Hi yeah the controller is X input so gets picked up by steam and steam games as an Xbox pad. Streaming is brilliant. It's a nice comfy set up and neater than what you have now as its all in one and you don't need to rest your tablet anywhere. I played a marathon session of Lost Planet 1 on it (installed on the tablet) for 5 hours and it was never strenuous. One thing for people who want to install games on it best to get a fast branded sd card. Some cheaper cards I tried on mine didn't work too well when installing games to it. Sandisk works a treat though. Oh another thing is when you have installed Windows updates go into settings and storage and remove old version of Windows files. Frees up nearly 10gb.

I have had one since launch and it's a great machine. I installed Steam on it and it runs many games great installed directly on it. Skyrim runs nice, Just Cause 2, Arkham Asylum and City all run great. Dead Space 2 runs super smooth.
My only issue is protecting it. It's bulky with the controller dock and there are no bespoke cases for it. I bought a cheap 13 inch laptop sleeve from pound land but it's not very elegant or practical.
For this price it's a steal and I just ordered another. It's better built than those Chinese cheap cherry trail tabs with the bonus of the controller dock which was built by the same factory that makes the official Xbox controllers apparently

plays all my music and video files and let's me stream my videos to xbox. game streaming is pretty cool.
kodi works on it but you have to swap to pc mode not tablet mode (which is fine I prefer pc mode)
i do miss android but honestly for what it cost its a solid little tablet.

Reply from technical support for linxsupport
As far as we are aware all Micro SD devices are supported. (Tested up to 200GB)
With an SD card in you can change the default location of where items are stored. (Start > Settings > Storage)
You can save Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos all to the SD card, Apps seem to only support drive C: though.

I agree with other reviews. Great little unit. Not had chance to play much on it yet, seems hit and miss what works really. Couldn't get hotline miami to work, but got bardbarian, fallout nv, dead island and final fantasy 7 all working on unit. Don't have xbox so unsure on streaming.
Speakers in the unit seem a bit crap. Haven't tried headphones for the interference but have heard it's an issue.
Will be having a proper play tomorrow and following the guides on the forum to setup bios for peak performance.

How is the steam game streaming (from my main desktop to this tablet) performance? Would I be able to use my desktop and have the controller on this work to play games?
Debating this one still, I have a tablet with an i5 and similar specs to the original surface pro (8gb ram, 256 ssd, 1080p screen). Using that with an xbox controller and works decently to use steam in home streaming. Wondering if this would be an upgrade or downgrade from that set up?

Its an all in one unit. I've had a go of one in PC World.
The way I'm looking at it is, I have a hudl 2 that I paid around £70 for new. They have messed it up with an update and said they aren't supporting it any more. So the battery is now terrible and takes days to charge.
If this will play my YouTube, and possibly a few emulators, it will do the same as my hudl for the same price. Then if it can play a few of my older steam games, how can't this be a good option?

Don't bother.
I was really, REALLY looking forward to this on release, and sold my Linx 8 in preparation. When I eventually got it I was very disappointed - the tablet itself is very boxy and heavy, more akin to the Surface Pro 2 than the slim and light Linx 8. Streaming games, as expected, was a bad experience over standard 2.4Ghz WiFi, but was better over 5Ghz dual-band. But the main issue was the controller - the buttons and sticks just feel out of place, muscle memory was telling me that the right stick was BELOW the face buttons, not above them!
I started to write a review, but within two days the unit (mercifully) died, so I returned it for a refund.I wasn't all that gutted, as from the short time I spent with it, the Linx Vision is a great idea but horribly realized. I will include my (incomplete) review below if you want to read more.

I've got one of these, paid full price. It's a very nice tablet, great screen for watching Amazon Video on, etc, no issues with responsiveness, etc, the negatives come when the controller thing is on it. Be warned only straight, not L-shaped headphone jacks will fit in as the frame of the controller is thick it inhibits the usual 3.5mm jack's bend. Also there's a slight 'hiss/crackling' sometimes when listening through headphones (no it's not the headphones). Also hand-cramping is real, even after an hour or so, so be warned. No SD card slot cover, so bare that in mind if you plug one in, there's no 'security tab' to hold it in place.
That said, an absolute steal at £70.

