Think like many people I look at the summer holidays as a double edged sword, on one hand, I love the kids being off (well at least for the first 10 days) but I'm always in a quandary what to do with them, everything is so expensive, even a cinema trip these days needs a few gold teeth ripped out & sent to cash4gold! Back in my day I was happy with a bag of chips in newspaper so I could read it whilst I ate & a stick to whack around aimlessly, but I'm told by my kids that's why I've ended up chubby with inky & splinter filled fingers, they want more out of life it seems. Anyway since I'm waffling, I've put together a few offers / ideas / deals & freebies for the summer hols, hope they help & feel free to add any you know of!

It's too late for summer but if you live in Bradford area and need something to entertain the kids during the holidays there are still paces available at police camp for October . Cannot recommend this strongly enough . Mine loved it https://policecamps.bradfordcollege.ac.uk/

Well now, we always threatened our son with the Northampton Shoe museum, since to a 13 year old boy it sounded truely horrific, but one day we were at a loose end and I said come on let's do it, and we did - and it was way more fun than it sounds. If you find yourself in N'ton, with an hour to spare, go see shoes. Try on the flippers lol

Great list thanks. Here's a couple you can add The Red Lodge Museum Bristol.
Edit: Another one I found out about last year is the Botanic Garden in Bristol. It's £4.50 for adults and children under 16 are free.
Great effort...heat added....
If anyone is on holiday in the Weymouth area of Dorset, then a great free place to visit is Portland sculpture park...see if the kids can find the dinosaur head, or the bear!

Excellent post! :sunglasses:
Really limited scope, but for those that live in Thurrock and Havering, visitng RSPB Rainham Marshes is a nice afternoon out for free.
We've been today and had a nice walk round looking at the wildlife (butterflies, spiders, birds, cows, various plant-life), play in the small play area and some tea/cakes at the restaurant.
As we leave, we do always throw some money into the donations box but that's completely optional if you want.
Not sure if other RSPB places are the same for local residents but it might be worth checking.
Appreciate the great effort, heat added :sunglasses:

There has been TV adverts for it and lots of radio coverage.
I'd be surprised if your eldest hasn't had an assembly about it too!
But it is a great programme and we'll worth it for the things they learn but might not realise they learn, also the confidence boost will be good if they need it too.
Great thread thanks op, as far as I'm aware Dudley museum has closed down?

Candlelight nights every Wednesday evening lower gardens ( my children used to love this). Or pop along to Poole for Friday nights themed car event, Tuesday dream machine motorcycle event or Thursday evenings summer breeze on the quay with street entertainment, music, family activities and Firework display..

And how much are earnaway getting for these bookings? Owned by the same parent company as quidco and hotukdeals aren't they? Sounds a bit fishy them being promoted on here so heavily.
EarnAway
20 Jul 161#76
I'm all for transparency. We're losing money. Trying to create good deals for HUKD members to acquire members for EarnAway. Quidco's parent company has an investment in us. hotukdeals has none.

The problem is, some HotUKDeals Moderators are posting your deals on here. Whilst that doesn't prove anything untoward is taking place, it looks a bit suspicious.
I commend you for trying to take on the big companies like Trivago, if you can shake up that market, good for you. Quidco did a great job shaking up the cashback market but things have changed, they've become as bad as the businesses they tried to replace in my opinion but then that's what happens when you put your business in the control of the guy who set up Friends Reunited who's main interest seems to be increasing its value as much as he can then scarper.
supermann
20 Jul 16#82
And as you're for transparency; is the following user aamir34 working for you? He's spamming your deals on here and also on some other websites.
He also introduces himself as though he does work for you, for example on the link below although I know this may not necessarily be the case as he may just be repeating a marketing email or something.
I can honestly tell you I have no idea who aamir34 is. The copy on the post looks like it's copied and pasted from the landing page. I do appreciate his work though, I won't lie
As we have marketing budget to acquire users, we put together these kind of deals so 1. It benefits us as we get new users, 2. It benefits HUKD as there are deals that are hopefully useful to the community. Happy to discuss more directly if you want (email is [email protected]) - but I don't want to muddy the splendid comments here and all the good work that wishihadadonkey has done.

I really think the Russians are missing a trick here, why don't they reopen the gulags for the summer holidays every year. Our kids could be sent off to be educated in hardship and socialist values and we could have peace and quiet for 6 weeks. The crime rate would drop, what's not to like ?

Last but not least, not sure which kids like to go to museums in this day n age as a holiday fun.

I'd be surprised if your eldest hasn't had an assembly about it too!
But it is a great programme and we'll worth it for the things they learn but might not realise they learn, also the confidence boost will be good if they need it too.

feel free
Although in my younger days no one could get me out of a museum in a hurry, nowadays it's impossible to get my kids anywhere within a mile radius of any museum let alone a carpet museum :smirk:

I commend you for trying to take on the big companies like Trivago, if you can shake up that market, good for you. Quidco did a great job shaking up the cashback market but things have changed, they've become as bad as the businesses they tried to replace in my opinion but then that's what happens when you put your business in the control of the guy who set up Friends Reunited who's main interest seems to be increasing its value as much as he can then scarper.
He also introduces himself as though he does work for you, for example on the link below although I know this may not necessarily be the case as he may just be repeating a marketing email or something.

Thanks for sharing though
Very interested as we're in Southampton but often go to Bournemouth. Thanks
Hope that helps.
