Just tried fitting mine to my hyundai santa fe and the santa fe cross bars are too wide so I need to get a set of aftermarket bars too, bum!

Agreed that the instructions say they are optional, but description from eurocarparts state they are included as well as eyelets for fixing, which I am also yet to locate.

Just had a message from eurocarparts, apparently I am too far away from one of their stores for them to deliver (only 9 miles away and i'm not exactly in the middle of nowhere) so only options were to cancel order or collect from nearest store myself.

Careful with so called universal roof bars, we bought some for a renault scenic, the pretty much wrecked the roof bolts as the fitting was very slightly too big, so they went in fine (needed a bit of elbow grease) and came out fine, but left the sockets unusable afterwards.

Yes roof bars are required, the roof box comes with u brackets, not unlike 95% of the other roof boxes on the market.
Amazon have a range of universal roofbars for around £40, you can select your car model and they tell you which bars are compatible. For example we have the Maypole RB1045 Aluminium Aero Roof Bar.
