I make my own sauve 9 times out of 10 but still keep a few jars of dolmio etc in cupboard for those times I cant be bothered or short of time like home late. Use onions, ginger, garlic, chillies, tinned plum tomatoes, salt, pepper. If you leave out the tomatoes the relish/chutney is good enough to eat by itself with cheese and crackers.

our 10 year old can make it, sweat down an onion, garlic and brown the mince, some will say do the mince once the onion was soft but no need. if you have some red wine add a little, pour in a can of tomatoes, two if you like a bit more tomato, add boiling water to the pan pint maybe a little more, add some Italian seasoning or oregano and basil, garlic graduals are also good, a about half a tube of tomato puree and a oxo cube. cook down for about 20 to 30 minutes. perfect.
Another good way of making a basic sauce is to use loads of veg, kids love it and good way of hiding veg, sweat down onion, garlic, pepper (frozen are ok) carrots and celery and a tin of tomatoes and wine if you have it, add some Italian herbs as well cook down for about 20 minutes, once cook blend down with a blender or food processor. To make an arrabiata sauce add half a chilli. Add something like chorizo for a extra special flavour.

sorry no, the time it takes to cook one of these jars and meat is the same regardless, the meat has to cook no matter what, 20 to 30 minutes to cook something fresh versus 20 minutes to cook a jar there should be no comparison. the real problem is some use this as an excuse because they don't know how to cook pasta sauces. Yes good price but lets not make excuses.

Because it's not a hot deal. It's a rip off. They over process a bunch of ingredients until they taste of nothing, then have to load it with salt and sugar so it tastes of what it was in the 1st place.

I can't believe people still buy this rubbish. Tin Toms, Garlic, olive oil, pinch salt and brown sugar, slack handful of basil and cherry Toms and you're good to go. And a LOT cheaper than this. Cold from me.

I think virtue signalling about a jar of sauce is a bit much. It's great that you work full time and find the time and money to make your meals from scratch every time. However others don't always have that luxury so I don't see why people should think less of others for simply using a jar of sauce.
Whilst cooking from scratch and making fresh food is amazing, if you wanted to use a jar of sauce like this then there is no real excuse to avoid it.

when most pasta sauces are simple to make there really is no excuse for using these :disappointed:

They had bad publicity for the amount of sugar that is used in this product. You've been warned .

They had good and bad publicity for stating some of their products should be consumed in moderation. They're not that full of sugar.

Good price for a nice sauce. Works well in a slow cooker with the mince
