Warranty wise not as good deal as RicherSounds one with 6 years., but 5 years JL warranty is good enough I think.

There is plenty of stock to get it delivered immediately unlike RicherSounds who are not getting stock for at least 2 weeks + their 3-5 days delivery time.

Only 95p more than RS's price...!!

Just like Samsung and LG broke the monopoly of the established brands like Sony, Panasonic, Philips etc. 10 years ago with their aggressive pricing, Hisense is doing the same today. You're getting high quality, great specs and decent performance for a bargain price. Do not confuse Hisense with other budget brands. They are in a different league and truly believe that they are going to be the LG and Samsung of tomorrow.

Hey guys for those people who have this TV, does it upscale everything? also are you using the "dynamic" setting? The setting makes everything more vivid however as I am used to the older tv which was also 4K sometimes I think it's showing too much colour. If I use standard will I still get HDR?

has anyone got a definitive answer on the differences between the 65k5510 and the 65m5500 as I've just placed an order for the 5500 now from richer sounds and wondering if I've gone for the right one out of the two of them. thanks in advance.

Not at all but brands have heritage and track record. if you bought a sony tv 20 years ago and it worked up to the day you gave it away, you liked the picture quality etc etc its does give you perspective when looking at replacements TV.

I would also read the reviews. MY last purchase I compared 3 models all virtually same size from same brand and then made decision on reviews

No reviews on JL website which again doesnt make it a standout product.

Similarly, I exchanged a £2900 Samsung 65" KS9000 for the far better value Hisense at John Lewis. I was alarmed to discover iPlayer doesn't work yet on the Samsung and that watching Football and Tennis on a Curve screen shows Straight lines as Bent. Very Annoying...!! John Lewis were gggggreat, no fuss exchange with Free delivery and pick up, warranty is for 5 years with Labour, Parts and Free Collection/Delivery or Home-Service

9 Jul 16 #203
It's called brand awareness

Biggest doesn't mean best though does it?

If a new car brand come on the market would everyone rush to buy one? Probably the next up in terms of purchase price from a tv for most people when talking about a large single item purchase

A lot of people only shop in lidl / aldi and rave about them

I've tried both a number of times and yes they are cheaper but does the food taste better than the uk supermarkets

Imho they don't

Thats really sad, especially when Hisense are the 3rd largest TV manufacturer in the world and will definitely make a better panel whn compared to sony or panasonic in the same price range.

this picture doesnt belong to me. lol. but interesting question. I put the tv on the opposite of the bay window which had a huge radiator. so I have 3 x 3 seater sofas in this room. I've been told by everyone that the TV will have a very short life being over the radiator. so I got a plumber in and removed the radiator. then put 2 column radiators. one on each side of the bay window. made the room look very modern too for an old victorian house.

it's a real shame tho because the image quality is really a step above, can't see it failing once the content is there, not as if there's any real contest. only thing to watch is for Dolby hdr or hdr 10 as not many manufacturers are willing to pay Dolby for the licenses.

also there's another one for the YouTube codec but I've not done much looking into that side of it as I just stick to Amazon and USB content

This was my point in my original comment, the confusion around what HDR is has meant nobody really knows what's gonna happen in the next few years so I wouldn't get too caught up with it. Also this tv does have a 10 bit panel so I actually expect there will be a firmware update to allow HDR through HDMI at some point but until the I'll just enjoy the fantastic image the tv produces already :-)

I'd say hdr is one of the few advancements recently that is really worth looking for, but they've really screwed up and confused people on the arrangement of it all.

just because a TV says it has hdr it doesn't mean it can display the benefits, merely process them.

best way it looking for a 10bit panel if you want to future proof, but that is me in no way calling 8 bit displays poor, so no slating me

