Just beware you can't text 5 digit numbers with Life Mobile - probably not a big issue for many, but worth knowing.

Give them a call, I can't see them knocking you back if you are a customer, they should be able to move you onto this deal? Let us know how you get on!

Just for info. I did a speedtest.net on my Life mobile account
17mpbs download
3.37mpbs upload.
In west London.
Hope this helps

Good to know, did a comparison in the office with a girl on virgin uses the same network as these, she was getting 9Mb on 3G, my giffgaff 4g got 2.7!! On the plus side I had upload of 17Mb which I really need.

Speeds are usually pretty good with Life Mobile, I was with them for three months or so. Struggled for a voice signal where I live though so ended up changing. Life Mobile never managed to enable tethering for me which was a shame.

I went for the 3gb unlimited texts and 3000 minutes for £10 few months ago. I wasn't sure with life mobile. But everything works perfect good customer service and Internet is way faster than the crappy speeds I was getting with giffgaff. I would recommend this network to anyone

I'm currently with EE. I mentioned this Virgin offer as well as the LIFE Mobile offer to them.
For £9.99pm EE offered as 12 month sim-only upgrade:
Unlimited Minutes
Unlimited SMS
2GB of Data (Superfast double speed 4G)
Use of allowance in Europe
EE PROS:
1. Unlimited Minutes
2. 4G data (double speed)
EE CONS:
1. 12 month contract
2. Need to pay £3pm extra for 300 08 numbers
VIRGIN PROS:
1. 2500 Minutes to 08 numbers
2. 30 day rolling contract
3. Good further discounts negotiable
VIRGIN CONS:
1. Allowance not usable in Europe
2. No 4G data
3. Not unlimited minutes (but plenty)
My main gripe with EE is that I pay £3pm extra for the 300 08 numbers. They were not willing to do anything to offset that so I took my PAC code.
Any suggestions?

EE, Life Mobile is also owned by EE.

What I can't understand is why one company will run 2 companies with different charges for what the most of us want, a good signal, good download data and a super customer service at the lowest workable price.
It's the same with BT, their other company Plusnet is far superior to their own branded service so why don't they just sell Plusnet.

26 Jul 16#38
Is there a fair usage or do you actually get the full 3gb of data? I ask this as at the moment I'm with Virgin but moving, reason being as I'm meant to get 5gb of data a month but as soon as I hit 2.5gb I'm throttled. So much so I can't even open emails. My speed goes from 12meg all the way down to 0.30meg!
Bunglistik
26 Jul 161#39
You will get your full allowance, but then you'll be charged over and above that, don't forget to add a usage cap (by calling them up once your sim has arrived) so you don;t get any nasty unexpected bills.

Life, who are a subsidiary of EE, use EE's 3G network.
Their customer services are fantastic, they're based up north somewhere (judging by the accents of the CS staff I've spoken to) and actually help you, rather than sticking religiously to a script and getting utterly confused if your problem/request isn't on said script.
A little fantastic CS anecdote: I rang them yesterday to ask if I could get the extra 500mb of data they're now offering for £5.95 per month and initially they said no, about 5 mins later the guy I spoke to rang me back and said he'd been told they could do it and he sorted it out for me. Very polite, very easy to deal with.

26 Jul 16#41
EE offer 4G, Life don't. Also, EE's plans go further up the usage and price scale than Life's do.
I think Life are meant to be a sort of budget arm of EE. Great if you want a cheap plan, not so great if you want a high usage, 4G plan.
It's a bit like how the Volkswagen Group offer VW, Skoda, Seat and Audi cars all based on the same platform, but with different brand specific bits.

A big plus for me is that Life will deal by email. Nice and easy, and no possibility for misunderstandings later.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, however I'll ask anyway. Do you get charged 40p per video message i.e face time when using presumably their data and not wifi https://lifemobile.co.uk/Info/Tariffs
Thanks
matt101101
26 Jul 16#44
No, that'll be for videos sent via MMS. FaceTime (and all other such services) just use normal data, whether that's mobile data or Wi-Fi.

Virgin are known for offering good discounts a month in with them. I tried it on with them after a week of signing up with them and I got my then line rental knocked down from £12pm to £8pm. Then after a few months I pushed them again and they dropped it to £6pm. If they had 4G, I would stick with them all day long and for many many days more!

Outstanding customer service from LIFE, and that's echoed by other members here. It's actually a pleasure to deal with them on the phone as they normally answer quickly and they want to help you. The best service from any network I've ever been on.

We'll they sent me a letter last month to say they're removing my discount so on rang to cancel. I shopped around and found nothing better as she had unlimited minuted and 1gb for £7 a month. So I rang them back and managed to get £5 off their £15 tariff so happy days. Especially when the kids turn on her mobile network and make her go over her 1gb limit the new 5gb should really help.

27 Jul 16#57
Whilst there are people willing to blow £60+ per month to get their hands on the latest phones on what is, basically, an expensive finance agreement, the networks have plenty of wiggle room when it comes to the price of SIM Only plans where there's no £500+ handset cost to cover.

Great deal, heat added. Just got my sim in 24 hours, but be aware that it might not get activated for up to 48 hours, which is annoying as I timed my switch from another provider a bit too close.
I've spoken to customer services, they say it can be sooner, but an automated process (they can't activate it manually), so I'm currently locked out.
On the sim-card wallet info: "We delay activation of your SIM to ensure that it remains secure during postage. It'll be activated shortly after 12.00pm two days after the date of your dispatch confirmation email."
