Look for the £37 each way fares. Fare is actually £2 + Taxes and Fees. £5 surcharge for Credit cards / Paypal.
Flight includes food and drinks but not luggage and the planes used on this route have good legroom and wide seats. Luggage fares are £15 each way extra. But for the hand baggage fares, you are allowed a 23kg bag and a laptop/handbag.
Availability starts in late September but good availability in October / November / January onwards.

Good deal.
what always worries me on BA flights is knowing just how heavy the hand luggage in the overhead lockers could be,ie 23kgs/bag,makes Thompson's 5kg really light weight limit!

I thought for a moment you were wrong but checked and BA's policy is indeed up to 23kg so long as you can lift it and get it in the overhead locker! On this route though, the lockers are pretty narrow so I would not rely on full-size hand luggage getting on board. That said, even if they check it into the hold, they can surely not then charge you for that privilege?

Your always better off booking hotel as well through BA as you get discount and the added bonus of hold luggage included if you going away longer than few days, still the best airline as always free food no matter how short the journey but Norwegian Air is challenging that with the service they provide.

its not free tho is it, your paying for it via higher fares. Norwegian also charge for all their extras

Of course the fair is higher than flights alone your getting hotel as we'll so what do you expect? It to be cheaper? when you book a hotel as well? Or free? Example, flights to Barcelona are around £50 each way with only hand Your text hereluggage, add a hotel and price is around £120/130 and you get hold luggage aswell and hotel for 2 nights for about £30, to me that's a good deal. Jeez some people expect everything free. And all airlines charge for extras so that's my point if you book Hotel also the luggage is added as free.

generally BA have less leg room than other airlines and if anything goes wrong customer service barely exists - so it's interesting that this route is supposed to be better. To my family BA is better avoid - or something else I wont put on a family website.

Not something I really feel – I've flown BA many many times and always had a great experience! Plenty of leg room on short and long haul too!

But surely if you are shopping for cheap European flights short-haul then your alternatives are EasyJet or RyanAir so a cheap BA deal is much more attractive than them no matter what your specific opinions are of BA...

... as for "if anything goes wrong..." BA are one of the better airlines. Sure, they've had their 'melt-down' moments (e.g. when T5 opened), but for one-off issues, they will look after you, re-book you, put you up in a hotel etc.
There's something about flying that makes people irrational, upset and angry. I came through Heathrow this morning and the number of people complaining about the electronic passport gates (approx 6 out of maybe 12 or 15 were open) was bizarre. It took 3 or 4 minutes from getting to the back of the queue to getting through the barrier, yet grumpy middle aged men were either complaining out loud to no-one, or collaring the minimum wage purple-jacket-wearing Heathrow assistant, demanding to know why the hell all the gates weren't open, using words like "UNBELIEVABLE!", "HOPELESS!", "TUT!". get a grip people!

I fly this route a fair bit as LCY is by far the best airport for me, but I must say those little planes (Embraer 190s) bump around a fair bit up there. Still, BA is hands-down the best airline and LCY a great airport and Madrid a fantastic destination (other than July/August - too hot!)

they was doing loads of £35 flights the other week all over europe, so worth checking other destinations.

+ your allowed a 2nd 'laptop' bag upto 5kg & if your into winter sports, you can check your snowboard instead of a hold luggage - EasyJet charge £60 eachway! 51kg of luggage :o)
How can BA justify charging a £5 fee on a £37 fare (13%)?. Another example of rip of credit card charges.
Rant over, still a good price.

One question I would add is why were all the electronic gates not open? It only takes one passport bod to look after them all. That is the reason they were installed in the first place!

i know the difference. just to lazy to stretch to use the finger needed for ' key.
most of the typing with my left hand is done by 1st 2 fingers. thumb on space & little finger for backspace.
To use the ' key, I have to use my 4th finger. So being lazy :P

I often used to fly BA to Istanbul as my family worked/lived there,so I had a large soft rucksack stuffed with pork sausages/bacon etc which weighed at least 20kgs,But I now realise it was never queried due to this 23kg limit,I also paid for a extra hold bag approx £30 which now will cost me £65 if I need an extra one.

Yes I see your point. Tutting is a terrible habit and the "grumpy middle aged men" do it all over the place (why ARE they so grumpy..!?!").
That said...
A frickingg chimp could run Heathrow better than currently. Why indeed aren't all the machines working? Why are there 5 people processing half of Asia in the mornings?
The situation is appalling and there's no one to blame (you're right about the purple jackets folk - it's not their fault). Take it or leave it. Worse though in USA and Australia.
Solution? £5 express passport fee to pay for more staff in a fast track. Good idea?
(Personally I think it sucks. Like speedy boarding or the queue-jumping surcharge at Thorpe Park; yuk)
