I paid £50 for my recent one (super slim) from Cash Generator. It is in immaculate condition. The PS3 still supports a lot of streaming services and with the Blu Ray player it is still a must have console.

Before my ps3 died I did play cod modern warfare 2 online. I kept being shot through walls, and in the replays you could see they had some kind of aimbot. Is this cheating online common in the older games?

I'm not worried about it being EOL, I have a PS4. I just want it to play some extra titles and maybe a few of the ps+ games I'm technically already paying for

Yeah the controllers are very sturdy (much better than the PS4 ones).
I still use a sixaxis from my PS3 40gb not so fat but still fat model (2007). That machine died ages ago.
My 320gb slim is still going though (the bluray drive has long since bit the dust though).
My other ps3 (super slim) has no problems but is a fairly nasty machine (build wise).

Which model was it? The third iteration "Super Slim" is kinda cheapo, but the chunkier slim version that came out after the original is pretty sturdy.

I found the ps3 controllers were almost bullet proof. The consoles however not so. I had a first generation version that had the yellow light of death was repaired under warranty and died again. At the time the insurance company said their repairer could not keep up, and even the courier guessed what it was when he saw the box size. Then got a slim which seemed to be very flimsy, and the dvd mechanism failed after a year.
I'd like to play the old games :disappointed: Shame I can't download them!

The PS3 is basically EOL, only way you're going to get a reasonable price now is to look around on Gumtree or whatever. I paid £65 for a ~160GB Slim with 2 controllers, The Last of Us, and some other games that I traded in for £10.
