Heat added, I only use malawarebytes (premium lifetime) which can be be picked up on eBay for around £15 now. Antivirus is getting ridiculous now especially for gamers.
Anybody used windows defender on Windows 10? It keeps saying you need to update it! In 2016 it should be updating itself.

Windows Defender and Common Sense will save you a lot of money, it's a waste paying for antivirus in my opinion. Want to run some random .exe? run it in a VM!
As for Windows Defender not updating, if you have installed other Antivirus /Malware protection those often disable Windows Defender & the update service.

Not the one you displayed, you didn't. It's a well known license from the keygen by cracking group EMBRACED. Look at the last 8 letters from the key, always a tell tale sign it's a pirated key.

If the license still works it can be upgraded.
A note of caution though, I know for a fact Kaspersky discontinued the 2013 licenses in Feb this year so I'm not even sure a 2011/2012 license will still work. 1 review in 2 1/2 years doesn't really give you confidence either.

This is cheap, but why would you pay anything at all these day? Use AVG or Avast. Plus run Malware Anti Bytes regularly (free version), us Ccleaner plus keep defender on. That's plenty to keep you safe.

No what will save you a lot of money is not going sites you shouldn't, not downloaded pirated software. You can run Windows without AntiVirus easily.
Choose your Favorite browser and install, Ghostery, NoScript, Adblock. And as many mentioned here Antimaleware Bytes if you so wish.

For Win10, O&O Shut up 10 (really!) can allow you to toggle defender back on again if another AV has not re-enabled it on uninstall...
Also as I understand it Barclays customers can get a free copy of Kaspersky.
