Excellent camera in and outdoor's. If mine hadn"t packed in I would have kept it for another couple of years.

I don't remember, I got it from virgin just after launch. Fortunately lg accepted it back for repair even though was a month outside of my warranty.

I got £325 back for the G4 and paid £375 for the G5 on Amazon. They had put the price up to £414 even before mine was delivered.

That's a bummer - my repair took only about 5 working days so you shouldn't have to wait too long. Is 510 the new serial number since it was fixed or the old one? Mine got boot loop in March & they replaced the board, serial number was 506 but it's now 602.
I think this phone is great, in fact it's got everything I would want in a phone except for the fact that it's manufactured poorly. I'm hoping that my repaired phone doesn't end up with the same problem. Everything seems fine, but then again it seemed fine before until it suddenly wasn't.
With the amount of people who have had the same issue I'd say it's just a matter of time before the bootloop issue happens if you have one of the G4's with an early manufacturing date.

I had 2 brown leather ones at Christmas and had to return both to ebuyer for overheating problems, needless to say i got a refund and got a SGS6 edge and no such problems.

Rubbish, laggy, slow, badly made plasticky junk phone with shocking battery life, after moderate use I had to charge it twice a day. Also the Wi-Fi connection is very poor.
I sat on mine and completely destroyed it last week. Gone back to my G2, prefer everything about it tbh (other than screen and camera maybe).
I wouldn't have another G4 for 150 quid.
This price isn't much good either, I got mine, unlocked, for considerably less last November.

Does anyone know of a phone that works (i.e. talking) in landscape mode?
I have a short face so need the mic and speaker close together, but I still like a big screen.
Thanks. Xxx

I can't say I agree to that, there's lot of lag (or maybe you are using a custom ROM?), battery life definitely less than a day etc
But it does have a removable battery and sdcard slot

I second this.
however, I find my G2 screen at least as good or better.
I put them side by side and cannot see any advantage using a trillion pixels on the G4 screen

I bought two 508's that haven't yet experienced the bootloop. They are still under warranty and the owners have been warned to watch out for them overheating, although this is unlikely in this uk weather :stuck_out_tongue:
I must admit, i don't understand the warnings about backing them up? If you set up an android mobile correctly, everything should back up, contacts, photos? Why the concern?

Had mine 6 months now. Colour issues with black now developing. Blacks now looking washed out dark grey these days. Warranty return on the cards. Not happy.

It was launched in the UK in May 2015. You need to get your facts rights before you put them in print as the G4 owners will have you for breakfast. It came out in April but we didn't get it until May.

And 509 as 509's were made in September and they didn't issue the instruction to retailers not to sell them until the 29th September. Chances are some 509s have potential issues too. Mines a 506 or was it it failed after 7 months with light use. Brilliant service by lg and it now has a 602 main board.
If anyone of you buy this from ebuyer and it has a 509 or older detail number (first three numbers of serial number) then send it back.

Unless it's in a strong case I don't know how you could expect any modern phone to survive being sat on! Maybe one of those old brick Nokia ones would be fine but any modern large screen phone is probably going to crack.
Surprised that a few people have mentioned poor battery life as I find it excellent, usually still nearly 3/4 full at the end of the day compared to my Nexus 5 that was always on the last 25% by the end of the day. Guess it depends on usage but unless you are extremely demanding or run it on high brightness I don't see how it could disappoint in that regard....

The screen on the G2 is not 'at least as good or better' - either your eyes or your judgement are impaired. The battery on the G2 is better but my G4 lasts more than 1 day in most cases unless it's been used excessively - it's currently on 57% battery with almost 3 hours screen on time after taking it off charge 8 & half hours ago. Although the battery was better, my wife's G2 was laggy as hell, the camera & screen weren't great. Obviously, it's just one person's experience versus another's but thought would point it out as you might just have had a bad phone. Saying all that, I'm not sure £250 for a G4 is a great deal.