15 Jul 16#11
Hmm interesting. I guess I meant more from a spec standpoint. I do want my tablet to be android so I guess that rules out this one. I only want one to browse the net. YouTube and the odd final fantasy or similar rpg. I'm guessing almost any Tablet will be ok for me but I'd rather pay more for more spec and make sure it's going to be good.
I want the new exviuous final fantasy too (forgive my spelling. Don't think that's correct lol).
Yeh the controller I really like. The fact you can keybind your own keys is very appealing and is what's selling the shield for me.
I was going to hold off on the controller though and see if my ps4 one works first as I've heard they do. If not I'll buy a controller later
I was thinking of buying an nvidia shield, how good is that in comparison to this? (as the price of the shield is double this!). I think I prefer the shield mind so price isn't an issue but still interested in comparison
rowly73 to liltman
14 Jul 16#7
i just bought a shield and its good but you need to buy the controller. screen red is great and the controller is a must if you like playing fps or any game for that matter. controller supports a lot of the play store top games but if u want the bet games u need to pay monthly amd stream them from nvidia.
having said all of that £69.99 for a tablet/gaming machine is very cheap and at first glance it seems like a better deal as the shield will set you back 200 inc controller.

14 Jul 16#6
They are different beasts ,The Shield is an Android Tablet , this is a Windows tablet so plugged in to a TV via HDMI would give you a full all be it low powered PC ;
It will run full PC games and also emulators etc one of its main selling points seems to be streaming from the XBOX one which is supposed to work very well .
I can't vouch for it as I don't have one but I do have a Linx 1010L which is well made .

kodi works on it but you have to swap to pc mode not tablet mode (which is fine I prefer pc mode)
i do miss android but honestly for what it cost its a solid little tablet.
Speakers in the unit seem a bit crap. Haven't tried headphones for the interference but have heard it's an issue.
Will be having a proper play tomorrow and following the guides on the forum to setup bios for peak performance.
On my Linx 1010 I have found it easier to just use the web pages instead of the the apps for Facebook , Dropbox , Tapatalk etc so that might help , also everything else can go to SD card .

The Linx is cherry trail, about 40% more powerful graphics power so it will handle it no probs. Based on the vid though I would invest in cheap Bluetooth mouse keyboard combo for advanced controls
Someone said this tablet struggles with anything after 2011 (that isn't XB1 obvs), so EVE is around that age I think.
A mate of mine plays this religiously. Might be fun to join him.
Emulating old console games or playing is one possible use

I don't really understand the streaming thing. Will it play games independently or does it need some kind of link to a desktop/laptop? Sorry. Confused.
Debating this one still, I have a tablet with an i5 and similar specs to the original surface pro (8gb ram, 256 ssd, 1080p screen). Using that with an xbox controller and works decently to use steam in home streaming. Wondering if this would be an upgrade or downgrade from that set up?
Just in case I am playing in bed and the xbox controller stops talking to my xbox directly in the living room.
If anyone has any real world experience of 5ghz streaming of xbox one please post.
Ta.
Had one of the Archos Gamepads which was pretty crap so I'm trying not to waste more money...
Err, that's not that thin, guys...
I do love the price of this, but the only problem is I wouldn't have any games I'd want to play on it as they are all on android lol
Thanks for the help
Some users are happy with their shield, many are unhappy for a range of reasons.
I would go for this over a shield, having owned both.
Edit. This thread is a great resource for those who want to check what games run natively on it. I provided a fair few inputs to it http://www.linxtablet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=1492
If this will play my YouTube, and possibly a few emulators, it will do the same as my hudl for the same price. Then if it can play a few of my older steam games, how can't this be a good option?
My partner got one last week. We were sharing but, at this price we'll have one each :stuck_out_tongue:.
Now to try and find a case for them. I know there isnt a screen protector for it :disappointed:. If anyone has any recommendations for a case, I'd appreciate it .
Got Xbone, got Steam so it gives me the option of playing while the wife watches TV etc.
That said, an absolute steal at £70.
If not I'll buy a controller later
having said all of that £69.99 for a tablet/gaming machine is very cheap and at first glance it seems like a better deal as the shield will set you back 200 inc controller.
It will run full PC games and also emulators etc one of its main selling points seems to be streaming from the XBOX one which is supposed to work very well .
I can't vouch for it as I don't have one but I do have a Linx 1010L which is well made .
It say this...
Take control and dominate the competition with full xbox and pc gaming suport intergrated into the linx vision controller system. Immerse yourself in a new yet familiar gaming experience with dual analogue controllers.
I only really want to get it if the controller is included.
