Wouldn't recommend one plus 3 just sent one back.. It took them weeks to send it and then had nothing but hassle trying to sort out why it kept going on silent for no apparent reason... Great shame really wanted one plus to work out but after suffering other problems with one plus x have finally given up on them!

try to stick it in a bag of rice, you don't want the water to evaporate and then just condense again inside the phone, they may be able to tell that it has been opened especially if the guys don't know what they are doing. I cracked the screen on my old HTC One and no-one would touch it. they are all used to iPhones..

I've had this phone for a couple of months and it's now buggered after dropping it in water. Took it to two phone repair shops who wouldn't touch it as they didn't have the tools to open it up. I'm currently in the process of spending a week trying to dry it in the heat of the sun and an airing cupboard. Prior to dropping it, the phone was also constantly unmounting my sd card so I was constantly restarting to rectify this. I have found a shop who will take it apart for £10 to have a look. If the water indicator hasnt been set off then I will send it off to htc. They charge £27 to send it back to you if your not wanting to go ahead with the repair
Should have gone for a waterproof s7.

Is fairly flimsy plastic, at least on my S4, seems to be using the same polycarbonate material, will take a hit if dropped and save the actual phone which is the key really and easily replaceable.
I'm finding mine just a little slippy at times, just wish it had a little bit of texture on the back or sides to make it a little more grippy, might get the neo hybrid later on, dont know how robust the bumper is on it though.

Finally got around to powering mine up last night, thought the display was knackered as I couldnt see anything on it other than at a very very specific angle. After I guess the initial boot/setup it seemed to spring into life and have had no issues since, multiple reboots to confirm. Case, Spigen Slim Armor, seems good, not as robust as my otterbox but seems good.

23 Aug 161#146
No issues with it the slim armor so far, it's a nice case, solid and feels quite nice but does add a little to the dimension of the phone.
I have issues with the cheapo ice view case I got from flea bay tho the flash is reflecting off the rear cut out and creating a lot of noise in my piccys, I think it's down to the cut out not having enough clearance around the flash, so needs a wee modification with Mr Stanley :smiley: I should've just got another Spigen :smirk: and may still, quality.

Had this phone for a couple of days now, it's pretty great.
Only niggles for me are:
-DPI is high which gets on my nerves - might try to tweak it via ADB.
-the notification LED is green/yellow/red only - didn't realise how attached I was to the multicoloured one in my G4. It also blinks really fast rather than flashes slowly.
-It's a USB Type-C connector so none of my MicroUSB cables work anymore
-Whenever you play any audio or video (even muted), a notification for "BoomSound" appears which can't be cancelled. If you're scrolling through Facebook it'll appear and disappear as you go past videos.
The case (mentioned in my post above) looks good, it fits snugly and it almost feels like an old tough Nokia phone with it on... I've not tried NFC or Android Pay with the case on yet though - hopefully it works through the case. I'd be surprised if it didn't.

I got the Spigen Slim Armor air cushion case, the gold one to go with the phone colour, feels really robust, it has a little kick stand so you can sit it at an viewing angle - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-CUSHION-Cushioned-Corners-Protective/dp/B01DAN2S76/ref=sr_1_19?s=telephone&ie=UTF8&qid=1471613588&sr=1-19&keywords=htc+10+case
I also got the Spigen Crystal LCD screen protectors (pack of three) and they are superb, very easy to fit and any bubbles smoothed away nicely. I also got a clear ultra thin gel cover (this also includes a screen protector) which I really like, it lets you see the phone without the bulk and it feels nice and grippy, I've put links below to let folks see them.
Might not be to everyones taste but there's tons of stuff out there and lots of reviews on you tube for most of them.

I've bought this, dispatched yesterday afternoon and it's currently in my "national hub"...
Looks like a good all-rounder phone to me, last HTC phone was the HTC Desire (which had terribly low memory for apps). Had a Galaxy S2, then an LG G2 and for the last year, a LG G4 (until it died on Monday).
Bought a Spigen [Rugged Armor] case to go with it... which may arrive before the phone does at this rate!

I believe the camera is a lot better now since the last update, I just got mine last week direct from HTC so has been updated, I had the M7 and loved it, this is much better, loads of settings in Pro mode to play around with, no overheating issues on mine and the best thing is the adoptable storage but to utilise this you have to use a fast (U3) micro sd card, I used a Sandisk Extreme Plus 128 GB (about £50 from Amazon) with this converted to internal storage no need to worry about running out of storage anytime soon, dont think you'd be disappointed.

