Is it worth roughly £100 more for the full P9?

Idk but this has a less powerful cpu and gpu and this doesn't have the dual rear facing camera's. So it can't take native black and white photos or do the cool blurred background effect thing. Apparantly this camera isn't bad though and the cpu and gpu is still a step up from the snapdragon 617 (like in so many midrange phones). The build on this has less metal but it apparantly still feels good.

Probably.
Twice the storage.
Much better processor
Better camera system
Better screen (marginally) with according to most reviews gorilla glass 4
Fast charging (when you buy the right adapter)
Better wifi
Gyro
Likely faster Nougat update

the title needs amending as you need to purchase a goodybag with the phone not unless you already have one and are using giffgaff, the cheapest one is £10

The P8 is way better than that, it was £150 at some point as I remember.

15 Jul 16#8
When you put it like that I guess the extra is justified ha. P9 for me then I think
all reviews say p9 doesn't have fast charging, USB type-c connector is no guarantee of fast charge.

People on the XDA-developers forum say that a Huawei 9V/2A fast charger works fine, better than the P9's own charger - something like this (used with a UK 3-pin adaptor).

I based it on reviews that said the p8 mate fast charger worked. Though I can't find uk version now I've looked for one.
same 9v/2a charger works fine on my moto g3 and does charge faster, but it's still not 'fast charge' as in 60-80% charge of battery in minutes rather than hours

Possibly, that's why I used the word "better" to imply that's what it is over the standard charger.

All good points but my P8 hasn't even got Marshmallow yet and my gf's Honor 7 has, I'm not sure what their updating strategy is but I'm not sure their flagships get the best treatment like other OEMs.
does this phone accept 256GB micro sim for Google Play Music offline listening?
thanks

Download the hicare app from Google play and request the update. I have been running it for over a month without issue.

There's another good deal around but depends on either the user of the phone being a low data user or needing a plan with low data for a someone in your family.
Buy it from three for £21.50 a month first 6 months then £43 per month with 30gig internet with 30gig of tethering and 12gig per month internet abroad. Internet is 4g sometimes dips to 3g

not long before the recently announced honor 8 should be available, pretty much all the specs of the p9 and expected at the £250/£300 point (dependant on value of the £) might be a better option? http://www.androidauthority.com/honor-8-announced-702806/

Is P9 better than Xiaomi Redmi 3 3GB RAM 32GB ROM 16MP CAMERA £147?
I got P9 a couple of weeks ago direct from three. £50 quidco, £11 for 6 months, £22 for 18 months, £99 upfront. Considering I was paying £10 month on giffgaff, phone works out at £271 for me. I like it a lot, very nice camera, good battery life, charging speed is fine. Just make sure you get a screen protector and rear camera protector.

Upgraded from an LG G2. Fingerprint scanner is very good and installed Nova Launcher.

I purchased one of these in gold last week. It's an awesome phone for the price. Well built, great screen and camera, no lag at all and no app issues. And yes the screen has scratch resistant glass and oleophobic coating too. Very very good phone no issues at all
P9 lite is much quicker, has a decent camera and rapid finger print scanner.BUT!You can have the Nexus 5X now for only £129 which an awesome deal for a stock android device. As far as I know the Android 7.0 will have a big improvement for the issues the Nexus 5x is facing now.Still there is no dubt i would go for the huwei p9 lite or the new honor 8 coming to UK next month.BUT at the carphone warehouse the deal for £129 with an o2 sim upgrade on pay as you go is unbeatable. There is no such a different between those two to pay the extra hundred quid.

Note that there is a P9 & P9 Lite - 2 separate versions. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (the model I'm assuming you're referring to - also see 2nd & 3rd links below) is definitely better than the P9 Lite in most respects.
Whichever one you refer to, the Xiaomi cannot be beaten for sheer value - but, if anything goes wrong, one is likely to get much better & local support/warranty with a UK-based retailer/Huawei. And the Huaweis support all UK 4G bands.
The 3 above compared specs-wise here to see what feature each one has or may be missing.
The 3 similarly-named Xiaomi 'Redmi 3' models compared here
Edit: The £147 Xiaomi model you refer to, was actually just £122 a few weeks ago at AliExpress - so, if you choose it, definitely worth the wait to get it at that insane price again.

Yes, of course, with a Huawei P9 you get 2 years warranty (vs no warranty with the Xiaomi), all 4G bands working, Gorilla Glass (the Xiamomi doesn't have Gorilla glass!), a chamce for Quick Charge, a much much better camera etc.
On a Xiaomi you will get a Chinese ROM tbat you need to fiddle with to replace and some spyware that may or not be eliminated if you have the time to instal different ROMs
It's time people face the truth, getting a phone from AliExpress 30 pounds cheaper is not worth it in the long run

The phone is overheating from boxing out, wifi is very slow and by the camera it gets very hot,the phone is very very very slow. You would expect more from a nexus!I tried the p9 lite:decent display, nice fp scanner and nice thin style, the new update is close to the Google stock, nice looking op!Expendable storage, battery is over average!Wish could be a bit cheaper around £160!The new honor 8 will come soon, but not confirmed that yet which is also a decent handset!
What I would say avoid nexus 5x,worst phone from LG!
If you can your hands on p9 lite for a nice price get it!Still I think a bit overpriced by £200!
Also I think a nice try and look for the p8(bot lite) if you can grab one for the price of p9lite!

This is not a deal when one considers it was available on Vodafone PAYG for just £150 a few weeks ago:
Vodafone will probably charge £20 to unlock it, but unlock codes on eBay can be had for just £5-6 (or even lower sometimes: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231527383277
