gaming monitor 5ms... I'm sure it's a great monitor for editing photos but sorry not for gaming

That's a pretty ridiculous statement majority of people won't notice the difference, between 5ms and lower response time. You may be confusing this with input lag not response time.

I actually have one and to be honest it's perfect (for me) I did have a 2ms LG model before and I notice no difference myself. I wouldn't go back now. In fact i think I'm addicted to 21:9 ratios too  It's a bit of a beast, even though initially wanted at least a 2560x1440 model.

Clearly has no idea what they're talking about.
Enjoy your TN panel in ignorance.

This same comment gets banded every time an IPS monitor is posted. I think 4ms is about the peak for VA and top end IPS panels. Sure that 1ms response that 'gaming' monitors claim sounds great, but there is no standardised means of measuring, so that obscure grey to grey rating they manage to get from their monitor doesn't guarantee better real world results.
I've got a 4ms VA panel and a 3ms TN panel and the VA panel is monumentally better than the TN panel for it's lack of ghosting.
This monitor is just fine for gaming unless you care convinced you are so 1337 that you need that imperceptible grey to grey response time rather than overall contrast and colour quality.

There's nothing wrong with 5ms, I don't know why people keep bringing this up!

this isn't about input lag. it's what people call ghosting when you kind of see a shadow when an image moves quickly. most can't notice it if it's under 8ms

£237.78 delivered on Amazon. Amazon will likely also be more accommodating when it comes to stuck pixels than "infamous" Ebuyer.

agree, plus for photo editing also not ideal. large IPS display , possibly with 16:10 screen ratio and/or 2k resolution. This screen is for gaming and possibly video/music editing only.

I was interested in an ultrawide but realised many apps and games arent compatible with them.

I've just picked up the smaller 25" version (25UM58), I think if I'd have gone for anything bigger I would want a curved one.
I'm using mine for remote working, I have an alienware alpha which only has one hdmi out and I'm use to working with duel monitors in the office, I'm finding the super wide a great alternative to this, having sublime and developer console on one half of the screen and a browser on the other.
I've tested a couple of games, CS:GO has no problem with the resolution, neither did worms armageddon surprisingly (I love this game), Super Meat Boy showed a black screen at this resolution annoyingly, it would only work in standard 1920x1080 which was stretched, however another game I tried (forgot what it was) which was also 1920x1080 didn't stretch but displayed black bars to the sides preserving the 16:9 ratio but I'm not sure how this is decided, if I find time I'll check some others games.
Oh and the advertised PiP and splitscreen stuff is pretty much bullcrud, I had assumed (you know what they say about those) this would work with multiple inputs, but it's just software for arranging open programs on your PC.
So far though, I'm loving the superwide.
Oh, and don't believe the photoshopped image of the monitor, the black border around the panel is 7mm wider all the way round.

I like ultrawide monitors in theory however when I saw one in Currys in person I was shocked how weird it looked for the advertised size. It was like somebody had taken two 14" monitors and stuck them together, really wide but squashed at the same time.
Personally I'd get a 34" minimum but more than anything I'd recommend you go see one in person if you can because expectations for this type of monitor more than others might be completely different to reality.

I've got the 34" version of this. After 1 week there's just no going back!! Ultra wide is the future.

I've just been looking at that, do you reccomend it? I currently have a dual 24inch setup but I'm really after a single monitor now. What's the bezel like?

It would appear that it's only 75Hz refresh rate, I'd not consider that a gaming monitor, personally, after upgrading to a 24" G-sync 144Hz monitor (dare I state the theoretical 1ms GTG time? It's an interesting aspect ratio, certainly

G sync or freesync would make it better.

I didn't check the full specs, thanks for the heads up BigYoSpeck. I see the Freesync range is quite narrow, at DP 40~75Hz. Good to have it though. Maybe lowbacca could add this to the main description.

Picture quality is excellent. Although the the physical bezels are only a few millimeters, there is a 1 centimeter black bar around the top & sides when you turn the monitor on so the pictures are a bit misleading. The version I have is the 34" version, which comes with FreeSync @ 2560 x 1080 (not 4k) When you go to 3440 x 1440 prices start to get extremely expensive! & you need a top end Graphics Card. I use it with a MSI GTX970 4G & everything runs just fine. Price to performance this was the best I could find.

Hiya,
I paid £359.00 a few weeks back (From Amazon) I don't think you can get any cheaper & with Amazon they will let you return it 'hassle free' if you're not totally happy with it so they are always my preferred seller. Good luck & let me know what you think of it.
