Just my luck, I spent a week or so looking at hard drive prices and then purchased two of the 4TB versions of this drive on Monday for £91.59 each, had I waited I could have got an extra TB per drive for less than a tenner :disappointed:.
To chime in on the debate about hard drives, I've got 25 SATA hard drives (1TB/2TB/4TB range) and the two drives that have failed are:
1TB Samsung HD103SJ
1TB WD Caviar Black
I currently have more Seagate hard drives than anything else (2TB Seagate Barracuda - ST2000DM001).
Hopefully they will all last a long time.
Maybe someone will find this useful, the drives in the 4TB version of this external drive are Seagate ST4000DM000, the OEM version was more expensive to buy than the external drive.

Hmm maybe I'm just really unlucky, I've had two die and I won't be purchasing a third. Think my next one will be a WD they seem to be quite popular with people.

that would support the stats as its the 3TB drive being the worst

I bought a Seagate 4tb external harddrive while I was at uni, which was like 3 years ago, I had it plugged in 24/7 for 2 years straight, but I bought 1 computer fan for it, and that was constantly blowing on it, and this harddrive never got warm, never had any failures, and to this day it still is going strong.
People just don't take care of their stuff then complain about it

Too many people tend to keep them connected on powered on all of the time and that is why they don't last. I have an old 1TB Seagate external drive that I have had for 6 years, its used as a dump drive for software and game install files so gets turned on once every few months to back up any new stuff that I have acquired.
It is like a lot of things when not used for what they are intended

If anyone is interested whilst the 5TB is expired the 3TB is available off the same link for £59.56 delivered which is still less than £20 per TB

I thought the limit for Xbox was 4TB. Unless that has changed again...

Worth calling Amazon as they do try to price match with their competitors.

Tried that, they were unable to price match, so I just bough the cheaper one,
By the way, every seller selling on Amazon website is under the A-Z guarantee claim, so at least I know Amazon got my back if anything goes wrong.

It's a Seagate so prepare to replace it when it dies shortly after the warranty runs out.
