Seemed like a very good price if you needed this.

People like me who've spent that much on 3 different non-brand versions of the same thing that worked for mere weeks each. :disappointed:

No. People seem to **** themselves off over Samsung products that are very poor replicas of Apple products.
Then they usually go online and rave about how good they are, and how Apple users are all 'Sheep'.

Not sure if I misunderstood here; but are you saying people only buy Apple or Samsung products because they think they're 'edgy'?

Samsung - Apple for people who think they're edgy.

What’s the quality like? I am more concerned about this.

I'm an Apple user and I'd never pay £30 for this cable. Not sure I've ever paid full price for an Apple accessory. However, £5 is quite cheap for a proprietary cable. Remember when Samsung used a 30 pin port on its galaxy tab? Yeah, they weren't cheap either.

This works as a great bridge for a midi keyboard which is compatible with garage band. I bought I third party one off eBay for about £3 though. Heat added as it's genuine Apple.

It's the "ho ho ho, let's laugh at anything Apple related and feel very smug that we're clever and original and different" that is boring.
It's ok though...put pretty much the entire thread contributors on ignore.

What do you expect when their phones develop U2 IC charging faults if you haven't used a genuine Apple cable.

Good price but very limited use just for importing photos. Can't copy stuff off for example.

These can actually be used for other USB devices. For example you can use these to attach third party sound cards to your iDevice.

I have all those solutions available to me. I think your argument is a poor one. Not everywhere has mobile reception or wifi, and I don't desire to take a laptop with me everywhere I go. Horses for courses.

I paid £30 but needed it to connect a midi device to iPad.

So the problem is you or the different stuff you bought?
The common factor is you though

The price reduction will be down to this product being replaced by a newer usb3 version which includes a lightning power slot beside it, which allows for more devices to be supported now they can be powered.

Yeah it's pretty outrageous. Some nice next gen gadgets kicking around that come with apps to go both ways to sd card or with built in Wi-Fi, but really backing up into a physical device should be native functionality. As you say, that's Apple for you.

That would be a rather ill thought out backup solution, considering Apple already natively provides cloud backup facilities or backup via a cable (included for free!) onto a PC/Mac

This is the old version hence the clearance. The new one allows compatibility with many HID compliant devices, I.e to allow USB>Ethernet adaptors to be used on your iPhone/iPad
Personally wouldn't bother with this!

Cold. It might be cheap for a "apple" cable but even £5 for a cable with limited use is very expensive let alone non sale price of £30 which is outrageous give the fact that you can get a decent android phone to that sort of money.
