Having just had a complete nightmare with Humax direct I cannot recommend them.
I ordered the YouView box refurb, it wouldn't connect to the Internet from day one (I'm very technical and know what I'm doing). It took 7 days of tech calls before they decided it needed to go back. No replacement available, despite them still selling the same model refurbed - apparently that's a separate stock pile. It got collected 14 days ago and I'm still awaiting a refund on my card. Shocking service.

Unfortunately I have also had a bad experience with Humax Direct. Bought a refurb box 2 months ago. Had faults straight away. Customer support were useless. Finally they have agreed for item to be replaced but only because box is barely working. However, I have decided to get a refund. Can't bear the thought of having to deal with them again should the replacement box perform just as badly. It is a shame because I bought another refurb box about 5 years ago and had no probs at all. If customer support was good, I wouldn't mind taking the risk, but getting a response from them is like getting blood out of a stone.

Very impressive price for this. Rare to see a decent Freesat PVR at this kind of price. Heated.

Bought a refurb Humax from this outlet 3+ years ago and it has been faultless.
Used to think Humax were a bit overhyped, but the UI is so well thought through and it just works well.
Hot and recommended.

I've been after a decent pvr for ages but could never justify the expense. However with this price tag it's a no-brainer.
Can you guys recommend a decent internal aerial that would pick up HD channels ? I can't be bothered with drilling and stuff.

This is a Freesat box - you will need a satellite dish not an internal aerial (that would be Freeview........)

Just realized ! They better cancel my order quickly.

Fellow purchasers, I ordered/received this box the other week, very happy with it..............however - how do you get the standby to work? I've had a play with power-save settings etc, but if the unit has been left in what I assume is stand-by state (red light on front) and I use the remote to power it up (to green)....nothing. The only success I have is when I turn it off/on from the mains and then use the remote to power it up.
Figured I would ask here before I contact Humax.

Like one of those Sky ones or anything that picks up Astra/ Hotbird satellite.
I rushed to order but now emailed them to cancel it. It ain't freeview (which would pick up hd channels from normal aerial) and there is no hard drive installed so very basic box.

I've bought 4 refurb units over the years and never had an ounce of trouble. One is now 8 years hold and still going strong.

Humax boxes are usually very good but with my two, the remote control is not so good.
Also with refurbs/recons in electronics, I think they check them and sometimes miss the faults which they were returned for, so you can end up with a faulty one.
But great price - pity only one connection; with this smart class box you would expect two. Heat added.

I have this box and am very happy with it. Recording to an external drive is just the same as on the more expensive pvrs from humax . You can't use USB sticks for recording though has to be a drive for some reason. great price. I also purchased refurbished from them but I have never had an issue so not had to deal with returns.

For those that need a Freeview box rather than Freesat, I'd highly recommend picking one of the BT-branded Humax YouView boxes ("DTR-T2100" 500Gb) off eBay - can be had for around ~£50-£60. Really pleased with mine.

the worst customer services ever. my box arrived with previous owners freetime profile still installed and lasted one day. They took over 10 days to refund me dispite having picked up their box the next day. awful. but if you want freesat or freeview ltd choices other than humax

Agree with above negative comments about Humax customer service. Once ordered a Humax refurb Freeview PVR and the HDMI wouldn't work with my Sony TV. Turns out to be a moderately well known issue where each manufacturer blames the other (Sony HDMI is perfect on all other devices). Humax CS were deeply reluctant to send a 2nd box to try so I gave up for a refund and never found out if that model can work with my Sony. Pity as my very first SD PVR was a Humax and was great to begin with, till Freeview frequency rejigging by the broadcasters plus god awful software updates from Humax destroyed that box.

Why would Humax send out a 2nd box for what is likely to be a compatibility problem with the Sony TV? I assume you had no other TV that you could have tried to connect the Humax to?

Mine powers on from red light to green just using the green circle to turn on and vice versa. Have you tried pressing STB then green circle, not being sarcastic.
jeczap to lugsy3
3 Sep 16#42
After it's been idle for a couple of hours and the light is red, I click on STB, then the top right power button, the red light goes out but the unit doesn't power up.
If I turn it off from the mains and do the same sequence, the rest light goes out and green comes on.
