Good price - averages on approx. £35 a week for 2 years leasing

Doing a very quick search , car is worth around the £16k mark new , a 2yr old model with 16k on the clock would be worth £11k max (and probably upto £2k less than this as a trade-in !) ..... That's a depreciation cost of between £5k and 7k !!

If its a new car you are after , these figures stack up quite favourably.

Nav option would have probably cost that and that's included in the spec too ..... prob balances out with that , either way it aint a deal breaker but definitely worth pointing out

Fuel economy seems great on these too , and petrol version is always a bonus ! - 52mpg / 65mpg (combined) / 76mpg

I've just returned one of these. It may not be the fastest car your money can buy but it's a very capable little car which has no trouble with motorways and even when pushed hard gets 45mpg.

The 140bhp is still 1.0 litre and does it in 9.0 secs! It's the turbo that helps!
rooney10 to dvdphile
6 Jul 16 #19
This remapped would get you to 140 bhp and achieve a sub 9 sec 0-62 (with minimal lag too) although that may not be the best idea for a lease car you will be giving back 2 years later

6 Jul 16 #20
I've got the 1.0 Ecoboost 140bhp Zetec S black one and it flies! bit juicy on the petrol when driven like a nutter but when driven like a old lady it's very good on fuel. But i love hearing the engine on this it gives a hiss (turbo) sound when changing up gears.

£102 a month 5k per annum and £850 upfront. This looks like a good deal for the ST line.

Peugeots are junk, lucky to get 6 months without needing garage attention.

My Fiesta had 5 different rattles after a couple of months. My previous car was a 10 year old Peugeot 206 which didn't rattle at all.
rooney10
6 Jul 16 #31
That changes things ..... my predictions on the 2nd hand value would of course differ too then , perhaps 7k value 2 years on , still a £5.5k loss on buying new and better with leasing I would have thought , no ?

Can't say I've had any issues either, not that I'd expect them on a flagship. Was going to go for Fiesta ST but the interior was tacky and a bit 'youthful'.

GTI has been fab so far, but so it should be for how much money she gets spent on her!

6 Jul 16 #36
Rattles are not the best way to gauge reliability. On a 10 year old 206 everything would've already fell off so no rattles.

My wife had a KA which was a bag of s***, still not as bad as the Peugeot I had.
rooney10
6 Jul 16 #37
LOL , Not as much fun now as it used to be in my 'old mans' Passat estate .... the look on the faces of young sporty hatch drivers that eyed me at the lights before going 'lead foot' on me and consequently losing (badly !) was priceless
Makes me laugh now just thinking about it hehe , immature I know !
dave80

The 10 year old 206 was doing fine thanks. I'm not suggesting that rattles gauge reliability but they definitely do say something about construction quality.

It's a great car that is too expensive for what it is to buy (it's a freaking £16k Fiesta that isn't even the fast version!), because of that engine. But to lease it seems a good deal.

Wow this is a really good deal for a ST model. Although I highly doubt it gets 65mph and it only does 0-62 in 9.4 seconds? That's as fast as my 10 year old 1.6 fiesta...

Mada06
6 Jul 16 #72
This is not the ST. It's a Zetec S made to look like an ST. Subtle changes but the ST has the 1.6 engine and is in another league. The Zetec S is by no means quick but it's not painfully slow either.

I lease a Zetec S red special edition and the 1.0 ecoboost engine is fantastic. Over 7k miles I have averaged 37.1mpg. Been incredibly impressed with the car and will look to replace it with something similar.

I think I paid just under £1k deposit and £116 per month.
dramaqueen
6 Jul 16 #73
I looked at this deal and for 5 door at 12K with 9 = 23 monthly payments it worked out at around 124 per month. just need to test drive one to see if I like the power.
dave80
6 Jul 16 #74
Seems like those extra 17bhp cost a lot of fuel. I did 16k in my Zetec S 123bhp and when I handed the car back average mpg was 45. I was not driving it lightly either.

The satnav in the Fiesta isn't very good. I always end up using Google Maps app on my phone. Saying 'ok Google, navigate to [and say your friend's name, or an address, or a business name]' is a million times quicker and the map is better.

I have this car and I am extremely happy.. Although it's not the 'st line' so it's missing a few of the design flourishes this one will have.

Sure I would love an actual ST If I could afford it, but the little 1.0 is great. It might be only 123hp, but the fiesta is pretty light and it handles brilliantly so it's really good fun to drive. The engine is surprisingly quiet when driving normally but it does make a nice little hum when it's revved. I'm averaging about 40mpg at the minute with a mixture of city and motorway driving, but I have been driving it pretty hard. Oh and tax is free on this model too.

I'm probably going to remap mine to 155hp soon (which should be ~£400). Insane power for a 1 liter engine!

It's definitely worth considering a used one in my opinion if you're not desperate for the 'st line' edition or sat nav (My phone is better anyway) . I picked up my 2013 model for ~£8800.

