I bought yesterday aswell. I'm upgrading from a 8 year old 42 inch panny plasma. Out of all the similarly priced LEDs I've gone for this for the deep blacks, contrast etc. based on the review. I hope I'm not dissapointed. Any other models I should have looked at ? Anyway thanks to the op.

Just coming back here to say thanks OP. They briefly came back in stock and I picked on up for £283. Got it up on the wall yesterday and it's fantastic, absolute bargain. Thank you

I have a 47pft6308 and it's great. The menu a bit slow but it has a brilliant picture. LG panel in it, not vestel.

if you were to buy this couldn't you just skip the android software by installing a fire stick or Chromecast to get the android apps?

I've been advised that this is excellent for gaming up to 200fps. Listing states 200hz. What am I supposed to believe here? :disappointed:

I desperately wanted to buy this a while ago but the android element let's this TV down unfortunately.
Even the reviews on the Philips website are not favourable.
Its not a Vestel or UMC BUT its not made by Philips anymore ( name escapes me).

TP Vision - a subsidiary of Chinese company TPV Technology. Philips gave up making their own TVs a few years ago to concentrate on making nose trimmers.

Ordered. Worth a punt at that price. Only going to be using it for Sky so not really fussed about the android issues.

if I needed a 48" TV today, and smart TV wasn't essential, I'd go for this

Is that the same TV being reviewed? that one is the 48PFT5509, and the review says there are two HDMIs, not four.

I have a sony android tv and it is slow and unresponsive. When you turn it off the sound still comes out for a few seconds. Supposed to be 4k but not impressed by the picture Sony 8005c.I also have a Samsung smart tv which is about 5yrs old which is much better picture etc
While you and others have obviously had issues, its fair to say not everyone has had such a poor experience. On Argos, the average rating is 4/5 from 9 reviews so just trying to give a little balance on this.

Good price. However prefer paying a bit more for 4k

It's about the same price as a Vestel, and despite being a Chinese TV it's better (more reliable) than a Vestel.
I'm assuming you can ignore the 'smart' features and the rest of the set works without bugs as-is?

No - it is buggy on normal TV. Slow to turn on, slow to respond, turns off by itself. Hangs when switching channels or using TV guide.
That one isn't powered by Android. It's Android which lets it down. Promised updates either made it worse or didn't arrive. I kept checking forums even after I returned it. Don't do it - it's a dog! Really!

Even without the smart bit I'd buy it at that price, my Philips tv Cinoes is still going strong after 6 years..
4.5/5 from Trusted Reviews at a price point of £529.00!

I owned the 32" version for about two weeks. Nice TV but terrible software - kept crashing two or three times daily. Took it back to shop in the end. Retailer said Philips pulling out of the UK, only still with Argos due to contract so don't expect ongoing support. See Philips online support forum for all the problems!
