Having been a Sunpat crunchy fan for as long as I can remember I am now converted. The Meridian Crunchy is gorgeous. Put a spoonful on a lettuce leaf - mmmm!

Although I agree about ditching the sugar, I would also recommend ditching anything 0% fat / fat free. Natural fats are good for you and along with anything else in natural foods, they are an excellent edition to a balanced diet.

Ditch the sugar, add a good spoonful of Total 0% fat Greek Yogurt - I also add a spoonful of cold-pressed linseeds - and you have a wonderful smoothie for a great breakfast!

Thanks OP, I stock up whenever this is on offer. Far and away the best PB available. I think Sunpat is repulsive and hate Whole Earth for offering their product either with or without palm oil. If it CAN be made without, why still sell it with palm oil??

I normally prefer crunchy PB but Meridian's new Peanut and Coconut Butter is really nice stirred into Madagascan Vanilla ice cream... indulgence and not a healthy dessert. The crunchy one is great for krispie cakes, melt a spoonful gently with white chocolate and stir in cornflakes or rice krispies, dollop into cupcake cases and leave in a cool place to set.

I do have the smoothie for breakfast every work day, the other ideas are strictly occasional treats...!

I've had tried Tesco finest version, hated it. Prefer Sunpat, but I have like 2-3 tubs of Sunpat ones left, dont wanna waste money :innocent:

I've never tried this but at this price I'll give it a go. Though it looks like they roast the nuts with the skin on and then blend that which I personally think gives it a very burnt flavour.

I agree with the recommendation for the peanut butter from bulk powders or the protein works http://www.theproteinworks.com/peanut-butter. They are 100% peanuts and taste oh so nice! I can even have it on its own :smiley:

Only ever buy Sunpat smooth. I tried Tesco own brand once and threw it away. As others on this site have said this Meridian is good, I will look for it this week to give it a try.

Thanks, tasty and one of the very few that does not contain sugar or palm oil. Whole earth is Sustainable Palm Oil but still tastes greasy and upsets my gut.

So do eat it that way I and I buy the Meridian Organic version by the Kilo bucket,Its the only brand I buy.
Also great on toast with a smear of Ginger preserve on top.

Just the peanut butter reduced unfortunately, it's showing online now. Shame they didn't reduce the almond or cashew butter but i'll grab a few jars of the PB for sure, £3.57 a kilo is a great deal.

Blend the following

- Generous tablespoon of this stuff
- 2 ripe banas
- 400ml Milk
- Sugar to taste (optional)

= Amazing healthy milkshake

Sunpat has stabilisers and sugar in there and also mixes peanuts with peanut oil. Process hell for a product that should have one ingredient only.

Once you go 100% peanut, you do not go back.

As an alternative I have been very happy with the peanut butter (and cashew butter, although more expensive) from Bulkpowders. Less than £5 for a kilo. Plus, they have 25%/30% discounts almost every week (30% right now). Postage is about £4, though, I believe, if you order under £50 (I always order more).

Try both. Only you can decide.

Personally I think so, but most people prefer the pure peanut stuff.

One thing for me in favour of the unhealthy stuff with oil and sugars, is that I like to eat peanut butter by the spoonful sometimes (don't judge pls) - the pure peanut stuff like Meridian is really bad for this.

Thanks OP, my local Tesco Extra was clearing out the 1kg tub's for £2.74 the other day so worth checking the sports/health food section if they have one (not in the normal preserves aisle).

Sunpat has a sugar free one which has a darker roast on the peanuts and is less oily, but not at this price! (darker=tastier)

I tried the smooth one by mistake a few weeks ago and it's terrible compared to the crunchy one. Too runny and I couldn't really tell what I was eating.

Never tried it TBH, I rarely eat peanut butter due to the calorie content but like the odd dollop in a smoothy so will buy a jar for that purpose :smiley:
