I found this on ebuyer, while looking for a card to crossfire with my other 4GB card. I looked for this Nitro Graphics gaming card a while ago, but the Sapphire r9 Nitro 380 was too close to £200 for my budget at the time.
I have a Strix R9 card, and this will go nicely with it!
the cooling plate looks really solid on this one. Thought I would share this with any games looking for a new GPU - Component for their computer system.
Quidco = 2% CB on all other purchases ebuyer plus £10 bonus running until 31st July via opt in.

4gb is fine for 1080 gaming. It's not like you are going to be doing much more on a card like this!

Of course, RX 470 is coming out 'soon'. AMD released a 'expected August 4th' for that, and 'expected August 8th' for the RX 460. Price and performance remain unknown, but the specs of RX470 are very close to RX480 but the rumour was $150 vs $199 for RX480 (both for 4GB), so around £150 making this probably not that great value.

They will start shipping from the 4th of August, not sure how quick the UK retailers will get them in.

agreed, for those that can't afford the slightly more expensive 480 4GB this is a great price and gaming card.

I'd pass on all these cards and only concentrate on the rx 480 4GB/8GB or GTX 1060 for £239. Save up or wait a little longer but avoid the older cards if you can.

Crossfired this card has (for whatever reason) an elevated power draw. Add in a oc'd 6600k and the fact that its my main rig so theres a whole bunch of other hardware pulling power ....and that you only get 90% of that 750w anyway and you can see why its a bit of a risk! It's probably ok but then it may well not be.

Great card, handles everything at 1080. Debating picking up another for crossfire (980ti levels) but I doubt my 750w superflower has the guts.

I've got the 2GB version of this and I don't run into any issues at 1080p. I'm able to run pretty much everything at Max settings at 1080p with only the odd exception.

only with DX12 games which use explicit multi-adapter.
the only game so far which uses that is Ashes of the singularity, there will be more games that will, but something you shouldn't rely on.
Also tests show that its more beneficial to pair similar rated cards, for example a 390 with a RX 480 or a gtx 970 with a 390

Probably better off finding a decent second hand r9 290 on eBay for same price as what you'd pay for this 380. I wouldn't really say the 380 is a capable 1080 gpu unless you wanna play at medium-high settings.

There's too much profit to be had from us suckers!!
Latest from PC Advisor - The following prices are rumoured:
AMD RX 470 UK price
4GB VRAM: $149 / £140 inc VAT
8GB VRAM: $179 / £165 inc VAT
Of course I'd love it to be cheaper, but have you thought "wow, that's cheap" on any of these team green or team red "next-gen" cards, I know I haven't! P.S. If I'm wrong I'll eat a Dr. Oetker pizza as punishment!

You don't need anything as powerful as an RX470 to playback a gif.
Are you suggesting it won't be that cheap? A RX480 at $199+Vat works out at about £180 (Ebuyer has them at less) so a RX470 at $149+Vat should be less than £130.
So unless AMD is telling fibs or Teresa May is going to increase VAT in the next 6 weeks or the pound drops dramatically then it should be around £129.

Nice card for the price I have the R9 380 G1 and I don't need an upgrade for what I play maybe next year tho
Yet it can play most games at high comfortably at 1080p?
It's not meant to be hitting 4k at 144hz. It's a cheaper alternative to buying an old 290 or 280x or even a 390.
Not everyone needs or is able to even utilize ultra settings.

128MB on a 386SX would have been epic. Actually I'm pretty sure it wasn't possible, mine had 4MB and I never met anyone with more than 8MB at the time...
First time I saw 128MB+ ram on a normal PC was with a P2 or an Athlon tbird I think

4gb is perfect for 1080 my current card due to flogging my 290 vapour, a R9 285 is pretty much the same card except it has 2gb of video memory and it's great most settings on high, fxaa ssao etc some on very high, shadows usually medium, only game that really gets hit is the very poorly optimised Latest batman game.
Far cry 4, assassin's creed syndicate, ds3, fallout 4, battleborn etc all smooth 60fps.
I am not saying you must buy the 380 but 4gb is plenty as 8gb is really only required / used when gaming in higher resolutions.
