The game is a great idea dont get me wrong but look.
Collect pokemon.
Collect more to level up the ones you have.
Beat gyms which will have a new leader every 30 mins.
Thats all i can see from this game?
Surely the 3ds games are better? The combat is even worse on go.
Will test with son on the weekend though and then get it if he likes it.

14 Jul 161#25
Been playing it a week and the amount of additional exercise its encouraged me to do it's crazy. For example walking 10km to hatch an egg..
Yeah there's not much player to player interaction in the game but it's a unique way to encourage excercise.
That being said I think the game will die down very quickly once the hype wears off.. I single handed lot conquered a prestige 5 gym today, it's too easy.

Ok someone explain the benefits to me especially for £35
The app probably has to be running right? Which means screen is still on draining battery.
It only allows you to catch pokemon you've already caught before
It alerts you of pokestops but I can't see anywhere that it'll let you collect from them without taking your phone out.

There's eggs which you can incubate and you have to walk a certain distance, I believe 5 Kilometers in order to hatch them, so I guess it's a good thing kids and even adults are walking about when maybe they wouldn't.
I put the game on my phone so I could see what the fuss was about, a lad in work about 20 years younger than me showed me how you play it. I've caught 17 Pokemon and it's interesting to see a game where you know loads of other people are around you in the real world are playing it, so that was a unique experience. Since I work with technology I always investigate new stuff that's coming out, I can't see that my knowledge of this game has helped me significantly, but it was worth looking at. It also killed my phone battery which isn't great anyway. The experiment with this game ended today though, I won't be playing it any further.

Damn kids!!! Why don't you stay in and play your consoles instead of getting exercise and fresh air!!!
In all seriousness, I'm amazed at the amount of people playing it. Whatever people say, it's getting people outside, in the real world and socializing. I've spoken to more different people in the last few days of playing than I have in the past 6 months. It's more than being the very best, like no one ever was... It's good fun and offers a bit of rivalry if your friends are on different teams. Like others, I would like an android wear app but if this manages to save some phone battery, it is a good idea. My friend spoke to some random builder playing it who was using his spare drill battery to charge his phone!
Still... since when does $35 convert to £35...

$35 is £26-27 give or take exchange rates.
£26-27 + 20%VAT is £32-33.
Add £2-3 extra shipping/customs/distribution/postage/storage/etc costs in UK than USA.
Suddenly, not too excessive USD to GBP conversion. Still too much for a button though.

I believe the payment authorisation only lasts 30 days on PayPal. I know because of this SimplyGames take money either on dispatch or within 30 days if the game is out later than that. If they don't take the payment within 30 days they lose the ability to take payment. Quite a few retailers just take the money immediately if you order by PayPal if pre-ordering to avoid losing the ability to take the money, even when they don't charge until dispatch if you pay with credit or debit card.
