Great price for this Seagate 8TB external hard drive (works out ~£23.75 per TB).
With the price of WD Red drives so high lately (eg. 6TB = £206.99) this is probably your best bang for buck for storage at the moment.

There's no way I'm trusting half of my porn to a Seagate disc.

That's not true, some older Seagate external drives had there connectors soldered onto the USB Interface. Just like some 2.5" ones.

Why wouldn't it have SATA? There isn't a single 3.5" external HDD that has a native USB interface (where the SATA connector has been replaced by USB). Are you thinking of 2.5" external HDDs?

Possibly, but not if you use a RAID setup. These are archive drives which use Shingled Magnetic Recording (SHR) to cram more data on to the disk. The downside is that SHR drives write more slowly than a normal drives and SHR drives can get very slow when you're writing a lot of data (basically, once you've filled the cache on the drive).
Yes, once out of the casing it has normal sata connectors like any other internal drive... taking it out of the enclosure was a bit tricky, but to be fair I planned on reusing it for another drive so did everything real slow and carful...

Got 2 of these from Argos a couple weeks ago for £200 each... Just FYI the drive inside is ST8000AS0002 and you get 7.27TB of usable space. Only issue I have is once you pull the drives out of the enclosure it only has 4 screw holes instead of the normal six for mounting.

So ripping the drive out is no issue, standard sata connectors? Thanks
