Is anyone knowledgeable able to comment on the comparison between this and the Toshiba and Sandisk which have been available at about this price. If indeed there is much difference.

The Toshiba ones are pretty slow - they are based on the same tech as the OCZ [i think Toshiba bought OCZ]
They are cheap but not very fast. That said Im struggling to find benchmarks on these as they are new but I have used Integral memory for a fe years at work and it has been good... UK company was the final straw for me - i have ordered one

I was bored by this deal, I wish someone would making a fcking really exciting SSD deal. Come on some one step to to the plate. Otherwise I'm going to have to do it and you don't want that.

I can't find any reviews on this SSD... and the price seems suspiciously low for its size and claimed performance (even outside of the deal). I have heard of Integral, but only in regards to general flash storage such as MicroSD and SD cards. I didn't know they entered the SSD market. Maybe it's too recent to have gotten a review yet, but I wish a trusted site like Anandtech had something to say about it.

Seems it has a Phison S10 controller and TLC NAND. The controller is reviewed here
Think I read this controller goes some way to remedy the weaknesses of TLC. Read figures are fine, but I'd like to see the sustained and random write figures all the same ...

good find sir... reads good for a cheap drive... mine should be here Wed so ill run some tests and report back. My Sandisk piece of crap writes at < 70Mb / sec right now so i cant wait to bin that piece of crap....

Don't bin, donate, my new best friend ZaGaZ sir. You look handsome today.
I have mixed Brand use with the SSDs I've had. Crucial, Samsung and Sandisk. The Sandisk one was cheap. I think it was one I got off a deal on here. But that was the first drive I've had fail so far.

What's the difference between this and say a Samsung 250gb ssd for the same price. I'm currently deciding what parts to purchase for my first ever pc build
Thanks

I doubt you will get a samsung for the same price :-)
This would be fine for your first build however i think they are out of stock now...

That's a shame. Which Sandisk SSD is that?
We use Integral storage a lot at work, but I don't know Integral's P Series, so will be interested what Write speed it gives.

Sorry I meant a 250gb Samsung was almost the same price as the integral 480gb. Literally a couple of pounds in it. Guess it's irrelevant now though

We just purchased a 240Gb one at work for a laptop and the benchmark is pretty impressive:

6 Jul 16#33
Pretty good but I wonder if it'll stand the test of time.
I've grabbed one of these for my sister's laptop, it might not be the fastest or longest lasting SSD available, but I'm sure it'll be more than fast enough for "normal" computer stuff vs a mechanical HDD and I'm sure at the rate an average user (like my sister) reads/writes from/to their main drive it'll last many, many years.
If it turns out to be crap, I'll report back.

11 Jul 16#45
So far I'm very impressed with this SSD, if a 960GB version turns up at a good price I'd be more than willing to install some of those in my own systems.
Whilst I was initially setting up my sister's new laptop I had to use the HDD it came with, I'd forgotten how awful mechanical drives make otherwise decent computers feel to use...

11 Jul 16#46
I too am very impressed.
My four year old laptop used to take 75+ seconds to start up and now it takes 8 seconds from switching on to being on a webpage.
Every single thing is instant and it has completely rejuvenated my computer.
I am waiting for it to come back into stock to buy for my other half.

If you have Amazon Prime (or sign up for a free 30 day trial on either your account or a new one), I'd be surprised if there aren't some SSD deals as part of the "Amazon Prime Day" thing tomorrow.
If you don't fancy thats, MyMemory's "Notify Me" thing works flawlessly via text and email, that's how I knew these had come back into stock last time.

Was it that model of SSD, or just your specific unit? The only experience I have with SanDisk SSDs is the 120GB SanDisk Extreme I've had since 2012, which has been absolutely faultless in the nearly 15,000 hours it's been running for.
ZaGaZ
12 Jul 16#53
It was a SanDisk pulse - just under 3 years old and the write speeds were so low... but they have agreed to RMA it and give me a SanDisk ultra instead :sunglasses:
The speed stats are in this thread....

12 Jul 16#54
Well you can't really argue with their CS at least. I've never heard of the Pulse, was it a low end drive?
ZaGaZ
12 Jul 16#55
true... there was only 2 days left on the 3 year warranty too... that said 60mb write is terrible... I won't buy sandisk again....