8 Jul 16 #185
Point was, you said people should not buy HDR as there was no content, while there is.
There is HDR on Netflix. When the new Xbox is out with UHD Blu-Ray it will also support Netflix & TBH I did not buy this TV for its 'smart features'. It will play Netflix HDR from another compatible device.
carterland
8 Jul 16 #184
I'm confused, you basically said people shouldn't buy this tv as it did not have HDR, then when I said it wasn't a bug deal due to lack of content and a confusion throughout manufacturers in regards to what the actual standard is for HDR you said there was loads of content including Netflix, now you're saying you are happy to upgrade in a few years if it takes off which is exactly what I said in my original comment...I'm so confused lol

8 Jul 16 #138
I have no idea about this model but my dear old dad just bought a 40" Hisense.

He's not at all clued up on tech stuff so when he told me he was thinking of buying a new TV I told him not to buy anything without first getting me to check out online reviews. Needless to say when I next went round a new TV was in the corner of his living room. Oh well at least I managed to convince him to not buy anything made by Vestel

Anyway it seems he's made quite a good choice - which was mostly price led - £270 with 5 year warranty. The picture is pretty good after I got him to turn down the saturation and brightness and I tuned it into a Freeview HD channel. I also got it connected to his broadband through a wireless router and Iplayer seems to work perfectly. The setup was a doddle and quite a refreshing change from our own older Panasonic and Samsung sets. Sound is also reasonably good - certainly good enough for my parents needs. He's very excited that it's 4K enabled though - never mind, bless him

So all in all, if I were looking for a new telly I would certainly be having a good look at Hisense.

Really? Some years ago I had a problem with a TV. First they sent a man in a suit to confirm it was faulty (I was expecting the repair man). Then a few days later, a short time before the re-arranged time for the repair man, I got a phone call to say that he was busy could I arrange another day? When the "engineer" did arrive they had obviously sent "the lad" who sat on my living room floor for 2 hours changing the settings until the picture was unbelievably bad. I contacted Panasonic who sent out their engineer who couldn't believe just how bad the picture had been left. He fixed it. 2 wasted days off work.

8 Jul 16 #136
This is a result of 3D not being available in 4K on any TV model at present (and no plans to change that). There's not much appetite for it and the 4K "standard" hasn't really been defined as yet (HDR vs non-HDR etc).

Not sure if it's been said but...

The k5510 is a 2015 model that wasn't released in the uk, hisense have for some reason decided to release last year's series 5 and also this year's series 5 which is the m5500.

Regarding this year's m7000 models they are currently local HDR but the firmware should be out this month to extend HDR to hdmi ports.

Now coming from a k700 I know the pain from waiting for firmware updates.

Hi, I've owned this tv for about 2 weeks now - got RS to replace the original due to really bad light bleed in one of the corners. New one still has some light bleed but it's to be expected with a tv in this price range I guess.

Overall, it's great - Netflix, amazon etc all work perfectly. It's got local HDR playback though theres rumours that this will be upgraded through a firmware update later this year but that's not guaranteed. Smart features work great for me and my Iphone youtube app links with it fine

The only issue that bugs me is that in dark scenes in Netflix or via usb movies, there's an odd blurring that happens. So if someone on the screen turns their head it looks like their check gets extended and blurry. Thought this was the smooth motion so turned that off but still happens. This is on both the sets I've had so looks like a software issue.

all in all a great set and can't be beaten for value for money. Got mine for 769 from RS with the 6 year guarantee so happy with the purchase.

If anyone has questions please let me know and I'll try and help

8 Jul 16 #114
I was like this when I was looking at buying this tv after a lot of reading I decided to just take the plunge, it seems to me that manufacturers all have their own idea of HDR and whilst there does seem to be some official standard about to be introduced I still think that even the latest TVs announced will end up not matching what HDR will be in a year or 2. Most importantly than that there is barely any HDR content out there and as there doesn't seem to be a set standard I can't see there being much for a good while yet. For the everyday user HDR will be a minimal difference obviously side by side you might notice but given that the images produced by this tv (from what I've seen and read) are very very good I wouldn't get too caught up on the whole HDR thing. Maybe in 2/3 years time it will be more relevant but most people will be looking to upgrade not long after that anyways. Just my opinion

Really tempted but this would be a long term purchase and don't want it to become dated too quickly. Hmm I don't think it's fair to dismiss large TVs as chavvy these days. The average screen size has been moving steadily upwards over the years. Most people (who could afford it) used to have a separate cinema room with a projector and a smaller TV. but now with 65-inch LCD's falling under £1000 the need for projectors for movies is becoming diluted somewhat. A friend of mine - a scientist, definitely not a chav - splurged out on the 80-inch LG TV that came out last year when he got his bonus and got rid of his projector; says its the best decision he's ever made as the whole family enjoys the wide screen experience all the time, not just when they sit down for a movie.