I agree mate in fact all Samsung are missing is the software which is poor having said that it seems improved on Note 7. Looks much lighter and flat which should help it perform better.
My almost ideal phone would be Note 7 with HTC UI and speakers. ow yes
It's a shame there won't be any decent custom Roms for Note 7 or a way for porting HTC UI as that would be fantastic.

HTC 10 is a huge improvement over HTC M9 especially in the camera dept. As for playing games yes it does perform better, overall it's one of the best high end phones. It's not perfect but it's one of the best.

AceRimmer15
13 Aug 16#123
I always had Galaxies also until I got my HTC one M8 two years ago, I love it. I think the perfect phone this year would be a mixture of the S7 and HTC 10 tbh. Samsungs screen, camera and water/dust proofing on the HTC 10. As it stands, it's a tough choice, but I prefer the HTC 10 and I'm not sure I could live with the speakers on the S7...
nav157
13 Aug 16#122
After owning both S7 edge and Htc 10 I much preferred HTC 10, s7 definitely has the better camera but it also has the worse ui. HTC 10 looks and feels premium phone my only one criticism if only the screen size was 5.5 min. Perhaps HTC had struck a deal with google to make the 5.5 phone for them.

The sticker around the phone itself was wonky and when I took it off there was a bit of dust and some smears on the screen. And the shrink wrap on the power plug was broken. I checked out a bunch of unboxings online and didn't spot this on theirs.
I also found it weird that there's a couple of unused void stickers in the manual box, but spotted this in other unboxings

11 Aug 161#115
what makes you think it is a refurb?
AceRimmer15
11 Aug 16#114
O2 and Vodaphone don't have them in store as both carriers have decided not to carry the HTC 10. Very strange indeed given how well received the handset has been. I'm leaving O2 and buying this sim free. Unless I find a good price on an S7 Edge or something.

I love HTC phones, have the HTC M8.
In the market for the S7 or 10 and went round the high street yesterday, unfortunatly Three, O2, Vodafone and EE do not have the 10 in stores to show. Three actually said all the HTC phones have been recalled back to head office, so it sounds like a possible contractual issue?
Something is not right which is a real shame.. Great phone.

I rang them today, They wouldn't even humor me with a deal on a phone I don't even really want (the S7) Wouldn't even waiver the handset price. I may have considered staying and taking that handset if they made it worth while. I pointed out that mobiles.co.uk were much cheaper for the exact same contract, she said there's nothing she can do and I'm about the tenth person to tell her this morning I'm finally leaving them. Not sure what they are playing at? They used to reward customer loyalty. Oh well...

I've just done exactly the same, been with o2/BT Cellnet for over 20 years but just bought this & signed up for the ee deal. Spoke to o2 this morning & they can't get near. Best they could offer was 25gb for £25 but I'd never get near that usage!
AceRimmer15
3 Aug 16#98
I may have to buy this seeing as O2 have bizarrely chosen not to offer this handset. I've been with them well over a decade, but this decision along with their unwillingness to budge on their expensive prices in recent years has alienated me. I shall buy a handset and find a good sim free deal. I wouldn't mind the £31.50 offer on this through mobiles.co.uk, but I don't want to be tied in to another 24 month contract.

Nexus usually gets released a week or so before the iPhone so probably first week or September.
This is a great price and I was tempted but I think it's worth waiting for the nexus and see how that compares.
Also, HTCs distance selling regs seem to indicate you can't return this for a refund if you've opened it???
Or am I totally way off the mark and have misunderstood this?
In any case the Google customer services is way better so wait until end August for the nexus price plus spec to be announced

Hero - Desire - Desire S - Sensation - One X - M7 - M8
Didn't go for the M9 as the M8 has been such a good phone. The only issue with any of the phones was a very slight problem with the Sensation screen which was fixed in warranty, the phone was back within 3 days. No problem at all.
Was going to try to make the M8 last another year but I dropped it in the sink on Tuesday, getting that fixed under insurance and ordered the 10 last night. This deal came at the right time for me.

29 Jul 16#64
It depends on what you want and what works for you. IMHO anybody who spends this kind of money on an Android phone is crazy. Unless you buy Nexus you have absolutely zero guarantee of long-term (i.e. > 1 year) device support and updates.
My first Android phone was Samsung and it was a less popular model. It cost me £300 and Samsung dropped support for it within months of launch. For that reason I now have a £200 limit on the new phones that I buy. It just isn't worth spending more than that IMHO.

