I actually went to the store today and surprise, surprise... the phone wasn't there. I assumed the phone was provided via the store stock, bit not the case. Wasted my time travelling to the store for no reason. I spoked with VF customer services and they had no idea why I received this email to say the phone was ready. I will need to chase them up again on Monday to find out the latest, but I think I'm going to try and get my delivery address changed to my home address to save me the trip and further disappointment.

Good phone for the price especially for the young ones.
- Collected from store & got them to cancel the pre-activated bundle 30 days and they reinstated £10 pay as you go credits through online chat. Wondering what their expiry on credits?
- Unlocked via ebay for £1.20 within 20 minutes or so (link already given here)
- Upgraded to Marshmallow, Unlocked bootloader, log, etc.
- Now playing with so-called with Adopted Storage

That's interesting, maybe you had a lot of apps/browser tabs open in the background? I use this Moto E for Pokemon Go, WhatsApp, and browsing. Generally high usage as well as it being rooted with things running in the background and I don't run into any sluggishness/lag at all, quite surprised as I never expected this phone to be as good as it is.
Shame the screen protectors for the phone are pants though.

Yes, not really interested in custom rom. I did it to root it, to install Xposed Framework/Modules, etc. Also bit of an habit I guess, lol
If you install Xposed modules, you should get modules like GravityBox to give options to restart, etc,

Using one of these. Works as well as any protector I've used
Did you unlock bootloader without installing custom rom and why do it?
Anyone know how to get the phone to restart rather than shutdown?

I too got mine in that batch, and none of the eBay code sellers could get a code, which is why I said some XT1524 models

TBH the 1st gen runs pretty smoothly too, there's barely any difference performance wise (other than 4G) between the E1 and E2. And annoyingly they've removed the notification LED on the E2.

don't cancel just wait for the email to say its instore to collect. i hope its there. if its not. don't even bother talking to the staff, as they will tell you its an online order. just complain via letter to the complaints team including your evidence. it will be a whole lot quicker! you must also tell them what you want, either to cancel the order or the actual phone. i wanted the phone so thats what i requested
good luck!

You sure you have the 2nd gen? not the first runs fine also you can use your sd memory card has default instead of the internal memory if you have marshmallow on it.

Yes, I can confirm that buying from website with home delivery caused much less issues except waiting time for me, ordered several times from Vodafone in the last six months

I think the key is not to have it delivered to store. I had a similar problem and it seems like the supply channel from warehouse to store is massively flawed. Buy it from the website and have it delivered, and it's much more reliable. Vodafone are cowboys but they have some good offers on PAYG phones from time to time

dear all,
i bought this a month ago when it was posted here for £35. do not buy off the website. it took me a month! yes a month to get it! arrived this week. buying from website is straight forward. i chose to deliver to a store near my work. i had emails saying it was delivered and ready for pick up, but the store had not seen or have any record of it. i had numerous conversations with their live support which yielded nothing. phoning call centre..nothing, just promises. in the end i complained via letter, yes letter! no email, and finally they sent me the phone. if you can get this phone in store then do so. you will save yourself a whole load of head ache.

I'm going abroad a couple of times in the summer, so will definitely use the SIM for it 500Mb of data roaming. Unfortunately, it appears that the £10 Big Value Bundle is now oos.

Cex only pay £29 cash for the phone if it's locked to Vodafone. You are quoting the unlocked price.

Game offers £38, and if you have both a CeX and a Game store in your town, you can get CeX to beat Game's price providing that you bring in proof (usually a printed quote on a receipt).

Can I ask what apps because I never had such issues with my E2.

With it's quad-core Snapdragon processor I found the Moto-E pretty good - it could certainly run the iPlayer App just fine (which many of the really budget Androids cannot keep up with)
With Marshmallow it should be possible to fold a fast micro-SD card seamlessly into the phones's 8Gb!

I have no lag or sluggishness with mine.

COLD - NOT A SMART ULTRA 6! LOL
Just a word of warning on this though - I'm a huge fan of budget smartphones (my main phone is a moto g), but I couldn't stand the lag on my moto e.
I only installed a couple of apps, nothing heavy - but just simple web browsing often ground to a halt for a few seconds. My experience with 8gb androids has always been similar.
So whilst it's a great price, I would only recommend to those who can put up with a sluggish phone.
