Picked up the last one in Romford (Gallows Corner), none in Roneo corner
SE208GB model, firmware MF00.
Single USB, rather short cable, connector is MINI-B, not the more common micro (phone cable) format.
24X CD (read, R, RW) CD-RW compatibility likely to be high speed / ultra speed - modern drives tend not to handle old spec CD-RW media of 2x and 1-4x.
8X on DVD +/-R, +RW
6X write / 8X read on DVD dual layer and DVD-RW
5X on DVD-RAM
Supports M-disc
Hmm, single plug USB2, have they really got this down to the 500mA capability, or are they pushing it?

There is a trick.
Move mouse pointer towards the thumbnail and open image in new window
Go to the window and you will see **http://static.hotukdeals.com/images/threads/2473074_1.jpg**
Just before the numbers of the filename, type in high-res i.e
**http://static.hotukdeals.com/images/threads/high-res/2473074_1.jpg**
remove the **
and bingo. so the image becomes.

Can we have the make / model number please. Too many people making assumptions already on what it can or can't do. Impossible given the lack of info.

Will work fine on any computer with USB port. Windows should automatically detect. Can sometimes be interesting if DVD writer already installed. Sometimes does not like 2 DVD drives, but why do this?
On EBAY USB 2.0 DVD/CD external drives for around £6. If coming from China can take up to three weeks or so. A USB 2.0 is perfectly good enough even for a USB 3.0 port (downwards compatible). Should come with cable. Quality will be fine. All built in China anyway.

and regarding a usb adaptor so it can be connected to an android tablet for example, would this work or would it not even recognise an external dvd writer?

should be fine.some of the old netbooks had tiny storage in those cases i wouldn't bother. 4gb hard drives and the like.

Will certainly do for the laptop.

sorry, Im a bit useless when it comes to technology, so as a 'usb' drive, is it feasible that this would also connect to a tablet via a mini hdmi to usb converter cable...say for the transfer of music to tablet from cd's?? or indeed, I bought my wife a hp 11.1" windows 10 notebook, with no internal dvd rw, but it does have usb port, would it work in this? sorry, like I say, I am useless with this stuff

are these compatible with all laptops/notebooks etc?

it's just a usb dvd drive, not something you should try and fit inside a laptop as it won't be suitable for a huge amount of laptops.
dvd internal drives come in all sorts of sizes, screw holes in different places etc.. different size bezels and so on.
If you are using it as intended as a usb drive it should work on all modern laptops with a decent spec.