Also, I'm not sure the picture in the description is correct. If you want to see what it really looks like have a look at the Ford Fiesta configurer on their website.

are they a reputable company?
looking at car leasing options but wanted to go to a garage arnold clark peter vardy etc but all i can see on their websites are finance options ie paying it over 3,4,5 years with interest.
though i know people who seemed to lease cars from them for 2/3 years then have had the option to trade it back.
geowars2
6 Jul 16 #97
Almost all leasing sites seem to get the pictures wrong! I'm certain they must get a lot of unhappy customers when the car turns up!
dvdphile
6 Jul 16 #98
No disrespect but you really need to do some more research. The car doesn't come from the leasing company it comes from the main dealer in this case Ford. The lease company just does all the paperwork and finance etc. Thats why there is an admin fee on top. You could phone your main ford dealer and ask to speak to lease department and then see if they'll match this deal. Chances are unlikely they will. Don't forget the car will have 3 years warranty with Ford and Fiestas are very popular and reliable too!

I tried using a trailer on the back of a RangRover TDV8i and still did not get near 65 mpg (that was in the fiesta) the RR did 34.5mpg with the train and load on! Fact......well the RR mpg. not the fiesta.
monkeyhanger75
6 Jul 16 #104
Depends on how you drive it, how long your average journey is, how often you're stuck in traffic, ambient temp/humidity etc.

In my Golf R, on my 20 mile commute on uncluttered roads it will do 33mpg in the Summer and 31mpg in the Winter with a heavy right foot. Add a bit of traffic to make my 30 minute commute a 50 minute journey and you're talking 29/30mpg. 5 mile journey from cold and i'm lucky to hit 27mpg. My cousin in London also has a Golf R and averages 18mpg taking almost an hour to do 12 miles!

vulcanproject
6 Jul 16 #107
£400? You'll be so lucky on a personal plan. More like £500 for 2 years and mileage like this.

Which is why you should be buying one, considering their residuals will likely be fantastic
remondo
6 Jul 16 1 #108
Same engine as my Zetec S but much cheaper than my lease, damn. What's the catch? I pay about £156 per month for 24months and 15k miles. Any idea what the excess mileage charge is?

I thought all these ST's I keep seeing everywhere could smoke me but apparently not. Fancy putting a 1.0 in what is supposed to be the top of the range sport model! I prefer the wheels on mine to be honest, bit of a bitch to clean though.

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing-companies/independent-brokers/uk-car-contracts/ford/focus-rs/94593361/

So I could go to my local Ford dealer and see what options they have. If it comes directly from Ford then why would my local Ford beach charge a different amount.
u say I need to do more research which is clearly what im trying to do by asking questions here, as I say online my local garagage mainly Peter vary and Arnold Clark which have Ford Vauxhall and all various brand dealerships here show nothing about car leasing on their website only finance options.

When returning the car after 2 years, do they inspect the car for damage, and how do they define what is acceptable after 2 years?
vulcanproject
6 Jul 16 #116
No options whatsoever doe for that price. Dropping £10k+ on one over two years is going to be a bad idea when it's entirely possible it will barely lose even half that value, if the residuals are anything like as good as the previous model

They can't. £416 for 2 years with no options on the car or contract and it's an estimate, not a confirmed quote. Which is likely to be a bit higher realistically. You should budget more like £500.

i have the 140 bhp red wdition and by far the most fun i have had driving a car and have owned a bmw, audi, merc and vw! its not amazingly fast but i do have fun racing bigger engine cars and testing the driver cos these things can move and fiestas have one of the best chasis i have seen or driven. just sticks to the road. again, its only 140bhp but remember thats a 1.0ltr engine, it has more break per litre than a bugatti! incredible! and pushing it it def quicker than 9secs to 60. i have also done an average of around 45mpg over 8k driving like i was 20 again.
quigley61
7 Jul 16 #123
does anyone know anywhere that does leasing for high mileage? I currently do between 20-25k a year traveling to uni and none of these leases are anywhere near the mileage I need. I'd quite like a nicer car since I spend too much time driving.
ukscoob1
7 Jul 16 #124
You have to remember that engine sizes aren't the key stat anymore. Ford's 1.0 ecoboost is award winning for power output. test drive one before dismissing based on the 1.0 number.

I've driven this and it is so gutless. You need to give it some beans to get anywhere and when you do you won't get anything like the milage they state in the figures. A total swizz. Love fords usually but this engine is not going to save the polar bears.
rooney10
7 Jul 16 #127
Manufacturers have developed engines now to be much more efficient , generally speaking they have improved on performance and economy.

I wonder how many diesels were around when your 735i was new that could achieve 60+ mpg , whilst soaring to 62 mph from standstill in under 5 seconds ?

The Ford 1.0 ecoboost , and I am not knocking them btw , is a highly tuned engine with only approx. 20% gain to be had from remapping the Ecu. Thus suggesting it is already close to its maximum capabilities in terms of power.
This would suggest why the above review makes sense , it is expected that it must work harder being such a small engine.
I , personally would have loved this soon after passing my test , however , nowadays I much prefer a quieter (almost silent) , more refined ride with power to boot. Such are the cars these days , there a plenty that fit the bill for me , sadly not at this price point though , lol

Voted HOT btw , it appears to be great value for money
rooney10
7 Jul 16 #128
I would have expected a better mpg than that , my 3.0 diesel gets 35.8 mpg average and most of my driving is town with around 20% motorway driving and I definitely don't drive it like a nun.
