Just got this TV, i was a little concerned over reports of input lag but according to the test, in standard mode i get 17 -22ms lag.

When i turned on game mode, there has gotta be about 1ms lag! The time on my macbook is identical to the screen!
Thought that's basically not possible?


My previous TV is a panasonic Plasma, this is WAY better!

I also couldn't find any reference to HDR but apparently I'm on the latest version. Also couldn't find Amazon anywhere either. What gives?

So I went and purchased this TV to quickly replace one which had shorted out, here is my expert review.

PICTURE QUALITY: Out of the box the picture quality is terrible, over saturated & far to washed out, from in-depth testing & calibration I have found that strangely, the BEST settings for a truly amazing picture is the PHOTO setting, once the PHOTO setting is selected from TV picture settings menu, you can tweak it more by making sure the LIGHT Sensor is set to OFF I have found this mode gives a truly accurate picture and is quite stunning. Also you MUST turn off all ECO-BASED settings, first of all they are annoying and switch your TV after a certain amount of time with no warning, secondly these settings DIM the picture immensely, make sure you switch them all off.

BONUS HDR: OK so this TV may not be the BEST but I shall be HONEST by having the free HDR upgrade its worth every penny, the HDR upgrade is downloaded via a FREE firmware upgrade, this is a BONUS and Amazon & Netflix Detects that you are using a HDR-enabled set, however you must make sure HDR is turned on in settings and make sure you select HDR 4:4:4 otherwise Amazon HDR starts complaining it may have to downscale if you choose to watch a HDR film or TV series, HDR settings are found in the ADVANCED settings of the TV.

AMBILIGHT: STUNNING and its amazing, show-off your Ambilight TV by showing your friends or family one the truly amazing ambilight Videos on you-tube and prepare to be amazed.

ANDROID SMART TV : BE WARNED if you do not have the fastest internet connection you are in for quite a wait as soon as this TV is connected to a network, for me, out of the box and connecting an Ethernet cable the TV, the Android Software Update took 35 Minutes, sadly you cannot do anything apart from WAIT and look at a little robot on the screen & if you cancel you shall have to start all-over again, I cancelled so had to wait just over 1 hour before I could even start enjoying the TV.

Overall for the money its a truly amazing buy, yes its as some negatives, the menu system is quite annoying, and it takes some time to discover the BEST setting, and Android takes time to upgrade, but all in all, for the price the negatives are worth living with and I would recommend it.

Bought one of these yesterday and I'm chuffed to bits with it. Picture looks fab and I love the ambilight feature.

​they dont make their own panels they buy in cheap crap. build quality is poor. but they make them look good. mutton dressed as lamb. their bulbs too are overpriced for what you get unless your buying car headlights. look into lifx if you want phillips hue. same thing for 33% cheaper

I tried 3 all were the same. I'm sorry but if you think they are good quality you are clueless. Not trying to cause an argument honestly but how anyone can say they are good picture is crazy. They don't produce blacks they just show awful smudged grey, the settings out the box are unbelievably bad, they suffer from bad banding, and very bad light bleed and pressure marks, the colors are just dodgy, the picture isn't very crisp.. I can't imagine how bad these issues are on the 55 one.. If you like it then that's fine. The one I looked at in a different store had these issues.... 4 people I know who also bought one had these issues so I'm pretty sure they are all the same. Just blows my mind when people give bad products good reviews haha. One of my mates actually thought the TV was OK.... I went round and he was using the default settings.... That right there proves to me how clueless some people are haha.

Iv got a 1080p ambilight, 49" screen picture quality ain't the best but the ambilight feature is great although it can't be linked to any Philips Hue products which is ashame

I really dislike the Philips TV I have now, I've never been able to find a set up I'm happy with. This one however doesn't seem too bad for the money, I'm tempted as it's about time I get myself a smart TV with higher resolution. Anybody know what the refresh rate is like in person, any jagged movements?

Strange. Pretty sure sure they review even budget tvs sometimes.

If these are anything like the previous Philips 4k TVs they will be terrible. Seen as though these have a lot more features for just a little more I would stay well away

had an lcd version of this before, ambilight is fantastic and really improved viewing experience.

Though mine isn't 4k, I bought my Philips on a prime day deal this time last year. Once the picture was set up properly I'd day it's the best led/lcd picture I've owned, over Panasonic and Samsung. Good bang for the buck if that's what you're after.