Hisense... maybe emerging, but certainly ambitious. Main sponsor of Euro 2016 as well as UEFA competitions for the next couple of seasons.

Co-sponsors are: Adidas, Carlsberg, Coca-Cola, Continental, Hyundai-Kia, McDonald's, Orange, SOCAR and Turkish Airlines.

In terms of placement of a large TV, my view is that when you are seated, the horizontal centre line of the TV should be at (or slightly below) eyeline. Siting it above the fireplace will cause neck problems (as well as looking very odd! (IMO))

I've upgraded from 50" so not that much of a change but if someone will come from 40" or less it will find it uncomfortable - screen will fell to big for a while.

Wow Am impressed at your ability to perceive the size of the room from the image. your psychic powers are amazing

And the seated distance from the screen is actually a lot further than the Optimum Distance for a set of this size.

Seems exactly like the numerous comments re Sony software on its Android TV's - Sony isn't a cheap Chinese brand!. All makes seem to have their problems you take pot luck as it seems even the same models can vary dramatically. I have a Sony 50" full HD android set and have none of the problems that many others have and I run KODI flawlessly too. I would not hesitate to get a Hisense when I next make a purchase and would love this set if I had the space for it!

Having had a 65" Hisense K720 for 6 months recently I would advise anyone to tread carefully, they produce a great image, no question about that at all, sound quality was also superb, but despite being really good hardware it was let down by its software and non existent service from Hisense. Anyone buying a Hisense should expect features to not work properly, or at all sometimes, despite whats advertised, certainly on the K720 it was broken from the beginning, also the top end 910 set, Hisense kept false promise after false promise of firmware updates and still to this day they haven't appeared. Also motion handling on these isn't the best either.

You pays your money I guess, just be aware folks, great hardware, crap software and service.

I'll hold myself and wait for M7000 to get a bit cheaper. 55M7000 is already on it's £799.

I currently have the Hisense 43" 4K. I paid £299 from Argos and have to say the picture quality and features are up there with LG and Samsung. Well worth the money, I think Hisense will be a massive name in years to come. Just like 'Lucky Goldstar' was a cheap brand back in the day, but now lots of people wouldn't buy anything else.

1: Wires and STBs (1x Openbox Sat unit 1x Nvidia Shield 1x Network Switch) are inside the fireplace surround along with a power unit, all wires are under the floorboard direct to the fireplace (2xSat 1xTV 2xNetwork & Power)

2: Soundbar is normally in the gap under the screen (Yamaha YSP Sound Projector) at the moment waiting for a replacement, the sound from this TV is great very good for a flat screen, and the TV has a Sub output I considered dumping the soundbar and just using the TV and a Sub, but will refit the Yamaha when it gets back

3: Compromise, I started talking about Atoms and drilling the Ceiling for Speakers etc and we came to a compromise of (She could redecorate and the current surround speakers and Amp would go, but I would get larger screen and soundbar instead)

STBs & Power etc all inside here, with a remote repeater
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33717226/IMG_0218.JPG

Compromise She got to decorate and I lost my Amp and Speakers in exchange for bigger screen and soundbar

My 5 year old Panasonic 37" TV has just been written off by RS as unrepairable. It cost £560 when I bought it. They don't give a replacement at the value paid, but a set with comparable features (or better).

They're looking at offering me this as a replacement http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/hisense/40m3300/hise-40m3300.

What do you think? Take it or push for a 'known' brand?

