Yeah at the minute I've got a Pidgey, Pikachu, Mankey, Nidoran, Rattata and just evolved a Metapod. Podgy is a decent level just gotta get Mankey and Nidoran up now

From what I can remember from a decade ago, you need to Viridian City and then go on the route before Victory Road. You may even meet Gary there to battle. Here you can catch Nidorans that learn double kick. In Yellow Nidoran learnt Double Kick much earlier than Red or Blue, due to the lack of fighting Pokemon. I also always evolved Caterpie or Metapod to Butterfree as it can use Confusion attack against Brock's pokemon. I am unsure if Mankey is also available.

Gotta be honest, Yellow is a nightmare at the 1st gym with all Rock Pokemon! Pikachu is useless and now I'm trying to upgrade all my other to a decent bloody level!

Loved Pokemon Red with Charizard. Then found out how to get a level 125 Snorlax...and unlimited rare candy...to bring him up to level 255...and beat my mate's Mewtwo :-D

You can buy it from other retailers, but it is a couple of pounds more expensive. That would get you a code though. Game have it for £8.99.

You can only buy the game by signing with your friends Nintendo Network ID and password...no code is given i'm afraid...

I want to get the yellow one as a present surprise for my friend. He has a 3ds and eshop Nintendo account. And memory card. I've had to find this out on the sly so he doesn't twig. If I buy this do I get a 'code' as such that I can then give him? Or is it a case of putting in the ID during checkout?

For those who have to work or don't have much time to game anymore etc yeah definitely. Does make the game a tad more easier. Still, beats trying to beat the elite four with your starter Pokémon and the few legendaries you picked up before hand :smile:.

It is about time they released red and blue on the iPhone and android, if they can get go on them, then they can red and blue and yellow and I am sure they would sell well

Cheapest for X or Y on fleabay from what i have seen is around £20...cheapest price on a pokemon yellow at the moment on fleabay is around £5 and bidding time still left...

Because Yellow came out later with I believe some nicer updated sprites and has your starter pikachu follow you around If you keep him/her in your party. It is also possible to get Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle for doing I think it was pokemon trades in the game.

These games are great for a trip down nostalgia lane but the later pokemon games are so much more user friendly. X & Y can be had for cheap.

This afternoon. I think usually 2pm is the time the eShop updates every Thursday. That could be Universal Time though, so our summer time would be 1 hour in front of that

If the GBA remakes, Leaf Green etc. were made available on the store I'd buy those digitally, but I don't have much interest in revisiting the original games. If I wanted to do that I'd dig out my old Gameboy Color.

Where else can you buy any of these Pokemon games for cheaper?
The originals sell for £20+ and the boxed versions can go for much more than that.

The only similarities are the Pokemon I guess.
It's not turn based and there are no real battles, just tapping on the screen to attack to take over gyms.

the fact a decades old game that isn't even a good deal is the top rated item pretty much sums up this place

I have never played a Pokémon game and have no idea what they are about... its something that passed me by completely... The hoarder/collector inside me feels I may have missed something I would have enjoyed.

I wish Nintendo would replicate these onto phones, imagine being able to red or blue on your phone! I would literally die. Shame it will probably never happen

They must be doing something wrong then I've had Pokemon GO for the last 6 days and i've barely used 150mb I've only got 1gb myself aswell so its not really a hog around 10mb/1hr

Voted Hot, may well grab one of these for my 3DS.

Currently it's just the 3DS. The Wii U has DS games but they haven't released any older handheld games on the Wii U, or the Wii for that matter.

If it's been 20 years, they could have at least translated all 4 versions into English for virtual console. It can't take that long, the previously unreleased green version would become a top seller!!!

Been playing since Thursday and doubt I've barely hit 300mb yet, data on pretty much nonstop.

Nostalgia alone is worth the price of an oily kebab, and failing that, the hourly rate to play this game would be fractions of a penny per hour for most of us.

Compared to the prices for most of the ps1/2 games on psn, this is fantastic.
I may be a little biased here...

Oh dear where did it go SO wrong.

It's an incredible game though, if you think that's expensive I'd avoid looking up the prices for the actual carts and boxed versions.

Got loads of them boxed and they sell for a good amount.

I still have my Pokemon Blue and Gold, with boxes and in perfect condition too. As much as I loved those games innovations in the newer versions make it hard to go back.

Not legally, I'm afraid.

I got the original Japanese ones fully boxed with the book and map in each, great for learning the Japanese language. The box for the red version is a bit scruff in the corners but my pikachu yellow I kept it in mint condition, special game.

I bought blue and red both boxed over 10 yrs ago on eBay, fairly reasonable. They've just been lying in a drawer doing nothing, could make a fortune on them yet can't bring myself to sell them.

​You're probably going about it the wrong way. You have to download an emulator from the play store then place the pokemon rom onto your device. (All of which is slightly illegal mind)

Good one for the kiddies, did this to death in my youth when I had a zillion hours at my leisure and nowhere to go. Nope, pokemon go is where I'm at, you have to get off your butt and walk a while away if you want to go to the poke-gym, to sit and play on your phone. Kind of a technology happy medium I guess... funny enough the pokestops are often kids playgrounds so family friendly too.