No. Many of the problems mentioned have been resolved with a software update.
The problem with purchasing a phone when it first comes out is that there will be teething issues. This is why I would always wait a few months before buying one. Let other people do that and take the hit. Demand at the start is high which would also explain the long delivery times. I think 3 weeks is an exception. My colleague ordered one 2 weeks ago and it arrived in three days.
I think the oneplus 3 will be my next phone.

I take your general point whirlwind but the complaints on the forums are from people who have had the phone prior to any updates. Most of the people on the forums will have had problems so you might be getting a skewed impression. The majority will have had a good experience and will have no need to go on the forums.
Sorry to hear you have had problems. Hope you get them sorted. That is a definite downside to buying from oneplus - no store yo can walk into. In fairness to Apple that is one thing they excel at. Had an iPhone 6 before my moto play with a cracked screen and they replaced it straight away. Just a pity they are way overpriced.

29 Jul 16#53
Fair enough, no to say you didn't have genuine problems with the OP3, there's nearly always problems with new phones and the software when released no matter what brand. Wiping the cache of the phone has helped many with problems after new updates. Not picking at you here but a lot of people moan and groan about every little thing they think is wrong with a phone and most times it's either a quick and easy fix or simply down to user error. I've always been involved in the forums for all my phones and have to say that I've seen far less problems with the OP3 than others I've owned.

There have been problems with sound, alert slider, WiFi and Bluetooth and for them to do an update to fix all of those will be a miracle. Mine had a problem with the sound and when they did an update it made the alert slider not work. Read the forums and you will see what I mean. It was a relief to get rid of it!

People who moan about warranty repairs on here and blame it on the manufacturer make me laugh - HTC, Samsung, Sony etc all farm out their repairs to authorised repair centres like Regenersis, so it's not the manufacturer's fault if they are slow, and changing manufacturers or holding a grudge against one particular manufacturer over a slow or badly-done repair is daft, since you could have had just as bad an experience with another manufacturer.

I'd like to agree with you but if you look at the forums they're having issues with all of their phones. I really wanted the op3 to be a success but Imo op phones are just too unreliable. It all seems like a good idea but is not worth the frustration when it doesn't function properly.

Same here, but I've been looking to get the HTC 10 or the Oneplus 3...but unfortunately Vodafone don't do the HTC 10 (and I get 20% off my upgrades with them!)
I was going for the Oneplus 3 (cracking piece of kit for the money), but this price drop is swinging me back to HTC.

Great all round phone.
Just one issue is the camera. Having upgraded from the HTC One M7, i have to admit I preferred the speed of focus and auto brightness adjustment on the M7 over this phone. Other than that cant fault the HTC 10, I found it easier to use the the S7 but the S7 camera is significantly better, in fact i'd go as far as saying the best camera on the market.
Which will be much more expensive so not really relevant to this thread at all !!

Brilliant phone highly recommended. Looks fantastic and hardly any bloat ware unlike Samsung or lg. My favourite ui after stock. Camera has come leaps and bound still not as good as Samsung but still good enough. Speakers nice and loud. To compare this too op3 is an insult yes it is more expensive but you certainly get more for your buck.
Better camera, looks, design, ui, speakers, support, warranty.

I always had HTC until last year. Far too many HTC apps to update, it got worse and worse, that wasn't including all the Google apps etc.
Bought the Nexus 6P Google phone, best move I ever made. Still get Google updates but that's all. I still have a soft spot for HTC but all those unnecessary updates wore me down.

the reason why htc have a lot of apps to update is because they decided to put them on the play store and update them that way instead of sending out firmware updates, i personally prefer it that way as if there is a bug with an update they are pretty quick to release another update to fix the issue. if it was left to firmware ota updates you will most probably be waiting a long time
also on the htc 10 they have removed any duplicate apps and just left the google ones on there so this should be less of a problem with this phone

Motorola do the same. I think it's great. That way you get regular direct app updates, instead of relying on a firmware update.

