I paid £500 for a Samsung American Fridge Freezer about 8 years ago. I didn't have to have internal doors removed but I did have the bathroom waste pipe repositioned though the garage instead of the kitchen to find somewhere it would fit. I prefer "plumbed in" to avoid the hassle of "topping up"... and the icemaker.. oh the icemaker. I'm going to get an ice cream and rub myself up against it right now.

Mmm main course of onions and peppers followed by a big piece of cake with extra icing. My favourite.

I've got th i s fridge . AO delivered it , unpacked it , put it in the kitchen for me and took the packaging away . I love the brita filter but it does cut down on the storage compartment in the door . As for it being difficult to move , it's on wheels . Piece of cake

Code seems to work on all American fridge-freezers, some really nice ones at good prices. Anyone know when the code expires? Wouldn't mind taking the plunge but could do with waiting a few weeks...

I purchased the older model (RSA1WTMH) of this in Dec 2010 for a bargain £450. Nearly 2 years later, Nov 2012 I reported some issues including a noisy fan, some trays that were getting stuck and freezer light stopped working. The Samsung Engineer came and verified there was a manufacturer issue and I was delivered this new model as a replacement. My guarantee was restarted from Nov 2012. Had no such complaints with this newer model.

Has to be said however, that the fan on these are not quiet. I'm very happy with this model. Only will highlight that they are extremely large and heavy so delivery can be an issue. With me I removed an internal door to accommodate and the unit had to be unboxed to bring inside. I believe they can also remove the doors from the unit if needed.

Only other negative point is that the freezer design is a bit space inefficient. There is considerable gap between the freezer door trays and the main freezer shelves. Hence, I am not able to utilise the freezer as per its capacity.

Also, do be aware that if there is anything that prevents the freezer from fully closing (only just), the door may look shut but the alarm does not detect and you can end up with frost building up inside the freezer section. Not tested the alarm sensor on the fridge side if the concern would be the same.

I still recommend this unit (RSA1RTMG) as I have not seen for much below £700 since.

I've had one of these for 5 years
does what it says on the tin
Water filter is a brita jug (self fill - which on reflection would have preffered plumbed) which we hardly ever bother with anymore - obviously it's in the fridge too so doesn't do Ice
Works perfectly - display is nice but pointless. Set the temp. leave it for 5 years

Had one of these and freezing element went. Found out a few of the RSA models are very well known to be problematic. Am surprised to see them still being sold to be honest. Maybe they've rectified? My advice would be to Google them first and read up on them as no one wants the bother a faulty fridge freezer can bring.

Don't think the images are the same fridge, the interior shot doesn't show the brita dispenser? Just a thought as I have either this or an older model...

I'm tempted to agree with you, but I am very happy with my American fridge/freezer, no regrets.

I have a Panasonic version. They sent one man to deliver and it fell and damaged the door.
They redelivered a second damaged one.
Third time, it was a struggle.
If I ever refit the kitchen it will be a nightmare to move.

Conclusion. Better buy two separate units. One freezer and one refrigerator and keep them side-by-side for an easier life. Most UK houses are not designed for these units.

Ordered an American fridge from ao told them I lived on second floor and they sent 2 men to deliver a big fridge freezer they refused to even try so beware of these if you live up high
