Bought this earlier on, was perusing their flash sale page but their site kept crapping out, so eventually they released all deals simultaneously.
I think this is (was) a pretty great deal--probably represented their best value discount. For ages been eyeing the Onkyo TXRZ800, but looking at the difference overall I think this was better value for money.
I would advise to anyone who missed the price to contact Richer Sounds detailing the offer and let hem know you experienced issues with the site/downtime.. it was throwing cache errors et al for a long time. Their customer service is usually impeccable and I think if you say that and ask for the original price relatively quickly you'll be golden.

Yeah guess so. They may even throw I'm 5 year guarantee lol. Doubt it...

At least it has enough power for a THX rating, but 11.5 Kg doesn't seem very heavy for such power.

Hmm, this was my only minor concern actually. The other amp I mentioned is a fair amount heavier. Then again it does pack a few more features which would require more components and also a much bigger chassis which would definitely a fair bit..
Then again, the spec of this is so similar.. the DAC is the same, it supports hi-res audio, as you pointed out THX Select 2 Plus (which is pretty outrageous), discrete high-power amplification. Given I have the warranty I'm pretty comfortable if it means the capacitors are a little less hard-wearing. I think in terms of continuous power it'll be pretty good!

I reckon just say you saw the deal and intended to buy the unit for £399 + £39.90 for 6 year guarantee but due to issues with the site intermittently while trying to purchase you weren't able to in time (and/or that you had some other commitment that meant you were delayed before 7, had to do something else and couldn't get online again until after 7).
It may be a slight exaggeration but ultimately it's still in stock and I can't see why they wouldn't just give the benefit of the doubt given they had quite big issues earlier.

Is it really worth all that effort for an unknown brand AV amplifier.

Why buy an unknown brand like this when you can get a Sony for £20 more if you look around online?