This gets good reviews, with £100 off it's a pretty good deal. I was looking at the Oneplus 3 but various forums mention small annoying problems. The oneplus 3 going silent is something to with one of the slide controls, it also disables the volume. The next nexus phone is expected to be based on the HTC10.

worth keeping an eye on Amazon warehouse, I've had an m7 m8, sony z3 z5, samsung galaxy 6 and 7 edge. All were stated as damaged slightly and the price reflected this however all have arrived absolutely mint. So much so that they were moved on for a nice profit. I know it's pot luck but you always have the chance to send back for free within 30 days if not happy. I often wait until they are running a 20% off warehouse deals like they did for the recent prime day. They seem to update the stock around 11pm - 1am.
I did once have a problem with an m7 that I kept, it simply wouldn't accept the updates and was branded as Vodafone. I contacted HTC who advised that this was car phone warehouse stock and to take it up with them. I asked Amazon to explain why they had sold me a phone from another retailer and they just offered a full refund - this was about 14 months after purchase so hats off to them.
I'm using an ulefone power at the min and whilst the battery is great the camera is incredibly poor, I want to go back to HTC

I upgraded to the HTC 10 from the ONE M7. brilliant phone. Really. Recently put the battery to the test whilst travelling on holiday with an overnight stop over to visit family. Battery lasted 2 days. A proper 48 hours with moderate use (taking lots of photos, internet usage, maps & navigation, E-mail etc) and still had 22% battery life left when I plugged it in to charge and that was only using battery optimising, not extreme power saving. Really impressive as far as I'm concerned, and on my birthday, my wife gave me a decent set of studio monitor headphones which make the music sound amazing from the high quality DAC within the HTC 10.
Like someone already said, they have really streamlined the amount of apps that bloat your limited storage. If Google provide the app, that's what you get. If not, try HTC or another 3rd party app.

Had (in fact wife still has the 3 year m7), and must say, was the best phone I ever had. By far the best, most natural screen ever-only let down by a mediocre camera in dark light. And funny enough, now have an Oneplus x now too which is just work-but worth every penny.

I think HTC are trying to shift them!
Spigen Crystal SP's - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-LCD-Film-Crystal-H09FL20271/dp/B01DXS28VE/ref=pd_sim_107_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7T17Z2GQ8TFYKCGXYP5N

Might not be to everyones taste but there's tons of stuff out there and lots of reviews on you tube for most of them.
My case was supposed to arrive today but Royal Mail have returned it to Amazon due the address being incomplete or incorrect - I've used this same address for years though so that's annoying
Hi adnan1002, this is the card I purchased, no probs bud.
My almost ideal phone would be Note 7 with HTC UI and speakers. ow yes
It's a shame there won't be any decent custom Roms for Note 7 or a way for porting HTC UI as that would be fantastic.
http://shop.ee.co.uk/mobile-phones/pay-monthly/htc-10-carbon-grey/details
I also found it weird that there's a couple of unused void stickers in the manual box, but spotted this in other unboxings

Never had a problem with them personally, the phone was in my hand, safe and sound within about 12 hours of receiving the dispatched mail.
I've done it for the last 4/5 years and saved a fortune!
At least on firmware 1.80.401.1
I can see where it mentions unsealed software cannot be returned but section 1.5 states
If you are a consumer and exercise the above right to cancel, you must take reasonable care of any Product(s) in your possession and (at your cost), within 14 calendar days of giving the cancellation notice, either: return them to us (or elsewhere if requested by us) or make them available to be collected (as requested by us).
This is a great price and I was tempted but I think it's worth waiting for the nexus and see how that compares.
Also, HTCs distance selling regs seem to indicate you can't return this for a refund if you've opened it???

If only the HTC was waterproof..... That is such a fantastic feature for me.
That's the point I was trying to make.
I suppose it's a case of getting what you pay for, as with most things in this world.
M8 is still going strong after its Marshmallow update WAY before Samsung and Sony got theirs.
HTC are brilliant for android upgrades usually covering 2 years. Perhaps your problem should be with Samsung and not android in general?
Heat!
Happy days, can't wait!
There really is no reason to get this over the Oneplus 3.
I wish £300+ was budget priced for me X(_;)
My first Android phone was Samsung and it was a less popular model. It cost me £300 and Samsung dropped support for it within months of launch. For that reason I now have a £200 limit on the new phones that I buy. It just isn't worth spending more than that IMHO.
My pt was that Note 7 is coming which may be the reason for price drop (it is rumored to be st 660 GBP approx.)
Your logic is wonky
as long as I know you won't loose warranty if unlock a one plus, what about HTC?
don't get me wrong I like both but still, it costs 33% more
heat added anyway
I think they were like £60, in 2011.
