I considered getting a retro console like this to relive my childhood and play some old master system games, however I was concerned about the build quality on these items.
In the end I opted for a PSP for £20 which I managed to get a custom firmware and download master system, snes, megadrive immulators and get unlimited games.
I am not a tech genius but managed to follow instructions online and taken whole of 10mins to do.

Unlike emulators this has no save game function to keep your progress. Old-school like the original (cheats and passwords only).

Agreed. It's much better just to buy a PSP instead.
Not only wasn't this made by Sega but it's also low quality built so you'd be better off just buying a PSP and downloading roms to it. Yeah, roms are a grey area and all but considering PSPs are very cheap nowadays it's a no brainer to go with that instead.
As for the Mini NES, that's actually produced by Nintendo than outsourced to AtGames or some other crappy company.

Yeah I was about to say a cheap used PSP with all the emulators on will be a much better buy. More versatile, better quality screen, bang for buck etc.

Brought one from amazon a few weeks back for the same price. Emulation not hardware. Sound emulator is terrible though.
Gameplay is fime. Sd slot good for storing games.

Nip on to the gbatemp forums, the guides there are usually excellent. I did the same with my PSP some time ago.
Think I paid about £20 at Argos a few months ago. I also have a PSP & PSP GO. I keep my Sega ultimate on my bedside table and if I fancy a game when I go to bed I can have a quick blast. Putting games on SD card is pretty easy too.

I can't comment on this specific device, but I've heard these types of things can have naff sound so if you like good sound emulation be aware.
In regards to ROMs, on Steam the "Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics" games are distributed as unencrypted ROMs.
I just tested them myself using gens, the only issues were that the file extensions might need renaming and they were EU roms, but still, this is one of the few times I've seen it possible to legally buy usable ROMs like this without some kind of hacking to extract them (not including abandonware, etc).

Cut the crap people. A £25 Android box gives you an Internet smart TV with YouTube iplayer kodi Netflix.. And you can install any emulator you want and play it on the big screen.

I love my one of these. TV out works rather well and gets decent battery life.
I just ordered a pxp slimslation (handheld with 150 megadrive games built in) for £8.99 off ebay. Looks cheap and terrible but for under £10 worth trying out. YouTube reviews were actually quite favourable.

If you want tv out from the psp then buy a 2000/3000 or a GO. If you want to be able to use a Bluetooth controller when it's connected to a tv them the GO is required.

While a PSP is a good option lets be fair and accurate on using roms. Is a bit like streaming new movies. Sometimes it is just like watching a DVD, and sometimes its like watching it through the view of someone with a little Fuji camera, with heads in the cinema, and poor sound. Roms are much the same, sure there are some perfect roms, but there are also plenty that crash and are plagued with bugs, missing sprites, glitches and so on.

I heard the screen on these are good. I'm waiting for somebody better at wiring than I am to post a YouTube video on how to remove the screen, and put it in a game gear, now that would be sweet

If you know where to get the games with their proper non-broken versions then that won't happen. I've never had any issues with roms or films from the web. Obviously don't visit websites like "Download Free Movies" because that's without a doubt viruses. :laughing:
