Personally I never used my vouchers as part of the Clubcard Boost, I've always used them for Days Out, Cinemas, Restaurant etc. where they are often worth X4 and these offers are still available.

Actually the prices have dropped loads I find Asda are more expensive now plus lidl and aldi are poor quality and smaller sizes to keep price lower so false economy.

Shop at Aldi or Lidl, you'll save far more than any clubcard deal can offer. Personally I prefer the selection at Aldi to any other supermarket. Quality I find is better with the exception of fruit and veg.

Why have Tesco NOT mailed this promotion to clubcard holders !!!
Fortunately I have hotdeals mailed daily
Just another failure by tesco

So I buy absolutely everything from Aldi, meat for instance 3-4 packs of the 1kg chicken breasts per week, 3 packs of the lean mince think it's 12% fat can't quite remember, couple large chickens, booze is the other main area case of red and case of white usually the 2.99 stuff whereas can't remember last time I was able to get a bottle under £4 in Tesco and I find the dairy much cheaper 500g of grated cheese think it's about 50p bag cheaper n we get through 4 bags a week, so it all adds up, it's fair to say I've not shopped in Tesco for well over a year and I never bought the value stuff usually Tesco own label or the bogof offers and I have heard they have made an effort on price reductions but I won't go back n see as I still feel they bleed me dry and Aldi made life so much more comfortable for my family of 3 teenagers, btw I also get my premium dry dog food from Aldi now switched from Pets at home wainwrights £45 15 kg bag to Aldi 5kg for £6.99 ingredients list is virtually the same

Agreed about most of the meat. SB 5% fat 500g mince is better and 70p a pack cheaper. However, the SB 400g diced chicken breast is very poor, Tesco's is only marginally better - I don't know what they do to it. I have to buy bigger pieces and cut them up.

Interesting... I bought Sainsburys own brand items and Tescos own brand items. The packaging and prices were different but the batch numbers and products were the same....
kooks65
12 Jul 16 #37
I'm pretty much the same myself, I use 'my supermarket' to compare prices and shop mainly between Sainsburys and Tesco but I do find that Sainsburys fresh meats are better than Tesco. If prices are the same for my cupboard items I go to Tesco as I convert my cc points into miles for flights.

I shop monthly and have deliveries from Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's once per month. I simply buy each item at it's cheapest depending on shop and the savings easily cover the £1 delivery fee from each of the stores. I've been doing this for three years now and the stuff I buy for the month usually comes to around £250 - every single month, without exception at all, the bulk of the order goes to Tesco. Asda/SB usually pick up around 30% between them. My conclusion is that Tesco are cheaper on the majority of items, and for those where their prices are the same, the CC points are more valuable than Nectar or nothing that you get from Asda. If only 1) I trusted Tesco brand match and 2) someone would knock up a website that did this for me, this is a huge gap in the market and someone could make an absolute fortune from it...

I thought it was 1 point for every £2 or 2 litres? + my local asda is .02p rather than a full penny a litre.
Anyway, I collect Airmiles & it's worth it to me to pay the extra 1p

That's a big saving 40%, what are you buying to save so much? I was in Aldi last weekend and didn't find their prices that impressive, many items were just pennies cheaper than other supermarkets. Potatoes, cabbage and strawberries were actually more expensive, in fact the strawberries had jumped up in price from £1.29 the previous week to £1.89 last weekend, the most expensive of all the supermarkets.

Haven't shopped in Tesco since my shopping bill went from £200 per week to £120 at Aldi AND we manage to get a few treats in that which we couldn't previously do at Tesco... Would need a lot of clubcards points to compensate that!
Still have their credit card tho thinking of switching that too....

Absolutely no point (for me) collecting Tesco points anymore now that they've eradicated boost. I have a Tesco bank account which means I get full points when filling up at the pumps.... This is of course when they actually let you have access to them as they are always out of service at night.
The points piled on fast and I used boost to purchase and pre-order all my PS4 games FOC as well as getting other products.
I'm now looking at other banks for a better interest rate and other petrol stations for a better deal.

Good work Tesco.

Try shopping at a quality supermarket like Sainsburys .
bonzobanana
11 Jul 16 #23
I find Tesco the cheapest supermarket but only because I tend to buy a lot of their everyday value products and their half price offers. I like to try new foods which is great when they are half price.

There are a few things I have to pay more for at Tesco compared to Lidl for example. I think a bag of rice is 45p in Tesco but 40p in Lidl and a tin of new potatoes is 15 in Lidl but 20p in Tesco but find Lidl quality generally poor especially some of their processed food. Lidl import a lot more of their food than Tesco despite the adverts showing a few products which aren't imported and maybe now that will put them under more pressure to increase prices due the fall in value of the pound.

A recent visit to Lidl included some rather stale Carrots that were very dry which I guess was due to age. You don't know the age of their veg as they won't put a date on the packaging. Also some Cornish ice cream that appeared a bargain but in fact was nothing like cornish ice cream resembling a basic value ice cream despite being 2x the price. It just wasn't creamy and didn't have much of a vanilla taste.

Asda are just as bad as Lidl they don't seem to care what they put their name to. A few products are great quality for the price, probably the products they send out for review in magazines but many other products are not acceptable quality to me. Obviously behind the Asda name is Walmart one of the most aggressive sourcer's of products around the world pushing down many prices and expecting to pay less than its competitors.

I like the points system that much I got a Tesco credit card and I use it to pay my Council Tax, Paypal purchases and anything else online or over £10. Last year I used my points in a boost promo and bought a Hoover washing machine only had to pay £50. Whoever decided to stop the Boost should be Fired.