A TV which should allow you to play games with a reasonable response time. I would even go to say that the likes of the Xbox Scorpio & PS4K will generate a LOT of 4K TV sales next year, so if your TV doesn't have the benefits of a lowish response rate, it will hurt sales in 2017.

I bought this from AO with the 10% code for £719.10. Best purchase on a tv I have ever made. It's a monster compared to my 47" LG and when fed 1080p content or higher it is absolutely stunning. 4k videos through Amazon Instant video app (inbuilt app) is HDR and looks incredible.

if you can find the space for this then go to it. I can post pics and videos if anyone wants me to?

Probably. I don't think it's wise to mount TVS above any heat source. Because it could have a direct impact over time. Don't expect the 5 years warranty to be honoured either if they suspect anything out of the ordinary.

Nothing but good reviews about this tv elsewhere from people who have purchased one. Price fluctuates from £699-999 seen over the past month or so. Stock sells very quickly. As regards using it for gaming I have no idea but if its generally a good tv the price is right as long as you can get away with having 65" on your wall without any complaints from your spouse lol

The usual trunking wasn't enough for my setup as sending antenna, ethernet and lots of hdmi cables would block it. I chiseled to the brick. Cut a square drain pipe in half and put it in there leaving a big opening at the back of TV and in the skirting board for cable access. Then cemented and plastered over. It does look really good now. I'll see if I can put a pic up via imgur later on

Yes. Samsung were awful until everyone moved onto flat panels. Had few of their crt TV show and they had serious banding issue. Plus other issue I forgot about. I sold my old lg 40" and sharp 50" so I can be allowed to buy one of these bad boys. Normally I wouldn't touch it. But with richer sounds 6yrs guarantee it's deformation worth it. I don't keep a TV for that long anyway so heat from me.

What gamble ? 5 year warranty with probably best cs out there. If you don't like it send back for a refund ,hardly a gamble having a 5 year warranty.Buying any TV over 500 with 12m warranty, now that's a gamble .If it packs in in 5 years JL will refund 800 so that will buy you a 65 4k oled in 4 years time !! .Think about it competition like this will keep the so called big boys on their toes .yes?

Hisense are not an emerging Chinese brand, they are a well established brand. Lived in Australia for years, where Hisense have a much larger presence than UK and they are not a 'crappy' brand at all. You'll pay a premium for a Samsung or LG badge, nevermind a Sony badge, and you'll get the same tech built in. I'd be surprised if they weren't built in the same factories in China/Korea/Taiwan.

Let me make a prediction. They will become a leading TV brand in the UK in the next couple of years. They are making a real impact against Samsung and LG. They offer very competitive sets but I would not consider them a cheap brand.

Oh, and I have absolutely nothing to do with them at all except carefully doing my homework and buying a 65" set based on price, quality and performance.

Emerging here and a new brand is not the same thing as a budget brand.

It would be like sticking to German marque cars as they are popular and assume reliability when the opposite is true and parts/labour are the most expensive
sie
7 Jul 16 2 #26
If you think Hisense is a poor brand then you are deluded. They offer incredible value for money and produce excellent sets with the latest tech. I've had a 55" curved 4K TV for 6 months and it's an amazing set. The number of people that comment on the quality of the image and the shock when I tell them I only paid £750.

7 Jul 16 1 #24
They aren't an emerging brand, just because they are new to the European market, it's owned by the Chinese government, had a turnover of over 15 billon dollars in 2013, and makes items for other brands too.

I'd have a hisense over comparable priced "big brand" anyday of the week, a lot more for your money and for a lot of retailers to give 5 and 6 year warranties on them, shows they also have faith in their builds.

Try reading before spouting this claptrap the JL and RS and Costco Warranties are brilliant, full parts and labour and if cant fix straight away they just replace.

This is a great set for £799 (I bought mine a couple of weeks ago when it was £720 at AO)..

It was relacing a £3000 58" Panasonic that went faulty at just one month old.

I know which I would rather have, and its the £800 HiSense.
