA A5/B5; Ford WSS-M2C913-C; Jaguar Land Rover STJLR.03.5003

Could be headgasket issue? Is it drinking alot of water? Also check the coolant if it looks oily, thats your culprit HTH