Been extremely happy with mine even with the motherboard failure and would buy another LG for sure. Had Samsung's for the last 5 years but the LG compares well at a lesser price. Some people need to take more care with their phones as they are easily broken.

There have also been 510 with issues, but like I said above unless ebuyer have old stock then its redundant discussion anyway, and if your in the slightest bit sceptical you should stay away altogether.
Information changes anyway so its up to anyone thinking about buying a product to explore these things for themselves before they buy.

Great phone but the bootloader issue has just struck my sons 9 month old g4 and it is awaiting collection by lg. Something to do with the motherboard I was told. My son hadn't backed up his data and thought he'd lost everything. He read a forum tip to put in in the freezer and it worked! Gave him just enough time to access his data and contacts. Be warned

I've had this phone since November last year. No better than the Samsung S4 it replaced in my opinion. Awful battery life on both version of Android it has had. A few times I have considered digging out the old S4 and then selling the G4 on.

Interesting. I had the S4 also which my wife now has. I find the G4 much superior to the S4. It has a better camera. Not knocking the S4 camera, it's good. G4 is just better and a whole lot faster. I find 3G is better on the same Virgin network. However, I am talking about my G4 with it's newer 602 motherboard. Before that it was laggy especially when exiting apps and quite often I would see the error message, I am sorry home has stopped or I am sorry camera has stopped. No such issues with the new motherboard and it's like a different phone. What serial number has your phone got. The phone gets hot if worked hard but 5 months on with the new motherboard I have no complaints and I won't be swapping it back for my S4.

Yeah I saw that about some 510's. I seen some people saying later models have failed too but I guess those of us who have had theirs replaced already will just have to wait and see. I have a 602 now and its been ok for now but last week I was using maps and it got really hot to such a point I turned it off. I guess second hand values will suffer with the G4, certainly with older serial numbers. Its worth a buy though if it's cheap enough. A lot have failed before the manufacturers 12 months warranty and if you really want to express your rights you could use EU law and our Consumer Rights Act to get LG to repair it after 12 months. They have admitted a problem publicly with earlier models and only time will tell if they put it right or not.

I'm one of many people who have abandoned trying to get my G4 to charge wirelessly. After a few weeks of wireless charging without any problems there seems to be some sort of hardware problem that "burns out" something and renders wireless charging completely ineffective - leave it on the wireless charger at night and by the morning the battery will be empty. Check out XDA forums for details.
Great phone apart from that

Has anybody else experienced strange battery behaviour after about six months? My battery was fine, but I took it to Bulgaria with me (came back on the 28th) and my 100% charged battery was discharging by about 1% every 2 minutes so within 2 hours it was dead. I do have an original spare battery in the pretty white charging box but I didn't think I'd need that. Lucky I brought along an Asus Zenfone Max which was a steal at £97 and has a 5000mah battery - it saved my holiday in that respect. My phone seems better now that I'm back in the UK. I have a Spiegen case and I'm wondering if the rubber material used is a bit of a heat trap. In my car, I charge the phone using an Anker 12v cigarette plug and an Anker premium quality cable and it gets very hot while I'm doing so.
Thanks very much, OP. My old phone broke two days ago and just got replaced under insurance. I was just thinking "if only a good LG G4 deal would pop up again on HUKD, I'll sell the untouched refurb on eBay and have one of those" and look what turns up! As my contract on my old phone ends in three months, hopefully the G4 will see me well into a nice, cheap SIM-only period. Marvellous.

Because when my phone came back from LG it had a different serial number and a different IMEI number. It was still the same phone. The first three number of the serial number are the clue when the board was made. 506 is June 2015, 507 is July and so on. The 5 in the number denotes the year (2015) and the second two number are the month. Mine now has a 602 so it was made in February this year.

This battery looks really good. I'm wary of third party batteries but I don't want a 7500mah battery with an ugly bump sticking out the back.
